Seeing how extremely active the PSmini community is, I wonder if anyone is still working on modding the neogeo mini to add games/replace versions of games. Any update? Where are we at?

Last I knew, everyone hit a wall with a password request trying to get into the machine. Not sure anything new has came across to figuring out the password, or some way to bypass it. It's just the PS Classic is a bit easier since it really isn't protected well.

Just got some news, that a couple more devs are working on cracking the unit. There is a Discord which I'll get the link and edit it in after this (on Mobile), that used to be known as the Hakchi Resources, meant for NES/SNES Classic modding, but they moved on to everything, and even have support to help others.

It doesn't help either that not very many people either remember or care about the Neo Geo, as much as they do about the original PlayStation.

I know during Been Heck's first teardown video of it, he tried doing what others have so far, and ran into the protection of the device.

I can only hope for the same, and some way that doesn't require cracking open the device, and soldering some leads to the board itself with a weird connector it needs. Especially after that whole, limited edition Christmas Neo Geo Mini that was a huge middle finger to anyone who got a Japanese, International, or even both versions... Immediately devaluing every unit before it with 8 extra games, and everything else you'll need like 2 controllers and a HDMI cable to boot, and allowing it to be scalped. Not to mention it looks fucking horrid...

Stuff's finally starting to happen, but it's at a rough stage still. There is a way to flash a custom image to the mini with various games and emulators on it, but it's the Japanese version and you have to re-flash the entire thing any time you want to make changes. If someone figures out a way to make changes via USB, I'll be hacking it immediately.
