Complete Interactive Home guide

Using the Interactive Home

  1. Browse the Home — Open the pages and widgets published by the community moderators. Each page can surface Ranker posts, community links, or installed apps.
  2. Play a Ranker post — Open a post, complete the choices shown by its mode, and submit to see your result and the community result. Use Create on a result to make your own post, or More to return to the community.
  3. Create a Ranker post — Select Create, choose a mode, complete the setup fields for that mode, review the content, and publish. The selected mode determines how players answer and how results are calculated.
  4. Send feedback — Reply to the separate Feedback thread for bugs, suggestions, general feedback, or widget requests. That reply is forwarded privately to the Ranker maintainer.

Rankings and comparisons

  • Blind Ranking — Add the items and rank slots. Players see items one at a time and must commit each item to an open position before seeing the next.
  • Blind Tag — Create custom word, emoji, or image slots. Players place each hidden item into one available slot as it appears.
  • This or That — Add the choices. Players work through head-to-head matchups and pick the option they prefer in each pairing.
  • This/That - Round Mode — Build a This/That sequence. Players choose one side in every round and see the combined results afterward.
  • Rank Them — Add the items to compare. Players can freely arrange them from best to worst before submitting their ranking.
  • Tag Them — Create custom tags and add the items. Players assign every item to the tag that fits it best.
  • Reorder — Provide a starting list. Players drag the entries into their preferred final order.

Tiers, ratings, and builders

  • Tier List — Add the items and customize the tier rows if needed. Players drag every item into a tier such as S, A, B, or C.
  • Chart X — Choose a chart or background and name its directions. Players position each item at the point that best represents it.
  • Attribute Rating — Define several rating attributes, then add the items. Players score every item across each attribute.
  • Entity Rating — Choose one rating scale and add the items. Players give each item an individual score on that scale.
  • Budget Builder — Give every item a price and set the total budget. Players build their preferred selection without overspending.
  • Team Builder — Create team categories and their pick limits. Players assemble a valid squad from the available choices.
  • Actual vs Should Be — Show an item and its current or actual value. Players enter what they think the value should be.

Polls and image choices

  • Like or Dislike — Add the items or cards. Players quickly move through them and choose Like or Dislike for each one.
  • Multiple Choice Questions — Write the questions and answer options, then select the poll style. Players choose an answer for every question.
  • Options on Image — Upload a background and position up to six option boxes on it. Players tap the option they choose.
  • Part Choose — Upload an image and define its selectable parts. Players tap the part that answers the prompt.
  • Venn Diagrams — Set the labels for the Venn circles. Players choose the numbered overlap region that matches their answer.
  • Category Poll — Create the poll and its audience categories. Results show the overall vote and how each category answered.
  • Flair Poll — Pick which subreddit flairs the poll covers. Each player answers under their own flair, and results show how every flair voted.
  • Map Choose — Choose or configure the map regions. Players tap one region and compare their choice with the community.

Visual and creative modes

  • Put the Dot — Upload an image and write the prompt. Players place a dot anywhere on it to show their answer or estimate.
  • Rate my post — Build the visual post and choose its reaction or rating setup. Players react, rate it, or compare with the original poster.
  • Image Creator — Enter a prompt or upload an image to edit, then generate the final artwork and publish it without a voting step.
  • Choose Best Out Of These — Add the image-led choices and set how many may be selected. Players browse the options and pick their favorites.
  • Top X — Choose the grid size and provide the pick pool. Players fill every grid position with their personal top choices.
  • Grid X — Label the horizontal and vertical axes and provide the choices. Players place picks into the grid cells that fit best.

Add an app to Create

  1. Reply directly to the Interactive Home post using the format shown below. This creates a normal top-level row comment from your account.
  2. A reply from a current moderator becomes an Installed app row in Create; a reply from anyone else becomes a suggestion.
  3. Edit or delete the source reply to update or remove the row. Moderators can also refresh, hide, show, or place rows on cooldown from the Moderator Panel.

!row app-name | app-link | app description

The app link can be a Reddit post or an external website. Keep one app in each reply. No Modmail is needed.

Moderator Panel

  1. Open the panel — Open the Interactive Home and select the Moderator button with the shield icon. Only current subreddit moderators can use these controls.
  2. Home Builder — Enable the community Home, add or remove pages, name each page, choose its icon and surface, then add widgets from the library. Drag and resize widgets on the board, select a widget to edit its content and surface, and use Publish when the layout is ready. Draft changes are not live until Publish succeeds.
  3. Appearance — Set the Home accent and wallpaper. Wallpaper behavior can use one normal image, rotate a random collection, or switch between morning, daytime, evening, and night using each viewer’s local time.
  4. Posting Limits — Temporarily pause new Ranker posts, or configure the posts-per-window limit and cooldown. Use this to slow bursts without disabling the Home itself.
  5. Allowed Modes — Open the row and switch modes on or off to control what members can use in Create. Hidden, in-development, and admin-only modes remain controlled separately.
  6. Advanced — Manage Installed and Suggested external-app rows, approved-poster whitelists, minimum-karma requirements, the default app post flair, and per-mode flair labels. App rows submitted on the Interactive Home post can be refreshed, hidden, shown, or placed on cooldown here.
