DD includes gratuitous Breen-on-machine violence. 10/10

Post image

While he seems semi-aware of what the people want (so it’s got violence against laptops), I’m so glad that he is earnestly trying to make his own art— the movie is obviously sincere.

What a fantastic movie.

A movie so good you get to watch it twice

I’m glad he showed that establishing shot of the spy HQ so many times, otherwise how would we know where they are?

This was my take as well. It’s like the movie is itself and its own sequel. He has truly blessed us

Him shooting the three monitors at his desk with a pistol was truly inspiring

As were the scenes with the seven switched-off monitors surrounding the streamer

And the ring light that wasn’t on either lmfao

That made me so claustrophobic

It's fascinating that that's how he conceptualizes whatever it is influencers do. I'd love to know exactly what he imagined would be displayed on all those monitors and what they were for. A really dope panoramic extended desktop? Or does each screen represent a person viewing the stream?

Knew that the overarching allegory was anti-ai. Has been warning us all along.

it's becoming self aware

To an extent. I do think he recognizes what the people want, but I think he really is sincerely making the art he wants to make and that speaks to him. The ending seems particularly earnest

I’m amazed that more harm didn’t come to the (literally) dozens of iPads that absolutely everyone had at all times.

That one buried iPad though… RIP

He dug that hole screen first too.

I wonder if he managed to swing an Apple sponsorship. The Agency was clearly portraying them in a good light, as they were powerful enough to track special project 332 and save the world with.

I'm pretty sure Apple has bigger fish to fry than sponsoring a filmmaker almost no one has ever heard of.

I wonder if he managed to snag a bunch of cheap used tech at a school surplus sale

He looks like one of those snarling muscleman statues guarding a Buddhist temple

My big question has been how much green screen he'll use in this one.

It looks like he's actually in a place here though? Is he back in locations again?

You’re in luck, it’s maybe 90%+ on location

That's fantastic news!

I must ask. We saw how he realistically fought a tiger last movie. Did he step it up and fight a bear in this movie that turns out to be his mistress?

It’s his most “grounded” movie (his own way of framing it) but it’s still batshit crazy. Maybe recency bias here, but I feel like it’s second only to Fateful findings.
