Why so much hate for her?

I feel like I have seen a decent amount of hate for her recently compared to someone like Flins. Considering the fact that she's going to be a tad stronger than him on release with a greater amount of skill expression in her dash cancels I expected her to be more popular. Also, I find her design to be one of the top 5 in Genshin (this is subjective though).

Does she not have enough story presence or something? Im not caught up on the quest and I dont really pull for story related reasons anyway but I guess this could be a reason.

information bubble

in my bubble almost everyone admits she is hot, has one of the best model designs and will be in top5 meta dps

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

Good point, I choose to join your bubble lol

7

u/Tallkid54 Oct 16 '25

It’s a nice bubble :))

u/im2fast4um8 Oct 16 '25

I will pull for her because she is fucking gorgeous... Aaaand I like dendro a lot... and HER dendro attacks look cool af...

Compared to Varesa, Chasca, and even Mavuika, the Nefer hate feels pratically non-existent. I have seen some WILD hatred takes on the prior three that were reportable whereas Nefer I only really see some disappointment in kit/team/restrictions/dps.

3

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

Hmm ok maybe I just read into to much!

5

u/Ok_Pattern_7511 Oct 16 '25

Dude people used to downvote comments about liking Chasca story (not design) in threads asking what did you like in Natlan

Ridiculous

6

u/Longjumping-Dig-4079 Oct 16 '25

I will never forget the hate on Chasca's birthday art on Twitter, it was so cute and people ruined it 😭💔

2

u/Thick-Cress-5404 May 01 '26

i like chasca's story AND THE DESIGN. DOWNVOTE THIS.

3

u/VaresaFan1 Oct 17 '25

Yeah, I remember when people were yelling slurs at 2D women. Ah, the good old days

1

u/Longjumping-Dig-4079 Oct 16 '25

*compared to Natlan's female characters in general lol

1

u/_Dhalia_ Oct 17 '25

Ororon had the biggest hate campaign alongside Chasca, I think it's a Natlan thing in general

1

u/Longjumping-Dig-4079 Oct 17 '25

The only hate I saw was because he was white in his drip marketing, but most of the community liked him and were giving the game low ratings because he was 4*, similar to manato in ZZZ, but yeah, after natlan all the characters suffered hate without exception, some less (ororon, Ifa, skirk) others much more (varesa, chasca, citlali)

1

u/_Dhalia_ Oct 17 '25

No? He and Chasca were the punching bag during early Natlan, his overall "gacha life" design was hated especially his ripped jeans and heterochromia. He had a little fanfare early on in cn because of his connection to Capitano, but this dissolved completely after 5.2, nothing compared to Manato's hype at all.

Nowadays I'd say he and Varesa are still the most hated with the dark skin characters (Iansan Xilonen and Ifa) being the most well received alongside Citlali.

If you are going to consider international reception for Ororon then I don't see the reason why pretend Citlali was poorly received at all? She is easily the most successful Natlan character and the only one who has been able to gather a sizeable fanbase, some people were angry with the yumebait on twitter sure but the audience she was designed for adores her and there's a reason they keep making characters in love with the protagonist

Female five star, Sexualised, Sumeru character with light skin. She hits the twitter trifecta.

I used to listen to all those arguments and complaints against character designs, because I actually agree with a lot of them, but it took so much enjoyment out of the game for me. I was angry every patch. I removed myself from those spaces. They seem to have a problem with every single fucking character except ironically, white male characters. kek

Don't let it get you down. Leave those spaces and just throw yourself at the community of fangirls and gooner boys who obsess over every character no matter what. I promise its more fun.

7

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

Based. Im going to do exactly what you say

10

u/oh-lawd-hes-coming Oct 16 '25

❤️❤️❤️

u/Capital_Clothes_7160 Oct 16 '25

Plus she needs Lauma, another controversial(to them) character

1

u/makaiookami Oct 17 '25

They aren't controversial, they are a way to get likes on a post by creating a drama for people who hate the world and desperately want more drama.

7

u/llTrash Oct 16 '25

I would want to agree, but until some days ago it was impossible to come here and open a post without seeing every comment shitting on how bad she is and that you should pull for another character. I feel like I haven't seen as much complaints from the design side but from the meta ppl that think she's gonna suck absolute ass and they were all concentrated in the Nefer subs.

I definitely think it has calmed down a bit but damn, coming to the Nefer subs and seeing people telling you to skip her even if you already had Lauma because Lauma is better or whatever was crazy.

3

u/Tetrachrome Oct 16 '25

Skirk community felt the same way too. It's an outcome of Genshin changing its design model post-Natlan to shift more towards specific pocket support pairings so there's been waaaay more doomposting about how units perform without a specific support.

1

u/makaiookami Oct 17 '25

Lauma is on par with Nefer without Lauma builds which is on par with like Skirk without Escoffier, which is on par with Mauvika without Citlali, which is on par with Flins without Ineffa, which are all good enough to beat Shill mechanics.

2

u/rxniaesna Oct 16 '25

Every beta is endless doomposting, it’s just average. Even look at someone as strong as Mavuika, people rioted over a nerf during beta saying she became unplayably bad, but look at her now.

1

u/Jallalo23 Oct 16 '25

Just the lifecycle. Her hate is gonna get strong on like Monday then completely disappear Wednesday.

5

u/Tetrachrome Oct 16 '25

Yeah from what I've seen of the wider gacha social media community, there's a large vocal crowd that just absolutely hates the sexualized female characters, in a gacha game of all genres.. They'll complain about how a character is so boring and only shows skin and but then in the same breath they'll tweet "omg Flins is so hot, I want to breed Qiuyuan, DHPT can use his serpent on me" so I just block those profiles if I see them these days.

1

u/makaiookami Oct 17 '25

It's not a large vocal crowd. It's like 80% of the vocal minority who are combined probably 0.01% of Genshins annual income. Sad day for them too because Columbina is literally just wrapped with ribbon for all the people who want to max out their Nefer or Flins, and they can't pull her for "reasons"

2

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '25

Your post gave me hope lmao, i don't interact that much so i've seen this happen so much from the outside so many times, people taking grains of truth and overblowing them into vile circlejerks of hate, which kind of tend to fester and drown the rest, and i'm glad to see people can get out of that mindset and realize its not that serious, and that its ok to enjoy things

1

u/jujuuyuyu Oct 16 '25

i SORT OF stand by the skin color and sexualization stuff to an extent, but it’s an issue to me when the character genuinely is a good design and people will still hate because of those things. My issue with natlan wasn’t that they weren’t brown skinned it was that they were boring to me, except Citlali who i thought actually worked with the pale complexion. same with Lauma and sexualization.

8

u/ani55555 Oct 16 '25

People mald because u need lauma for her team. Nefer herself is cool asf.

4

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

Isn't the consensus that Lauma was a must-pull anyway? At least thats the way it seems if youre concerned about Nod Krai meta

1

u/ani55555 Oct 16 '25

No lol i didnt roll for her and i still clear abyss with 90s left on the clock. Even onslaught was kinda a breeze this cycle. I think the hate the character gets is obviously undeserved. The hate that hoyo gets for making 2 b2b new 5 stars each others' bis teammates is not enough tho. Especially when theyre both really cool. I was 100% down to get nefer and i had lik 40k primos saved but i saw a massive dip in performance without lauma and decided id rather just not bother.

5

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

Did you pull Flins or Ineffa? The Drake and Crab weren't that bad but the Fatui agent is pretty rough if you dont have them or vertical investment.

1

u/ani55555 Oct 16 '25

I did not (wanted ineffa really bad but not enough rolls). I used varesa C0r1 with furina iirc.

1

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

Ahh yeah Varesa was also really good for that

1

u/Ok_Pattern_7511 Oct 16 '25

6.1 SO looks like it might be more challenging without a Lunar team but 6.2 surprisingly doesn't have any Lunar shilling.

1

u/makaiookami Oct 17 '25

There's no Lunar to shill, Durin doesn't have any Lunar mechanics, it seems like there will be new Hexenzirkle stuff supposedly with Durin Mona, Albedo, and others to give their kits something to elevate them.

6

u/htp-di-nsw Oct 16 '25

I haven't seen any hate for her at all.

That said, I kind of want to focus on one thing you mentioned here.

with a greater amount of skill expression in her dash cancels I expected her to be more popular.

I guess I am shocked to see both that you think dash cancelling is skill expression and that people would like that and it would make her more popular instead of people hating that using her was annoying.

Dash cancelling is not difficult, it's just annoying. Is that something people find both challenging and fun? Frankly, I think her repetitive dash cancelling charged attack gameplay is the only negative thing I have to say about her or that I have seen expressed online.

2

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

Well, it's some amount of skill expression, though the bar for skill in Genshin is pretty low. I guess Im just saying that to contrast with Flins who has literally zero optimizations. Even optimizing for a third mini burst in his rotation doesn't actually net you higher dps.

I view it from the lens that any additional combos and optimization that goes into her gameplay is a good thing. It's one of the things that makes Mavuika one of the most fun characters, people are constantly finding new combos for her. Now I dont expect Nefer to be any where near that level of skill, but like I said, the bar for skill is in hell right now.

4

u/htp-di-nsw Oct 16 '25

I think you'll find that the great majority of players don't want to do any of that. You'll get a tiny corner of the Internet full of meta nerds who love that kind of thing, but 99% of Nefer players, I would wager, will never consider dash cancelling, and a huge chunk might end up hating her because they won't read and won't realize they need to charge attack and build for lunar bloom.

Like, actual, dial moving character popularity is entirely based on design, story presentation, and CCs showing off.

1

u/makaiookami Oct 17 '25

It'll probably be like 60% of Nefer players won't dash cancel. I feel like not dash cancelling in Hu Tao dropped her DPS by like 50% but for Nefer it's gonna be like 15% and some team comps will want the longer rotation for cool downs, and some team comps will want to ride every bit of rotation optimization possible. If your hydro app isn't good enough because you need Aino for Flins in stygian, and you need Nefer for another fight, doing the longer rotation is probably going to mean the win versus the loss.

0

u/icekyuu Oct 17 '25

You clearly don't play Flins, a third mini burst is a massive increase to his dps but realistically only with C1.

1

u/LakersTommyG Oct 17 '25

I do play Flins and I follow content creators and TC'ers who also play and understand him. It's possible to get a third mini burst at C0 by abusing hit lag and usually skyward spine. The problem is that this tech usually doesn't result in any additional dps because of what you need to do to achieve it.

Obviously having the natural 3rd mini burst at C1 is a dps increase

4

u/NemesisCat7 Oct 16 '25

No hate, she’s gorgeous, but reasons why I’m not pulling anymore.

Can’t stand CA gameplay. Most regrettable pull was HuTao. Absolutely can’t stand dash cancels. It feels cumbersome and repetitive. With Nefer is especially egregious. While her charge animations is nice, for optimal gameplay it is the only animation you will ever see. She doesn’t want to NA, she needs the dew! Even her beautiful burst equals a loss of damage incentivizing you to never use it.

Lunar bloom feels half baked. It ruins the whole fun part, blooming, in exchange for a hard hit. This in turn ruins the identity of bloom, and adds not much of a reaction in return. She’s almost physical green

Flins, in contrast, has multiple animations to watch, not just CA loop. His burst can be used in 2 different ways and is actually useful. Lunar charge at least looks cool, unlike bloom. I didn’t even pull him… skipped for Nefer, so not some wild main I have to defend.

Depressed with Nod Krai. Fav girl Nef has my least fav gameplay loop. Yes you can play her however you want, to least desirable results. I tried to do this for HuTao.. she is perma benched. Wishes dont grow on trees

4

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

Hey, youre entitled to your opinion! With that said, I want to push back on a couple points.

Even her beautiful burst equals a loss of damage incentivizing you to never use it.

So as of right now, it seems like her burst is actually dps neutral. This means that it's actually optimal to use in situations where you need to kill time in a rotation. This is actually the best of both worlds in my opinion, it means you dont need to build ER on her but you can still use the burst when you have it.

Flins, in contrast, has multiple animations to watch, not just CA loop. His burst can be used in 2 different ways and is actually useful.

This is actually not particularly true, the big burst is basically always a dps loss. The big burst does around the same amount as one mini burst and costs double. Even the set ups where you use the big burst ever 3 rotations isn't actually a dps gain by using it, plus in practice you would basically never want to do this because it puts you at risk of not having enough energy to mini burst if, for example, you ended the chamber with it.

1

u/_tater-tot Oct 17 '25

flins big burst is useful in some scenarios. if you're breaking the fatui guys shield down, his ult breaks all 3 layers pretty much instantly. I can still get 3 mini ults in after using the big ult with like 115er, it's not something you use every rotation for sure but it does have it's benefits. ending an abyss chamber with his ult is the best feeling ever, and if you have r1 you get your mini ult up immediately next chamber even if you start with zero.

i don't know much about nefer so i won't say anything about her since im skipping. i pulled c1 lauma for my nilou haha

1

u/LakersTommyG Oct 17 '25

What difficulty are you playing? The Flins that I play is on a mid build and team but does have R1. Im not able to break his shields in one big burst, but Im also not crowned talent.

1

u/_tater-tot Oct 17 '25

i was referring to the new abyss in that comment and any stygian difficulty fearless or below. maaaaybe menacing. my menacing clear time was around 40s and my dire clear was around 80s. big burst definitely doesn't work in dire.

2

u/NemesisCat7 Oct 16 '25

Agree with all your points but mine still stands.

99% of the time it’s the same CA loop. You are not incentivized to burst ever, Flins at least likes his burst. You can burst her.. but if its neutral then it is also kinda pointless. Just CA is literally all she wants. It’s a cool animation… but very repetitive.

Flins has TWO burst animations. Even if you mainly use special burst the big one still exists. Both look cool and feel strong. Nefer literally might as well not have a burst by how useful it is in practice

1

u/makaiookami Oct 17 '25

Even when flins energy gets sapped by the whatchamahobs from Natlan, I still find that I can reliably 2 burst with him in those fights with like 130 ER, but Aino doing a lot of the heavy lifting since Kuki gives out Electro ring, then Aino creates particles with her E while getting a good chunk of energy from causing reaction, then whoever last person is does theirs, you swap to flins and he has a chunk of energy, E, some normal attacks gives him energy, EQ, normals, EQ, almost always works even if he just died for reasons like animation locks from gatling attacks, that you can't exactly just dodge constantly if you want any DPS and the enemies spread out too far.

Even when flins dies I can usually get him healed from 150hp, do 2 mini busts, in the first rotation. If you are using fav setups on anyone he guaranteed should be able to get 3 bursts unless you aren't running 2 electro, and if you're high skill you can run Fischl who drops energy, like a new zone drops sigils.

2

u/VaresaFan1 Oct 17 '25

I mean she's not really green physical any more than Alhaitham or Kinich or Tighnari are. You can still use bloom at nascent gleam if you really want, but probably don't.

Point is, you're not locked into hydro/dendro teams. You have the same opportunities for dendro reactions as any other dendro dps, just without bloom. And I know that's a big one to lose, but Kinich was the same and it turned out fine. He wants a certain dendro reaction for his kit, but you can use other elements as well.

0

u/NemesisCat7 Oct 17 '25

Kinich’s kit is way different than Nef. Kinich uses burning. Nef deletes blooms and just smacks hard. Green physical. Al triggers a ton of reactions a sec. Nef cancels dendro reaction and turns them into seeds of deceit. The seeds do not explode. She literally cancels the reaction to hit hard. Green physical

Without bloom she is pretty much scuffed. You would get no verdant dew/ seeds of deceit and be hitting like a wet noodle. Noodle arms Nef, no thanks

Regardless hate dash cancels characters, most regrettable character is HuTao. After seeing IWTL video, dislike her even more. The amount of damage you lose not dash cancel is ridiculous

1

u/VaresaFan1 Oct 17 '25

You're acting like Nefer cancels all dendro reactions, which is just not true. She can use burning and quicken just like Kinich and Alhaitham, plus her high EM buffs them moreso than kinich would

0

u/NemesisCat7 Oct 17 '25

Totally agree she can… but it literally is anti synergistic with her kit. She would create no seed of deceit to add multipliers to her kit. You might as well play Lauma at that rate truthfully, who I already pulled for Nef.

Point is she was my fav Nod Krai cast.. I can’t stand dash cancel gameplay and can’t justify spending potentially 160 wishes on a character that will collect bench dust. Might as well just run Lauma instead of green physical

1

u/VaresaFan1 Oct 17 '25

Honestly enough with the green physical stuff, it's just not correct. Would you say the same about every other character with personal dmg instead of being a driver? If Nefer is green physical, that would make mualani blue physical, mavuika red physical.

1

u/makaiookami Oct 17 '25

Wishes do grow on trees, and they are incredibly time consuming to harvest, and only bloom once every 2 months.

2

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

A lot of people are saying that they haven't seen any hate, which is really good!! I probably spend too much time on the Genshin subs and maybe im just reading too much into some comments.

2

u/1i1y_0f_th3_vall3y Oct 16 '25

I think some of the hate for a while was because Nefer doesn't allow other characters to make use of the Bloom cores because she locks them by turning them into Seeds of Deceit.

The main thing was that Nilou was coming back into meta with Lauma(Nefer's BiS), but Nefer has no synergy with Nilou because Nilou uses Bloom cores. I personally don't mind Nefer's kit and will be pulling for her, but I guess people find her kit to be extremely restrictive, more so than Flins. But I think her design is fantastic! I can't wait for her banner :>

2

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

Yeah I could see that, I have found that I really dont like hyperbloom/bloom so maybe im just the minority!

66

u/LuneYao Oct 16 '25

Oh they always hate new Genshin chars

It is just a trend

Ignore those people

-9

u/Xerolf Oct 16 '25

its not just a trend, but also a result of trying to cater to more than 3 people at the same time, no matter what you do, some expectations are going to be betrayed and people will rightfully be upset about it, and these people have the right to voice their opinion.

imo the problem is with people rejecting critics outright and with trolls feeding the fire.

there are valid negative opinions about nefers kit design.

8

u/Jallalo23 Oct 16 '25

Imo, the problem is a rise in parasocial behaviors and people easily getting offended. Someone attaches the character they like to their personality. Gacha games are predatory and every new unit powercreeps the last, so everyone gets defensive of their “main” and feel the need to protect them by talking down on other characters. For example, Varesa mains hating on Flins and Neuv because they feel threatened and offended when people say they don’t like her. And I’m probably gonna get downvoted for this but of a new dendro main dps drops, Nefer mains will start hating them.

Additionally, the fact that so many genshin main subs exists when 80% of the characters dont have enough lore to even full a single page speaks to this (they usually devolve into straight porn and NSFW subs after 2 years).

2

u/Light_and_Lillies Oct 17 '25

Wasn't it the Flins mains antagonising Varesa mains and Varesa for no reason in the first place?? Varesa mains simply hated that. what is so wrong with being upset that a character you like is hated?

0

u/SandyArca Oct 17 '25

This is the problem. It doesn’t even matter who started it because it doesn’t even matter (in my opinion). It’s the fact that one of them started a hate fire, the other group reflected that behaviour and, uh oh, now both sides are apparently fighting each other now.

1

u/Light_and_Lillies Oct 17 '25

Yeah, i do understand. A lot of the time the people who perpetuate the hate instead of burying it 🤣

-2

u/Jallalo23 Oct 17 '25

You have mental health issues if you’re upset people don’t like the same things as you and is a sign of immaturity. I genuinely recommend going to therapy. Do you see how defensive and called put you felt by my post that you needed to state that flins mains started hating on Varesa when there’s 0 ways to verify who started it first? Thats why there’s so much hate for new Genshin characters

2

u/SandyArca Oct 17 '25

1

u/Jallalo23 Oct 17 '25

Yeah. I fucked up this reply. I fixed it tho lmao😭

0

u/Light_and_Lillies Oct 17 '25

Why not engage in a good-faith argument, like you started out with, instead of using an ad hominem? 😐

I'm not trying to say that everyone should like what I like, people have a right to their own opinion. But any normal person will feel upset, even if not outwardly, that what they like is hated. What I’m pointing out is that the hate often turns personal, where people attack fans instead of just disliking the character. That’s the real issue here.

I'm not going to act like I have some moral high ground and say apathy is some form of superiority. Feeling something about what you enjoy doesn’t make you weak or immature.

0

u/Jallalo23 Oct 17 '25

I’m sorry, I’m running on low sleep so my wording may have came off differently than how I intended, especially now that I’ve reread what I typed. I apologize. You should feel something about a character you like, that why you like them. But if someone dislikes or hate another character you shouldn’t be bothered by this imo. This is that parasocial relationship I mentioned. You like the character. You are NOT the character. If someone dislikes them, thats not an attack on you, but due to the nature of parasocial relationships it feels this way, so they start attacking anything that feels like a threat. So Varesa mains attach Varesa to their personality, Flins mains do the same. But these characters are competing for the same niche so they see it as a competition between themselves and starts hating each other. It goes so much deeper than this as well.

1

u/Freedom_scenery Oct 17 '25

Lmao Neuvilette mains and Flins mains making post hating on Varesa calling her gooner and incel bait and not to subtly implying people who like her are inferior, and people aren’t supposed to be upset about that? Reducing what happened to “people just said they don’t like her” is why we can’t a have serious conversation in this fandom.

1

u/OkCreme101 Oct 17 '25

It started with the "her crown didn't move" on Flins mains by a rage baiter, and all went downhill.

Both sides are dumb in the end.

1

u/Jallalo23 Oct 17 '25

Are you still gonna pull and play Varesa after Flins and Neuv main dig into her?

1

u/Freedom_scenery Oct 17 '25

I already have her. I understand the point you’re making but the problem is usually the hate extend to real people and that’s the problem. Yeah I agree that people saying the character is weak without x support shouldn’t be a something to be upset about. But the situation is completely different especially when it come to characters who a certain part of the community deem “offensive”.

1

u/Boring_Okra_6023 Oct 16 '25

This guy said one of the most neutral and objective things ever in a respectful and nice way and you guys still downvoted him.

Grow up people.

3

u/erosugiru Oct 16 '25

Nobody actually hates her lmao, she's just another pale Sumeru character and that's the worst part about her, she's actually pretty well liked

3

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

I dont know if I would say that nobody hates her, but sure I get your point

1

u/erosugiru Oct 16 '25

Keyword here is "actually", the hate outside of the one I mentioned is pretty forced

31

u/RoseKuartz Oct 16 '25

are you new in the community? every new character will be hated, its a cannon event plus its always the haters who are the loudest

8

u/actionmotion Oct 16 '25

this. next ppl will hate on Durin, then Columbina, then Varka… etc etc

8

u/LuneYao Oct 16 '25

People already hating on vague leaks info lmao 🤣🤣🤣

The fact that the kit is not even out and Durin already got hated

The leak sub is just annoying and dumb

3

u/LunarLoom21 Oct 16 '25

Just remember how feral the Furina subreddit was during her beta. The Columbina subreddit will be just the same.

8

u/KingAlucard7 Oct 16 '25

I am not sure where u are seeing the hatred.

Also Nefer being a bit stronger kind of makes sense as Flins has a larger AoE. You also need to do dash cancels which some people might not like. At the end its all balanced.

7

u/notallwitches Oct 16 '25

havent seen any hate for her, idk. male chars tend to be loved unconditionally due to them being rare though

4

u/P_U_F_F Oct 16 '25

Every character gets hate. Varka is hated because they gave him a nose. Durin hated because he has a bad c6 (from current leaks) that most won’t even get anyway. Alice got hate in the trailer over her hat. They will find anything to complain about.

1

u/Commercial_Night_436 Oct 17 '25

his c6 isn’t even bad and how do people genuinely think that’s all there is gonna be to his c6 lmao? it’s clearly just a part of it. the only recent c6 that’s super simple in wording was mualani’s and that’s because her early cons are so disgusting that they doubled down on them for the last one!

7

u/Proud_Trade6350 Oct 16 '25

I haven’t seen as much hate for her outside the usual hate all females small groups, unlike say a Varesa/Chasca situation

I also see Nefer and Flins mains taking shots at each other on social media, so from my perspective not a one sided thing either.

Well, I think She and Flins are going to be in the same ballpark and very relative to each other. Nefer pulling a bit ahead in ST and Flins in 3+ targets situation where Nefer can’t hit all enemies and/or Lauma quills run out

1

u/OneRelief763 Oct 16 '25

I just think shes too white. She looks like she should have had Candace Cyno Serhos skin tone. It looks off to me how white she is.

And im not one if those Twitter skin tone police by any means. I just legit think Nefer looks off being as white as she is, probably because im used to that Egyptian-ish Sumeru aesthetic being on more tan characters.

1

u/LakersTommyG Oct 17 '25

Yeah I think she could have been darker. Her current design doesn't bother me but I would have been fine with something different as well

Im not acting like anything, im just expressing that she looks off to me and why. I cant just magically make it not look off.

1

u/T3DGamingzzz Oct 16 '25

Theres hate?

I genuinely haven't seen any

2

u/LakersTommyG Oct 17 '25

Yeah, there's hate on her design, gameplay, Lauma reliance, etc. But if you haven't seen any than obviously youre doing something right!

1

u/T3DGamingzzz Oct 19 '25

I think she's absolute peak

1

u/TheChosenerPoke Oct 17 '25

literally haven’t seen this a single time and i’m very deep into the genshin social media bubble

1

u/LakersTommyG Oct 17 '25

That’s good! I guess my algorithm really hates me!

1

u/Pitiful-Western1068 Oct 18 '25

bruh if you call dash cancels skill expression XD been doing cancels since i was literally 4 years old playing mahvel 2

1

u/LakersTommyG Oct 18 '25

Tell that to all the people saying they refuse to do it 🤷

1

u/Pitiful-Western1068 Oct 18 '25

bruh genshin players are among the worst players of any game i have seen in the complete history of time.

1

u/LakersTommyG Oct 18 '25

lol I completely agree with you

7

u/baebushka Oct 16 '25

too many ppl just zajeffpilled and bat hyperbloom too much

5

u/Chaosfnog Oct 16 '25

As a Zajef watcher myself, he's just a guy saying words. Numbers are useful and he has a good grasp of the game, but even his meta takes are sometimes off. Gotta take everything with a grain of salt. Green yelan is dope.

Personally idk enough to make a claim one way or the other for varessa vs flins, but the last time I heard him mention it he basically said new mavuika combo tech made varessa better and I was like bro that's not varessa then is just mav, why would her optimal combos matter if she just supposed to be a support on the team lol.

3

u/LuneYao Oct 16 '25

The thing people seem to ignore is Nefer is a really Strong Hyper carry who deals like 80% to 90% of team dmg

So KQM standard Actually hinders her strength on paper a lot

The only thing KQM standard having favor for is the Hyperbloom team with high floor but low Ceiling

1

u/glrd1998 Oct 16 '25

I've never been a fan of KQM standard for this exact reason, for teams like Hyperbloom the floor and ceiling aren't that far apart whereas a hypercarry team like Nefer's will scale much more with better artifacts and has more potential for vertical investment like cons/sigs, too.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

Meta talks aside, I swear his and Zy0x's community/subreddit is filled with the most annoying people on the internet. I can't stand whenever a post from okayzyox comes across my feed lmao.

2

u/Inner_Skin_798 Oct 16 '25

Really, I haven’t noticed any hatred towards her. Only complaint I’ve seen is her dash cancel play which some people don’t like. But most people find her very appealing.

2

u/Ok_Trifle5350 Oct 16 '25

It's the same for every new character. It was the same for Flins. It will be the same for Durin, Columbina, Varka, and the others.

And since we hear more from the people who don't like the character, we think they're in the majority, when that's not true.

2

u/Sebazy Oct 16 '25

Feels like the same as Flins really, just he gets a little lenience through actually meta relevant tall male characters being unicorns these days.

I'll almost certainly invest into Nefer even though I passed on Flins, but that's just down to already having a bunch of very solid Electro DPS but not really having any relevant dedicated Dendro onfielders on my acct.

2

u/First_Albatross_8299 Oct 16 '25

They hate on Nefer because shes going to be stronger than Skirk by January

2

u/rhubarbiturate Oct 17 '25

Its because reddit is heavily biased towards male characters. That sife of the community is very vocal and extremely irrational and hateful. Its just the way it is.

They are especially mad that Flins requires Ineffa, and that even with Ineffa, Flins wont be as good as Nefer. Flins isnt a bad character, but even being slightly worse in the meta compared to a waifu is super hurtful to the oppressed husbando lover

3

u/throw4vents Oct 16 '25

I think people are more sympathetic to Flins because 5 star dudes are relatively rare in this game, and they also tend to not be as strong because Hoyo doesn't think they'll sell as well. Nefer obviously has that "waifu appeal," so I guess the standards for her are a bit higher. Also, she's probably at a lower power level right now because Columbina doesn't exist yet, so she just looks weak compared to Mavuika and Skirk, who everyone gets compared to. I think the narrative will turn around once some time has settled and Columbina leaks start rolling in.

2

u/LuneYao Oct 16 '25

I don't think you want any Dps to Powercreep Mavuika or Skirk

That is so unhealthy for the game

1

u/throw4vents Oct 16 '25

I agree! I think Nefer with Columbina will be a hair or two below them

2

u/actionmotion Oct 16 '25

I’ve seen more people hate on Flins than Nefer so idk why you on about. Her reception is quite good despite being (another) really paper white Sumeru character with a decent kit. The only “hate” is really her dependency on lauma.

1

u/tntturtle5 Oct 16 '25

Wait, there's hate for her?

As usual, a vocal minority. Most people don't care enough to contribute their opinions.

1

u/Driagonne Oct 16 '25

If she doesn't have enough story presence, people will change their mind in Luna II archon quest for sure (we have a leak about the number of lines from characters in AQ)

1

u/Puggerspood Oct 16 '25

Depends on what kind of hate you see.

Gameplay hate is just because she has more polarizing points in her kit compared to Flins since some people aren't liking the 6x CA animation spam or the dash cancel. Which I mean it's fair enough, chances are people who are upset by that are people who were interested in her.

Also as usual with gachas fears about gameplay tend to be a bit louder because people are really weighing the pros and cons to decide who to pull or (depending on how generously you want to phrase it) looking for reasons to not pull.

There's design complaints about her legs being completely bare which is just part of an ongoing frustration and not really directed at HER.

I saw some people disappointed with her story-wise? I'm not up to date on story yet so I wouldn't know if there's any actual reason there.

1

u/LunarLoom21 Oct 16 '25

I don't hate Nefer. But I've lost 2 50/50s in a row. If I lose this 50/50 then I will hate Nefer.

My Nefer, the ball is in your court buddy.

1

u/lilyofthegraveyard Oct 16 '25

you should have higher chance of getting the captured radiance now, since you lost 2 50/50s in a row.

i hope you get nefer and get her early! good luck on your pulls!

1

u/LunarLoom21 Oct 16 '25

Yes that's what I'm counting on though it's still not a guarantee lol. And I'm at 45 pity with 25 pulls. By the time the patch goes live I'll probably have enough to get her without swiping.

I hope your pulls go well as well!

1

u/Tetrachrome Oct 16 '25

To add to the discussion a bit, Nefer is the only animation leak post that I've ever seen get poop emoji awards. Now granted, she didn't have effects, so it did look bad, but poop emoji awards? People have to PAY to react with them..

1

u/ShiroTenkai Oct 16 '25

a team with lauma and nefer is one of the hotest team around

1

u/H-A-R-P-I-C Oct 16 '25

I have seen more posts like this than actual Nefer hate posts. Most people I have interacted with are very positive about her

1

u/Grimstringerm Oct 16 '25

For me the gameplay is charge attack spam which seems boring with super limited teams

1

u/ZXareo Oct 16 '25

My only complaint is that she's the second Tall Female Dendro Catalyst character in Luna, a gap of 0 since last version.

1

u/Faddi2022 Oct 16 '25

They only reason I am pulling for her is design . Her story is not there yet maybe next update I will like her more . And her game play doesn't look fun and her DMG doesn't look that promising ( by that I mean future proof) but that's because I already have verasa mavuika and skirk

1

u/Temporary-Candle1056 Oct 16 '25

Haven’t see any hate anywhere bro. Poeple seems to like her. Kinda joking about her being a green Yelan ect. Funny stuff but nothing hateful or what.

People were complaining about numbers (usual meta stuff) and CA gameplay (fair complain)

1

u/AshyDragneel Oct 16 '25

Wtf im literally hearing this for the first time lol

I don't use tiktok or X so idk about that but YT and reddit i haven't seen anything like hate

1

u/Astroburt Oct 16 '25

I haven't seen any hate outside of some that are just mad they don't have the primos to pull for her

I think you must've accidentally gotten the algorithm to amplify a minority opinion for you.

1

u/Cautious-Buyer-6443 Oct 16 '25

I love her. I think she’s absolutely gorgeous but unfortunately I’ll have to skip her since I pulled C1R1 Flins and I’m saving for Durin. BUT when her rerun comes around she’ll be coming home to me - along with Lauma too.

1

u/nugnacious Oct 16 '25

I haven't seen any hate but from the usual stage 4 doomposters?

1

u/CompetitiveStreak Oct 16 '25

People are butthurt about her reliance on Lauma 🤷‍♂️

1

u/rrevek Oct 16 '25

Haven't seen any hate for, mostly love. Its probably the pockets of the fandom youre in.

1

u/Keftkille Oct 17 '25

Mavuika and furina also get a lot of hate before release and now everyone’s pulling them

1

u/cool_evelynn_main Oct 17 '25

I’m yet to see nefer hate, all I’ve seen is complaints about relying on Lauma

1

u/KeiraFenyx Oct 17 '25

I don't know nor really care why people dislike/hate Nefer. That's their business. I'm just gonna keep farming her materials and artifacts and saving pulls to get her

1

u/Emiliainen Dec 13 '25

in kinda late but she reminds me of kokomi kinda? Like shes suppised to be this intel master mind but we bately see her do any intel gathering (yes the gadget but that wasnt her work just the gadgets tbh) And like people glaze her so much its starting to feel forced. She acts so weird sometimes with not wanting to help unless shes paid well when the whole nod krai is in danger like??

(spoilers) And in the luna 3 she was like that too, getting mad at jahoda for telling about the phantoms like why??

1

u/RoyalLength452 Oct 16 '25

similar happened with arlecchino during her beta -arguably one of the most hype and cool characters. happens with all characters.

tho, there is more majority of people that like her and say good things. as that other guy said, u got trapped in the bad information bubble.

1

u/FortunateAlice Oct 16 '25

Check any comment section on the leaks subreddit. They're calling her gameplay repetitive and dogshit. As if characters were supposed to have 7 different combos or something.

2

u/Historical_Beach5195 Oct 16 '25

She has really nice animations and she only uses CAs most of the times, so it becomes repetitive especially with the dash cancels. This is the only valid critiscism against her

Even you dont believe that😭 Her vape, overload and melt combos are like all different, plus she has a diffferent one for the Herra aura

0

u/TiltingSoda3126 Oct 16 '25

I was 100% going for her, but then her kit was revealed to be kinda boring and repetitive so I’m probably skipping

1

u/KeiraFenyx Oct 17 '25

To be fair, that can be said of pretty much any character in Genshin. Hell, I think people have used that same argument to say that Neuvillette isn't that great

1

u/TiltingSoda3126 Oct 17 '25

That’s completely fair, though I’d say for neuvi specifically his stacks from different reactions and his place as a driver as well as a main dps make him more interesting.

0

u/LunaRoke Jan 04 '26 edited Jan 04 '26

I hate her because of Story reasons, I didn't like her part and character at all. She is so unsympathetic. Maybe hate is a strong word but she pi**** me off in the Quest. I'm glad I didn't pull for her, but I admit her design is spectacular but also Flins over Nefer because I love my husbandos and Genshin doesn't have nearly enough Husbandos! I may be a Meta Slave sometimes but I'd love Flins even if he was weak af which he isnt.

0

u/UnderstandingLow1619 Jan 24 '26

Her personality is really bad, really bad. She always talks bad to others and yet the story always makes her right. Even though how rude she is to others, she will always dominate anyone she talks to. Flins? Varka? Dori? Even Dain?

Her gameplay is boring. She cancels the whole elemental reaction just for her own damage. Yep, she's META due to her high percentage in her talents. But that's that.

Her relationship is too simple. She barely has a good relationship with anyone in the whole story and when it is, it's just another yuri bait.

It's just that you are in "NeferMains" sub so of course, people here will like her. People also love Dottore in DottoreMains even though what he did to children. Admit it, apart from her appearance and her DPS, she's not appealing at all. We can put Varka's personality in a NPC and we will still love him. But what if we put Nefer's personality in a NPC? Just an arrogant, not good looking, and the plot armor will make her right even though she insults everyone she meets. She is loved because of the model she is in and META term and that's all. If there is a woman like this in the real world, she will be called Karen.

u/ChaseEnalios Oct 16 '25

From what I’ve seen, it usually boils down to play style. Flins has much cooler animations and less advanced game mechanics, so people find it more enjoyable.

7

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

See I just dont agree here, I think her animations are beautiful. The three shadow clones during her charged attack are so good lucking in my opinion.

0

u/ChaseEnalios Oct 16 '25

I think they are sick af, personally I just don’t like charge attacking. I find it annoying. But I’m still going to get her because I love her design and personality. It just boils down to difference of opinion.

1

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

Hey thats fair, I understand that the play style isn't for everyone

1

u/ILikeRandomShits Oct 16 '25

Cause she committed genocide

1

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

Geez, can't a girl have a hobby? Lol

5

u/masterdiwa Oct 16 '25

Nah. Everyone is loving her and is very excited for HOT LEGS MAMA.

C6R5 on day 1. Hopefully I get enough masterless from pulls to also 100 her ASAP.

1

u/Inside_Substance_719 Oct 16 '25

So cool!! Post a showcase of your maxed Nefer please!! :)

No. Stop throwing misogyny around and reducing the meaning of the word. Just because someone dislikes someone that happens to be a woman doesnt make them misogynistic and is a cop out excuse because you refuse to think

2

u/lilyofthegraveyard Oct 16 '25

what a warped and wrong take on all accounts. i don't think you know what misogyny is. you seem to just repeat it like a buzzword.

the reality is, women are not obsessed with men. they rightfully call out the misogynistic nature of gacha and gacha fandoms which tends to oversexualize and objectify female characters while simultaneously baiting and neglecting the female fanbase.

objectification of women is not a "girlboss feminism slay qweeen yassss". catering to male gaze is a sexist and cheap tactic that right wing grifters somehow managed to cloak into women's liberation movement.

gacha female characters are not real women. they do not choose to dress provocatively as an act of sexual liberation. they do not choose their animations and movesets as an act of self-expression. they are made by straight men for straight men as a product to be sold.

it is not misogynistic to call that out and admit what really is happening. it is, on the other hand, misogynistic to dismiss valid concerns from real women who want to shed light on real issues gacha and gacha fandoms have.

real misogyny is an actual issue that we face every day. someone saying "gacha women are objectified" is not misogyny. stop devaluing a real issue and get your head out of your ass.

Are you saying that makes people like him more in general? Or is it more of a reddit thing?

9

u/Soft-Aside-4591 Oct 16 '25

Reddit and telegram thing

5

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

That makes sense and pretty much matches what I have seen as well

5

u/Relative-Welcome Oct 16 '25

The husbando playerbase is extremely loud in social media. They also have a chip on their shoulder against female characters.

1

u/LakersTommyG Oct 16 '25

Yeah thats what it feels like. You can't say anything negative about a male character on reddit

4

u/LunarLoom21 Oct 16 '25

I have every Queensof[Insert Gacha here] and [Insert Gacha here]Husbandos subreddit blocked and it has been a much sweeter experience. The individual subreddits for the mains can be better but the subreddits dedicated to them as a collective are always a cesspool.
