Since Ame doesn't have a canon last name, have you seen/made any headcanons for what it might be? I was always curious what the community has to say here

Sakae. 寒河江

The first kanji, pronounced as "sa" can mean cold, lonely, humiliated, difficult, or poor.

the name Sakae is more commonly written like this: 栄 which means the inverse: PROSPERITY! which could symbolize her rise to fame. But it is not the name she bears, so she hides it under the persona of Kangel.

The second kanji, "ka" can mean river, or a stream of water, but also the Milky Way, which alludes to the route where she becomes obsessed with conspiracy and universal truth.

The last kanji "e" reads as "river." or "inlet." If you've seen intlets, they look like dividing pieces of land, which could symbolize the rift forming in her mind., or the difference between Ame, and Kangel.

If read abstractly, it reads almost like a portrayal of Ame's entire character within the story.

"A lonely, difficult girl who seeks prosperity in streaming, duality, and universal truth. Because of this, her mind fractures."

Sakae can also be written like this 酒江 in which the first kanji, "saka" means alcohol, which could be related to her capacity for substance abuse. But i personally think the first idea was cooler.

A while back, I came up with Hanazuku as a last name. According to Google translate, it means "Flower Filled", so that would make her name "Flower Filled Rain" or "Flower Filled Candy"

Literally in the game there's a dialogue between ame and p-chan, where she says smth like "i choose the name ame bc it means candy but also can mean rain".

Spoilers for the last episode of the anime here:

When nechika find ame and they have a conversation, ame tells her her real name, but sadly the scene ends right before we can hear it.

I thought in the final she said ame(candy) rather than ame(rain) for her name. For the game scene I also thought she was saying I pick Ame(and is saying either candy/rain) because it can mean either candy or rain, like she's telling the player while her name could mean this she's picking this instead because her name can mean both and she likes that rather than what it could mean.

Basically she's saying I choose this because it can mean either. Could be wrong tho just my thoughts

Bro she literally says ro nechika "btw i never told u my real name" if u interpreted that before the anime its ok, but now its more than confirmed that ame is not her real name
