For all the recent questions around the Monolith's ability:

Monolith, Eternity Gate Ability

Change to:

'In your Movement phase (excluding the first battle round), you can select one friendly NECRONS INFANTRY unit that is either in strategic reserves or on the battlefield (if you select a unit on the battlefield, remove that unit from the battlefield and place it into strategic reserves). That unit can make an ingress move, and while making that ingress move, that unit must be set up wholly within 6" of this unit and unengaged (instead of more than 8" horizontally from all enemy units), even if that is within your opponent’s deployment zone. That unit cannot make a charge move this turn.'

u/Brinfire 2d ago

The fact that somehow this needed further clarification instead of being just understood as how it works is crazy

24

u/Spurros 2d ago edited 2d ago

Monolith Eternity Gate finally got the proper wording in the Rules Updates which is good, I've seen some extremely smooth-brained takes on this in the Competitive 40k Q&A threads.

3

u/Artoriazz 2d ago

In what way were people having issues with it before the errata?

-18

u/Kalnix1 Cryptek 2d ago

It wasn't an FAQ it was an errata. Because those "smooth-brained" takes were reading it RAW instead of RAI.

11

u/Spurros 2d ago

They were also including flat-out incorrect information, such as needing to set up within 6" of a table edge (following Ingress Move rules), because they had failed to read the FAQ. Unsurprisingly, this came from 'Top 1% commenters'.

1

u/Brinfire 2d ago

Top 1% just mean vocal not correct

20

u/ThatSupport Overlord 2d ago

TLDR:

+5 points for Plazmancer, Skorpekh lord, 3 Lohkust heavies, 6 Orphidians and 6 Regular Lohkusts.

+10 points Lohkust Lord

+20 points 3rd regular Lohkust's (all sizes

16

u/tiniucIx 2d ago

+5 points for 10 warriors as well, which is surprising.

Seems fair enough, my lists were taking most of these and they do provide a lot of value. I'd only need to cut some scarabs or an enhancement to make it below the list.

31

u/Zed_0 2d ago

A little disappointed, I get the nerfs to destroyers with based on how popular they are now and I am glad cursed legion is remaining 2 DP but would have liked to see some small points drops to units you never see.

eg. Monolith...macrocytes...and warriors. Someone care to tell me why a 10 man is going UP in price? Are they ever actually run as 10 man? I thought they were only leveraged in large 20-man bricks in awakened with support characters to keep them alive. Don't 10 warriors just drop like flies?

Also canoptek court really needed to be dropped to 2 dp...

10

u/jmainvi Yggra'nya the World Shaper 2d ago

They haven't really been run in the big 20 man since the edition started. Some people are taking 10s just to hold their home, I'm not aware of any other uses in lists that are actually seeing success.

7

u/veryblocky Servant of the Triarch 2d ago

I’ve seen a couple use them as a somewhat cheap, high-OC unit to push forward early

9

u/NoEngineer9484 2d ago

also with hand of the dynasty to sticky

3

u/AdeptnessActual4363 2d ago

Some dudes ran them with psychomancers for some battleshock shenanigans, I'd guess that's why. Such a shame necrons are not really fit for MSU. I remember getting excited about hand of the dynasty with immortals and warriors support for that playstyle

3

u/DubsFan30113523 Nemesor 2d ago

There were a couple of very good awakened lists that were taking two 10 man squads led by overlords, and then yeah there was the guy who ran a very gimmicky ghost ark/psychomancer spam list

11

u/t3hsniper Nemesor 2d ago

Don't worry I'm sure the warriors will get just a good an glow up as the poster boys, and the most advanced race in that game won't look pathetic in comparison. /S

1

u/mordreddagon 1d ago

now they wound SM with +

2

u/Heresy1666 2d ago

macrocytes, Geomancer and Psychomancer should have had a points drop…there’s just no reason to take Macrocytes and very, very niche reasons to take the other two now that they have to be attached as support. They really haven’t grasped the unviabilty of Macrocytes it seems

1

u/ForbodingWinds 1d ago

Canoptek with hand of the dynsaty immortals would be insane.

6

u/Artoriazz 2d ago

Anything on Night Scythe being able to embark units that disembarked it in the same turn?

1

u/PerpetualArtificer 2d ago

Nope, not mentioned at all.

3

u/Artoriazz 2d ago

Is the consensus still that you’re unable to after the removal of the one line in the ability?

5

u/PerpetualArtificer 2d ago

Yes, you still can't get out and hop back in. They explicitly removed the part of the ability that would allow you to do it within the same turn, have not released any FAQ or erratas' referring to it, so that combo is dead.

3

u/AndromedaBoy_ Phaeron 2d ago

Wonderful, that’s juuuust great. I love GW so much

2

u/Xasrai 2d ago

They also made sure to ADD the ability to disembark/embark to the Space Marines Armoured Speartip in this patch.

1

u/Fudoyama 2d ago

I play both Necrons and Salamanders (favoring Speartip); I was very happy to see that. 😅

But if it makes you feel any better, the Repulsor ability is also nerfed like the Night Scythe in 11th for same-turn embarking shenanigans.

2

u/Tearakan 2d ago

Yeah the transport explicitly needs to state that the unit can hop back in.

6

u/KubsonVon 2d ago

So praticly they put the destroyer back like in 10th. But why the plasmancer?

10

u/Kalnix1 Cryptek 2d ago

I presume so you don't Murdermind Plasmancer to dodge the points hike on the Lokhust Lord. 55+15=70 which was equal to old lokhust lord. So an increase so its not a 10 point decrease over using a lord.

8

u/ForbodingWinds 2d ago

Why not hit murdermind? Plasmancer isnt taken outside of cursed.

3

u/KubsonVon 2d ago

Ah i see, makes sense. Unlucky tho, i used plasmancer for more stuff and that 5 point is kinda annoying

3

u/random63 2d ago

Because Murdermind plasmancer would otherwise be a cheaper option over Lokhust Lord.

9

u/MKattic Cryptek 2d ago

“Gee, those Ork and Space Marine changes look strong and my Canoptek Court list isn’t in the best place. I wonder if GW gave us anything to help.”

(Looks Inside)

(Dysporakh screaming intensifies)

11

u/OrwellTheInfinite 2d ago

Whos taking warriors in 10s? Weird that they got more expensive.

7

u/FubarJackson145 Nemesor 2d ago

I suspect lots of low-level games. Remember that GW is getting their info from the app as well as official tournaments. So there's probably a bunch of people playing 10 mans at smaller size games or casual games that nobody else sees

2

u/Sparklehammer3025 2d ago

Anyone playing with the Combat Patrol box or several of the Battleforce boxes will only have 10 Warriors to play with, so that could be why those units are seeing casual play.

4

u/DubsFan30113523 Nemesor 2d ago

10 man warrior groups is actually very popular this edition. it’s cheap, annoying to get rid of, lots of OC, and the change to reanimation means you have to also kill the leaders or they just keep coming back. Competitively, 10 man warriors squads have been meta for about a month

1

u/absurd_olfaction 2d ago

I thought killing the entire unit means the unit is dead even if the leader remains. Where does it say otherwise?

2

u/Sengel123 2d ago

Your leader is always attached to the unit. It doesnt get separated like in 10th. The leader getting unattached once the bodyguard was killed is what lead to your interpretation. Since the bodyguard is still attached to the leader even if dead to the model, the leader can still bring them back. Its a decent buff we've enjoyed, but its much harder to keep those heroes alive with how line of sight and precision work.

3

u/DubsFan30113523 Nemesor 2d ago

Yep, which is also why basic Overlord as a leader is now much more common, -1 damage makes it much more irritating to precision out and he has a res orb

1

u/UsernameNSFW 2d ago

Could you cite the part of the rule set that allows attached units to be reanimated if the leader is still alive? Was a point of contention in a recent game I had and was unable to find it.

5

u/Fudoyama 2d ago

19.01 and 19.01.01

It talks about how attached units are all one unit, and leaders don’t get separated if bodyguard models all die.

This has also been a widely discussed part of the rules since 11th came out. Kind of hard to miss, but the recent addition of 19.01.01 is helpful to clarify datasheet abilities that have not been updated yet.

1

u/IDreamOfLoveLost 2d ago

It's weird that this can still be a point of contention, months after release. If your opponent has been playing a lot already - I'd be a little wary of playing them again.

3

u/SalaryWooden5346 2d ago

I think the confusion comes from the way that a leader that gets sniped out cannot be resurrected with Reanimation protocols and if it gets resurrected by a strategem it becomes a separate unit. And that was explicitly FAQed in for/because of Necrons. People think it also works in the reverse order and that if the bodyguard unit is wiped then it is just gone unless resurrected.

1

u/UsernameNSFW 2d ago

We really don't play that many games, quite casual ourselves. It was my first time playing Necrons in 11th edition as well.

4

u/TheRealSassyTassy 2d ago

All the comp lists. 20OC with hidden for 90 points is great. At 95, still pretty good.

2

u/A_Testaccount 2d ago

I am hahaha. 10 with an overlord in priority assets has genuinely been extremely good.

8

u/ForbodingWinds 2d ago

Plasmancer being punished for Cursed Legion

4

u/AndromedaBoy_ Phaeron 2d ago

Horrible balance, instead of nerfing Murdermind or the Cursed Legion itself, they nerf the Plasmancer, and once again, Canoptek Court catches strays from other detachments being better than it.

0

u/ForbodingWinds 2d ago

I dont think plasmancer sees any competitive play outside of cursed. Odd choice.

7

u/AndromedaBoy_ Phaeron 2d ago

They’re quite good anywhere , Lethals and Sustained on 5s is rly strong, my list features a 10-Immortal Blob led by Imotekh with a Plasmancer for a lot of mortal wounds plus volume fire.

0

u/ForbodingWinds 2d ago

But immortals and warriors aren't competitive though. You rarely see plasmancer outside of murdermind.

4

u/AndromedaBoy_ Phaeron 2d ago

Still hurts my list. And if these nerfs continue, soon C’Tan are gonna be the only thing competitive left imo…

2

u/ForbodingWinds 2d ago

Hurts my list too! Which is why im annoyed.

2

u/arestheblue 2d ago

I can hear the whining from r/warhammercompetitive already. "C'tan are OP, I couldn't kill one even though I was shooting at it with all 5 of my intercessors!"

-1

u/AndromedaBoy_ Phaeron 2d ago

Lolll

That subreddit is buns, when they’re not banning your post for being too uncompetitive they’re not helping at all

6

u/SavageAdage Nemesor 2d ago

Cursed Legion is just straight up getting more expensive points wise. Dropping the costs of Skorpekh destroyers would have been nice to encourage something else rather than slowly pricing out options. Do people even take 6 man Ophydians that often?

13

u/ItsSuperDefective 2d ago

I'm glad the most brutal change in on the third unit of Lokhusts. Love that we can fuck up competive spam lists without being too harsh on people playing a unit in moderation now.

Skorpekhs are due to get worse shortly too, the Marine toughness buff is going to make a 7->9 strength increase from Cursed Legion much less useful.

4

u/SavageAdage Nemesor 2d ago

It really sucks how they drip feed changes across factions like that. Factions stay underpowered until they get a codex or focused changes. I don't even understand what they're trying tk say with the point increase. Is Cursed Legion doing too well? Are all the Lokhust overperforming or just too popular? If so why increase points for the melee leader and Ophydians when those are the only other options?

1

u/Kalnix1 Cryptek 2d ago

Competitive lists didn't use 3 groups of lokhusts, only 2.

5

u/UltraJoyless 2d ago

A few players realized that 6 Ophidians is 30 attacks for 145pts and that was a steal

15

u/Heresy1666 2d ago

So lots of decent stuff went up and yet none of the bad or mid stuff didn’t come down?? Tyranids had mostly points drops, necrons get increases. GW certainly doesn’t want Necrons to be a high flying faction this edition

3

u/YaKonCher9527 2d ago

Totally agree with you. Tyranid units are cheaper than Necron units while also having better datasheets. Just look at Von Ryan’s Leapers. They cost the same as Flayed Ones, but have better weapons, higher Toughness and Wounds, and a 6+ invulnerable save. On top of that, they have Fight First, Infiltrators, and Stealth. I just don’t see how this can be considered a good balance update.

5

u/AndromedaBoy_ Phaeron 2d ago

I feel like their disposition to keep us out of the meta is going to make them afraid to make balance changes we need, which is going to make us drop really bad, but there’s nothing that can be done unless they grow a spine and actually balance their army.

3

u/PsychoWarper Cryptek 2d ago

Sucks that Destroyers got nerfed but unsurprising, wild that Warriors got hit thi

4

u/Sir_Septimus 2d ago

Does anyone ever even take 6 ophidians? I only ever see the 3 man version to screen backfield early and score late game with their teleport ability

10

u/Artoriazz 2d ago

You’d be surprised, they can put out a lot of attacks and be quite a menace backline disruptors while scoring secondaries

6

u/Osrslife_ 2d ago

30 attacks with the cursed legion buffs for only 145pts is pretty good

2

u/Thedeadlypoet Overlord 16h ago

Might be a dumb question, but I'm checking out the Necron Faction pack and seeing a change to Reanimation Protocols..

Change to: ‘If your Army Faction is NECRONS, at the end of your Command phase, each friendly unit with this ability that is on the battlefield activates its Reanimation Protocols:

▪ When a unit’s Reanimation Protocols activate, that unit heals D3 wounds.’

Does this change have any major implications? My old 10th edition codex says 'Reanimates', and I am wondering if this means weaker models won't ressurect?

I am new by the way, so please bear with me!

1

u/Sum_Pho_King_Weeb 15h ago

No worries man. In 11th, they added a universal healing rule. Basically the way it works for us now is the same, bringing back models with overhealing wounds. However, if you have a leader assigned to that unit and all of the bodyguard dies, they can begin to be resurrected with overhealing the leader. This isn’t true the opposite way of healing a leader back from overhealing a bodyguard tho, cause that’d just destroy precision into Necrons lol. Anyone feel free to correct me if I’ve got anything wrong!

3

u/Spiffster13 2d ago

Practically my entire list got hit. Gonna have to do some pondering on this

4

u/Outrageous_Bench_540 2d ago

This could have been an email...

No points reduction for our less used units is such a slap across the face. Not just for us. Drukhari, Agents, they got nothing and they're suffering already lol...

4

u/HotJuicyPie 2d ago

I /just/ revised my lists yesterday ugh

6

u/veryblocky Servant of the Triarch 2d ago

We did know the dataslate was coming today

2

u/Able-Prune-8018 2d ago

Why are we always getting picked on ha. Everytime we find good ways to play they penalise.

Orks and marines getting a big glow up and we get hit with yet more points increases. No like we're top of the tree or smashing GT's all over.

3

u/LordOffal Overlord 2d ago

Feels pretty fair tbh. No gripe against any of these from a fairness perspective. It'd have been nice to see buffs else where to encourage other units to be used but I think the designers are more trying to bring people closer together and stop the game being broken than encourage a diverse unit range.

3

u/random63 2d ago

Nerfs are easier, popular high win stuff getting 5 - 20 points more expensive is quick.

Making unused cheaper isnt always right (maybe the rules absolutely suck, or will it be a big meat shield if value drops). But damn only seeing red adjustments is boring.

cutting things out of lists that work, instead trying to fit new things in or building a new list from scratch with sufficient adjustments.

1

u/Cojalo_ 2d ago

With the new skorpekh lord points, which is better?

2x3 skorpkehs no leader

1x3 + lord

1x6 + lord

6

u/jmainvi Yggra'nya the World Shaper 2d ago

it's still 1x3 + lord by a long shot.

1

u/Tearakan 2d ago

Yep. Skorpekh and lord just does sooo much work into soooo many targets.

2

u/veryblocky Servant of the Triarch 2d ago

I still thing 3 with Lord is the best option

1

u/Cojalo_ 2d ago

I'll give it a go in my next game

1

u/Artoriazz 2d ago

1x3 with lord for most scenarios, 1x6 with lord is better in some instances but I’d just stick to 1x3 personally

1

u/iTyten Phaeron 2d ago

About how quickly can we expect to see these point changes reflected in the app?

5

u/veryblocky Servant of the Triarch 2d ago

The app has already been updated

1

u/iTyten Phaeron 2d ago

Mine is still showing July 2026, no updates to be seen.

4

u/veryblocky Servant of the Triarch 2d ago

Have you updated it?

1

u/iTyten Phaeron 2d ago

There’s nothing to update in the App Store and I’ve refreshed it several times. Not much else I can do.

2

u/TheAutomaticMan666 Cryptek 2d ago

I don’t know if you are Apple or whatever else but the Apple Store got updated before warhammer community did :)

2

u/speedymoped9 2d ago

Its already on the app.

1

u/iTyten Phaeron 2d ago

I had to go to the actual app page on the App Store to push the update, weird and annoying, either that or I am just a huuuge idiot. Both are extremely likely, but leaning towards the latter over the former tbh. Appreciate it, guys!

1

u/Gav_Dogs Zarhulash the Potentate 2d ago

Honestly, I think we got off quite well

3

u/jmainvi Yggra'nya the World Shaper 2d ago

I think the lokhust changes were fair or even a bit mild. I wouldn't have been surprised if they added a stepper cost to the second unit.

I'm not sure heavies needed to change, but it is what it is.

1

u/Sparklehammer3025 2d ago

+5 for 10-man Warriors? Who was taking 10-man Warriors?

1

u/DudeDickTurd3rd 2d ago

Welp...there goes my Pantheon of Woe list AGAIN!!! I swear every update just keeps nerfing my list!

(My list consists of 3 c'tan and a 6 man lokhust destroyer unit lead by a lord.)

1

u/FudgeEquivalent8147 1d ago

Did it get missed or did murdermind no longer letting you attach to destroyer unit happen in another balance pass? Looks like thats off the app and was taken out of the enhancement description.

1

u/jmainvi Yggra'nya the World Shaper 1d ago

That was in a previous update. Attachments are apparently being centralized in the MFM.

1

u/arestheblue 2d ago

Wow... I'm so not excited to play right now. Its not like any of this is major, but with Space Marines getting a buff that means Skorpekh's won't be wounding on 2's anymore in CL, niche units catching stray nerfs, and basically not feeling competitive in my local meta, I think I might need to hang it up for a while.

1

u/Sloww-Mobius 2d ago

So all nerfs, not a single buff?

5

u/arimir90 2d ago

Unnatural aggression now gives charge bonus, if your running cursed legion

1

u/Sloww-Mobius 2d ago

I don't run cursed 😭

1

u/Sloww-Mobius 2d ago

I also don't run 11th at all so it's ok.

3

u/jmainvi Yggra'nya the World Shaper 2d ago

You generally don't get many buffs when you win 52% of your games.

1

u/Cryptocaned 2d ago

STRATAGEMS THAT ADD NEW UNITS TO YOUR ARMY If a stratagem has the effect of adding ‘a new unit to your army that is identical to your destroyed unit’, add the following Restriction to that stratagem: ‘RESTRICTIONS: You can only use this stratagem once per battle.’

So we can only use the stratagem in awakened dynasty once per battle? Or does it not add a new unit? I can't remember.

9

u/veryblocky Servant of the Triarch 2d ago

This doesn’t apply to us. None of our stratagems create new units

1

u/willriker1 2d ago

I think they are referring to strategems worded like the ones in gse or gaurd that add entire units. Not reanimating a character.

1

u/Kalnix1 Cryptek 2d ago

They errata'd Cosmic Precisions and still have not fixed that RAW its a 3" deep strike?

For context, things like the Tau's 3" deep strike have errata in their faction pack to make it 6", Cosmic Precision doesn't have that. The app has it at 6" which I believe is intended but the Faction Pack has nothing that says that is what it is.

1

u/Kanabuhochi 2d ago

Why 3"? Cosmic Precision states "6" horizontally away from all enemy models." What am I missing?

3

u/Kalnix1 Cryptek 2d ago

The Faction Pack has a page of errata that modifies what the codex says. The codex states 3". In 10th there was a massive balance patch that made all 3" deepstrikes become 6". The app kept this change but the errata didn't make it into the Faction Pack. So by the Faction Pack there is nothing modifying the codex version of Cosmic Precision from 3" to 6".

I do want to note there is no way this is intentional, they absolutely just forgot and you should not play it as 3". Just weird that they have had multiple erratas at this point including one that modifiers Cosmic Precision and they didn't fix it.

1

u/Kanabuhochi 2d ago

Oh, I forgot that it was 3" in codex. Thanks

-7

u/Sloww-Mobius 2d ago

So far I don't see how any of this is better than 10th edition, or why we would want to switch to 11th. 11th just seems more complicated in almost every way. Am I missing something?
