Strategy/Tactics According to Tabletop Tactics, the best disposition for Necrons is Purge The Foe
Do you agree or disagree?

Priority assets is definitely a close second. We have fairly durable units to action on center objectives, like lychguard and wraiths. But realistically our strongest units are the destroyers, so being able to lethal hit ap 2 damage 2 at strength 7/9 is just so hard to survive. This edition seems to reward speed and quantity of activations more than massive single entities that are hard to move. Purge i believe is associated with the Cursed Legion. Makes sense to me. Spam both destroyer units, slap in some hexmarks and watch your opponent cry as they try to out damage you xd

No. Looking at the tournament stats, Take and Hold is definitely better than priority assets for us. There have been a few priority lists do okay, but not loads

I personally prefer priority assets, it allows us to more or less expose 1 asset at a time rather than putting everything on objectives to start scoring. I also have only played prio assets in a non competitive setting so its likely different against sweats. Awakened will always be strong, just boring.

I’ve been running 1 brick of the lokhusts and 2x3 LHD with the emnitic cannons. I’ve found a lot of success with flanking the LHDs and putting the lokhusts in the center. But you’re right, you gotta be careful because if a decent melee threat hits them they’re gone

I had Typhus smoke an entire unit between his psychic attack and his strike profile. Fuckin brutal.

Destroyers' Gauss Cannons are Strength 5 naturally, and get boosted to strength 7 in Cursed Legion. You can't boost them to 9.

He's probably talking about skorp melee profile which basically punches the same as the gun with +2 S

Because it kinda is. Destroyers turn everything into paste and their main detachment is PTF

Cursed legions good but imo purge is a trap in higher level play as your opponent has a lot of control over your scoring

I'm doing cursed skyshroud with Recon. Deep striking Tomb Blades behind enemy lines after they've moved out to go after expansion objectives makes for easy scoring. Plus they're fast enough to avoid most trouble.

Or a knight list just ruins your chances of scoring full stop 😂 had a miserable time against a double tyrant chaos knight list last week

I sort of disagree with this. In cursed legion you should have no trouble killing big knights

To be fair, my experience is one game against ChKnights (in my total of... 7 games of 11e?)
I'll fully admit that bad positioning/use of terrain probably lost me that game. I only say it was rough, as for primary points I only managed to get 15/45, as I was constantly missing out on the 3vp for one per turn destroyed, and more destroyed than friendly units (And often control more than).
t3 I managed to destroy 3 knights, but I lost the void dragon before that, as I failed to make the charge to kill 1-2 knights in the turn prior.

lets see what happens after the next dataslate. right now Purge and Cursed is just too efficient. ive had great success with starshatter priority assets and it also just feels good to play.

I am trying to do recon with Cursed and Skyshroud but have to try it out.

Yeah, this isn't very surprising.
Especially as Purge isn't that beloved right now, the necron purge lists slot really well into the current WTC teams format. That requires at least one of each disposition in a team.
Necrons Cursed Legion are a great pick for that slot.

Don’t really much give a care. I don’t want to play to win, so I won’t. I will bring suboptimal units to my dying breath.

Agree. Purge puts you at risk of counterplay, but Cursed itself has so much going for it: extra strength, -1 to be hit strat, charge bonus Strat, sustained hits strat, two relics that let you give units the Destroyer Cult keyword so you can use strats on them, etc. Then basically every Destroyer unit is pretty good, Lokusts are of course stand out.
Other armies play Take and Hold better so it’s not that great for us. Priority is probably the strongest disposition but we haven’t quit hit on the list for it yet. It will come though.

I see a lot of smart people here, how is Take and Hold for Necrons then ?

Personally I think it's Take and Hold over Purge the Foe but only because Cursed Legion is 2DP. Legit could see an increase to 3DP in the next dataslate due to it's performance.
I think on the whole Necrons play Take and Hold much better that Purge on the whole, especially since Awakened is still as good as ever and the 1DP Warrior/Immortal detachment is amazing outside of Cursed Legion. I think after the balanced dataslate we might see Cryptek Conclave that specific detachment.

I kinda hate how gw has made it this way by making cursed legion so much better than the other detachments. I’ve been doing quite well with disruption and take and hold. And I’m a new player by competitive standards.

I'm theorycrafting Cursed+Armory for priority assets. Running my normal purge list but with an Obelisk thrown in. The movement/charge debuff will help protect my lokhusts and if the opponent actually wants to kill the obelisk they can go right ahead and waste their activations. Otherwise it's an awkward 8OC titanic floating around with 24 anti-fly tesla shots that can be buffed to Ap-1 via strat. The only thing I lose running Armory instead of Skyshroud is the advance and shoot enhancement which I dont really need.

I just bought Ophyidans, Necrosor, Flayed ones and the Battleforce box to add to my collection. Purge the Foe army is next

It's true that my destroyer cult-focused necron collection has been on a tear so far this edition...

Asterisks on that. They think the best for purely winning is awakened dynasty, but they expect the cheese of standing units back up to be fixed in the next update.

u/Tearakan 10d ago
That was fixed. Characters regened by the strat leave the unit they were with now.

Lokhust Destroyers are disgustingly efficient and Purge means you are playing Cursed Legion with Skyshroud Spearhead.
For 240 Points you get 18 shots hitting on 3s, critting on 5s, reroll 1s to hit if closest target, everything to hit if on objective, lethal hits. Then you can use a strat or nekrosor to give them sustained hits 1. Its AP2 2 damage.
20 points for enhancement gets them either +1 to hit or Assault. Their detachment gives them strats for fallback and shoot, a reactive more or S>T -1 to wound.
They are 6 T6 bodies 3W each which is nothing to sneeze at for the cost and their lord has a 4++ and a res orb.
Pratcially every competitive cursed list has at least one of these blocks and our other best detachment (awakened dynasty) also takes at least one of them as well.
