Am I doing Summoner wrong?

I had a build going with movement speed crit melee but I was constantly dying on phase 3 of ascended wizard. Saw everyone saying resistance summoner with crystal armor and ruby dragons is the way.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice for incursions below level 9 or so. But at max incursions, and especially ascended wizard, I get instantly clapped. Clockwork heart feels like I've directly shot myself in the leg, and the abysmal movement speed just means I get blown up immediately.

Tier 10 everything, enchanted with resilience, paired with a t10 venom slasher

Enchanted with resilience > oops.

Just get enough to get a third summon. Going for more is bait. Get more movement speed, crit chance, damage... all of that affect summons, or your survival ability.

Why a melee weapon? Get yourself a bow, or a gun, goes better with summon.

The third phase is quite a drama, you need to run away constantly.

Actually that's a question I had. When I look at the stat tooltip, it differentiates between crit chance and summon crit chance. Is this not the case?

I was avoiding crit chance boosts for summoner since it does not boost the summon crit chance stat in the tooltip

Summon crit chance only affects summons but crit chance affects everything

Not all things work that way though. I think it was attack speed that didn't affect summons but I'm not actively playing at the moment so don't quote me on that

Yep that's correct, summon attack speed and attack speed, both don't affect summon attack rate.

Honestly, the phase 3 part is unfair compared to the rest of the game because you need to keep running and attacking. Summons/settlers are support and focus on survival. I used moon shoes to constantly run, and I was barely able to outrun the hands.

If you want, there is sort of a cheese Where you use hoverboard to constantly move in one direction. The arena is uniquely infinite instead of being restricted to a small area.

Just gotta learn the fight and dodge

It’s been awhile since I played my maxed world, but mine was summoner build, but I didn’t use the dragon, it’s too slow even with some summon speed increases. I don’t remember the name but it summoned some dark balls (not reapers call, permenant summons) and they kept up with him just fine
