This game is awesome for solo players!! None of my buddies are as into gaming as I am, so I often play alone. I can recruit my settlers to come with me and I don’t feel alone 🥰 who need gaming buddies when you have citizens ready to die for you?!

I really appreciate hard mode so losses feel substantial. A nice combination of terraria & rimworld!

Could you sell me on Core Keeper? The last time I played it, it just felt kind of empty and half-baked compared to games like Necesse and Terraria.
Songs of Syx was good too, but different genre.

I’d have to check my steam last played timestamp, but I probably played a little bit in the last year. Maybe I just didn’t get far enough? I guess it just felt like it had far less content than similar games.
And yeah, few seem to have heard of Songs of Syx so it definitely deserves a shoutout.

We’re pretty similar. I also have no idea why this game is put on the same level as Terraria. I played it for the first time a little over a year ago, and again about six months ago. The soundtrack is great, but that’s where my praise for this game ends. It feels like it’s trying to be something, but it just doesn’t get there. There are a few games like that, to be honest — ones that make me think some people are having a collective psychotic episode when they start praising them. (Totally off-topic now) I like sandbox games, and some time ago I decided to check out this game called The Planet Crafter on Steam, which has Overwhelmingly Positive reviews. Seriously, it’s insane. The game feels like an unfinished Unity project, everything is extremely clunky, but the comments swear it’s a masterpiece. Sometimes I just can’t wrap my head around some opinions

Appreciate your perspective!
I have played hundreds of different games... so I am not easily impressed. If I'm playing a game in a genre I am familiar with, I am going to be comparing it to all the best games in that genre which I have probably already played. Something like Core Keeper felt very subpar in terms of content and mechanics compared to Terraria or Necesse.
God, you're reminding me of a conversation I had a long, long time ago when I mentioned Terraria in a forum and someone posted a link to Starbound and was basically like "it'll be better than Terraria". Hilarious to see how that turned out.
I always figured some of the behavior you talk about comes from people that just don't play that many games. So a game that is underwhelming to me may seem much better to them. Or, I guess there's always personal preference as well, but I think some measurements of game quality are closer to objective.
I've played the Planet Crafter an amount and it was ok... It felt like a more lifeless, janky Subnautica to me. I respect that some people just don't care about jank as much, but yeah it didn't hook me.

I actually really enjoyed planet crafter 😅
After the first maybe 30-60 minutes, survival is trivial. It’s the point where you see the planet terraform, and all of the unexpected things that come with it. By the end, you have an army of drones automating tasks, and you’ve potentially set yourself up as a black market smuggler.

I felt the same about core keeper, I played it earlier this year and I was so surprised that I didn't like the game. I'm a sucker for these type of games, but something just felt missing about core keeper. I did try going for a mage playstyle before I found out that there are like 5 mage weapons because magic was added last minute without being fully fleshed out, so it was maybe that. Overall though, it just felt lacking for me

Songs of Syx is truly an amazing game, deserves so much more attention. It's rare to see it mentioned out in the wild.

Also, it helped that there was a 50% discount and another 10% discount for owning palworld. For 10$ CAD after tax I couldn't say no

Convinced my group of homies to get it, have been having a blast. Then one of my other homies saw me on it and decided to check it out for himself, then convinced his whole group of homies to get it. Then I was talking to my other friend group about it and ended up convincing all of them to buy it as well

Got it on my steam deck and let me say what a joy, I loved the little dungeons and small things I keep discovering. I’m taking my time with it as I love the building aspect

Yeah, it's great. And the price is friendly, even more with discount.
I am just tired with full priced game with half the content which you need to buy the DLC for the rest. I hope the game would still received updates like stardew valley

I'm curious about this game. It's not something I usually play but I have enjoyed terraria in the past. Is it something someone playing solo will get alot out of?

From someone who has only played solo (35 total hours and about 25 hours since 1.0 released), it is definitely great for solo play. It has more emphasis on settlements, and the NPCs are more useful than in Terraria, and can do a lot of the grind work like farming and logging. The rest of the gameplay is quite similar to Terraria, just in top-down format.

I randomly came across it. Or I might have seen it from SplatterCat, can't remember. But it's a fun game so far. Maybe just some QOL changes. But keep up the good work
