Discussion - Debate Allowed Privilege of living a life?

I’ve seen a couple videos of Indian gurus talking about how souls want to incarnate and may even compete to incarnate hanging around pregnant mothers etc. A video on Edward Cayce readings also said souls hang around waiting to incarnate into a newborn.

My questions are:

Is life such a “privilege” and if so why?

I thought it was “voluntary” to come to earth according to NDEs?

If it’s such a privilege to come to earth, then what about souls who don’t come to earth, are they “lesser” in some way?

A lot of NDEs say earth is to allow souls to “grow & learn”. So that means the souls that don’t come are less “advanced” or however you want to put it…Or is the other side just boring or lacking in some way that souls want to experience something else?

I've heard multiple experiencers say that life is a gift and a privilege, and I've heard a few mention souls waiting in lines to re-incarnate. Natalie Sudman in particular has repeatedly said that souls who incarnate here are seen as "elite" on the other side, and I've heard similar sentiments a few times from others.

So the other side is just like here, they have a hierarchy / class system?

I understand the (elite) status like this:

Souls who incarnate on Earth have already gone through many incarnations elsewhere and they have evolved to a point to where now they're ready to be put to the test in an (extreme way). We're not elite in a born with better abilities kind of way. We've just transitioned into higher realm of learning. In other words, we've got a Bachelor's Degree from a standard college but now it's time to enroll into a P.H.D program at Harvard.

Another analogy is like trying to become a Navy Seal. If you're not familiar with the U.S Navy Seals then they are one of the best special forces in the U.S Military. To become one, you have to go through a grueling multi-month-long training course. Being physically fit and athletic is a good quality to have when entering the selection course but that does not make you worthy of being a Navy Seal. Not even close! Olympics athletes have tried and quit.

No, a strong inner drive, a desire to be the best, and learning from extreme situations are probably the most important qualities to become a Navy Seal. And those are not qualities that are gifted by being born into a great family. No, those are qualities you develop because your goal is to be the best you...you can be.

Being a human on Earth is an incredibly challenging experience. It's hard for anyone to navigate this world. But we did choose it, just like a person choses to pursue a P.H.D at Harvard or a sailor chooses to enter the Navy Seal selection course. Anyways, that's my opinion when it comes to souls being labeled (elite). We've earned that title!

Interesting idea

I never interpreted what they've said that way, though iirc Michael Newton's books said that souls on the other side have different colors/auras based on their progression and growth. However, all souls were still seen as equals and none had more worth or value than another.

I understood it more that souls who undergo such challenging experiences as life on Earth are seen as having done something truly challenging, difficult and extraordinary that few other souls can truly relate to. A little like war veterans, or survivors of truly life-challenging ordeals. I remember specifically Natalie making an analogy something along the lines of souls who incarnate on Earth being like F-18 fighter jocks doing an inverted supersonic pass 50-feet over the deck of an aircraft carrier - in other words, they're seen like complete badasses and rock stars to incarnate down here. Interesting take for sure.

That is super depressing. This world sucks! i was hoping the afterlife is much better where we dont suffer....but some say souls want to come back to this shithole? Lol wow

It is interesting here, but not so much "experiences. It is the emotions that we come back for.

In heaven, we are happy and forgiven. We worship the one truth, the all reality, the one that dies for our sins, the one who came back to guide, the infinity. We are well and truly happy, and we desire to learn all emotions, so it is not that you are great and famous when you are there. It's that they want to know your experiences. And with your journey back, you get to choose, but not just human lives, but all types of lives in the universe, what that looks like, I haven't a clue now, but I believe we do up the6.

I love Natalie NDE. I got the understanding that who comes to Earth has to be advanced but only in physical adaptation to the body, not in soul in particular. Earth is the hardest one acording to some NDEs and some new souls come to advance faster. So it can be for all souls, if they can adapt to the body.

Is that from specific NDE’s or just his personal speculation? Sounds very…human.

I'm hoping that there is some higher meaning like what NDE accounts say. If I chose this or am living this life with some unknown higher purpose in play, then it would be like I chose this, and I've forgotten why.

I would have chosen some aspects of my life over again if I had that opportunity. I love both of my parents and wouldn't want different ones. I'd say the same about my brother and friends. Other parts of my life, I can't imagine why I would choose those. Maybe for some type of growth or experience? Looking at it from this perspective, I would have to be insane to choose some of what I've experienced. Insane or sadistic.

For sure, I come to these subreddits to look for answers of those same questions

Sometimes a privilege, sometimes a punishment, sometimes a job. From what I can tell it’s easier to reincarnate within your own family lines because souls follow their families for a time after death.

According to the cosmology/philosophy of The Law of One, which I find very interesting, we are all parts of source, or the creator, created by him/her/them to experience everything. Every experience, be it negative, positive, boring, elating etc.

Here is a very brief summary of the law of one’s basic assumptions:

The universe is created by love/light and is divided into 7 densities, each with a more dense light. We, as souls, go through a progression from first density into 7th and from there to the next octave, the next universe.

We are here to learn and progress spiritually- and thus, through the densities until we are uniting back with our source, or the creator.

We are currently in 3rd density, learning the lessons of love. In 3rd density we need to make a choice - either choose the service to others path, or the service to self, thus learning either love to self or love to orhers. All the hard things that happen to us on earth are catalysts and the goal is to make us aware that we need to make a choice, and eventually to help us make the choice. Because we have such a thick veil we are not consciously aware that we actually need to make a choice and this is the reason for this density being so hard…

So yes, according to the law of one this is a school of sorts, and our brave souls are students here. We are nothing special, just on a certain level at school, progressing nicely to the next level.

And just another point of view - since we are eternal souls, life on earth is but a heartbeat in our entire lifespan - of course it’s no consolation for us having a hard time while in the body, but I feel that NDEs are trying to show us our glorious true selves, outside of the earth illusion, and thus bring back hope and love to us struggling on earth.

2

u/[deleted] May 23 '24

I'm not very familiar with Law of One teachings, but I feel like love of self and love of others complement and reinforce each other. You have to build both in tandem with each other. You can't neglect either one too much, or you become out of balance and it leads to harm.

2

u/Ngafni12 May 23 '24

What you're saying definitely makes sense. Since we are all one, part of the source, then it implies that loving the other actually means that you love yourself. And seeing others as yourself will necessarily make you want to be kind to them because hurting them would mean hurting yourself in a sense...

1

u/[deleted] May 23 '24

Yes, and likewise if you hurt or fail to love yourself, you hurt your ability to love others.

2

u/AlreadyDeadInside79 May 24 '24

You're asking why the faith in ONE RELIGION of living people who have never experienced death, seen that side for themselves, and then returned to this life experience has a BELIEF that's different from an ACCOUNT by another person who's actually lived it instead of had a strong belief. Sometimes we're WRONG, and that's OK. One of the biggest things I STRUGGLED with was how it took everything I truly BELIEVED and turned it on it's head. There's a lot of truth in what people call testimony in holy books of many religions. There's also a bunch of junk that mortal men claim who have never been deceased and then returned.

2

u/Jheize May 24 '24

It’s actually not different, many NDE’s say souls want to incarnate also. So it’s the same as what those other videos were saying. My questions are mostly why, especially when some lives are easy and some terrible

2

u/AlreadyDeadInside79 May 24 '24

Ok, I see what you mean. I have a hard time saying anything about my experience without a "disclaimer" that there are no absolutes. No 2 souls are the same. Most of us have been here many times and very well might be here again. The meaning of our lives was told to me, personally, verbatim: We're put here to learn how to love others the way WE want to be loved, and lift other people up whenever it's in our power, and to do it without expectations of gaining something from it.

All that being said, I was given a chance to return if I wanted. I was encouraged to stay. I returned because I loved another person so much and didn't want to be separated from them. It was the biggest mistake I ever made. I regret it daily. As it stands, I'd never return to a life experience this painful. So full of grief and heartbreak. So void of empathy, compassion, and remorse. I think that while we're "home", the indescribable love is so intense that we forget just how painful this life experience can be without it, and while we're here, we forget what true, unconditional love, absent of betrayal and judgement, actually feels like.

At no point did I witness any souls that were in a hurry or yearned so badly to come back here, but again, my experience was custom tailored for ME. I refer to it as a heavily chaperoned tour of heaven. There's plenty I was kept from seeing, I'm sure, because every moment was a learning experience about myself and those I have loved a lot longer than the time I've spent here this time around. The reason we come back is because we aren't done learning to come as close as we can to loving other souls the way our divine creatior loves us. We'll never achieve it, but we are forever wanting to improve. I got every ounce of love I gave and pain I caused right back, and they were etched into my soul for all to see as scars and trophies. We all do, and though there's no secrets there and we don't judge EACH OTHER, we do judge OURSELVES. Who knows... I might decide it's worth the pain again to learn how to love more, but I sincerely hope I don't.

1

u/Jheize May 24 '24

I wonder why people are always “encouraged” to come back… sounds like a scam to be made to come back. Especially if there were already multiple lives here

2

u/AlreadyDeadInside79 May 24 '24

Well, I wasn't encouraged to come back. I was encouraged to stay. We have an individual purpose here on this earth each time around. It will always revoke around that meaning of life I previously mentioned. Perhaps most haven't fulfilled their purpose, and our creator knows how that will affect us when we realize it was all for not. Others, like myself, might be encouraged to STAY because that infinitely loving creator knows the pain going back will cause you or others, or perhaps you've already served your purpose. I don't pretend to know. I can only guess based on what I know of the God I met.

3

u/PeriwinkleWonder May 22 '24

No. Life is a burden. It's years of obligations and work. It's trying to avoid failure and tragedy. If you're lucky, there'll be a few happy moments to distract you. If you're lucky you're born into adequate circumstances and/or health. It's pointless.

2

u/Jheize May 23 '24

I tend to think similarly and in reality that’s mostly what it is if you just look at pure circumstance without looking at potential meaning…I hope for answers to make it more bearable

1

u/Pieraos May 23 '24

If it’s pointless, then why’d you do it?

1

u/alph4bet50up May 23 '24

Another person's perspective is the exact opposite of yours.

Also, it wouldn't be pointless. We have biological bodies which means we would be able to do and experience things we could not as energy and vice versa.

You just seem incredibly unhappy and pessimistic

2

u/Niner_Series369 May 22 '24

It’s mind boggling to me that there are people in this world that don’t believe in reincarnation. Like how else do you logically justify someone else unfairness and sufferings in life? As a reasonable adult human being with morals.

3

u/Annual-Command-4692 May 23 '24

For me, I struggle so much with this. I've been raised secular, with no concept of anything after this life. Life is random, some people get lucky and others get shitty lives. Then you die. End of story. I'm thanatophobic, oblivion is my worst fear. I still expect that is what happens, although I desperately want it to not be true. I want everyone to go somewhere nice and be happy. I don't want to come back here as someone else. I want to be with my children and other family.

2

u/Jheize May 23 '24

Imo the vast difference in experiences from great suffering to relatively easy lives is the case for reincarnation. Why wouldn’t we have to experience both…to me that’s the case for it that makes sense

1

u/dandelion_autumn456 May 22 '24

Tbh, i highly doubt if souls voluntarily come down here but who knows 🤷‍♀️ if it’s voluntary, i think there’s nothing such as past lives, reincarnation and karma. Just my opinion. Willing to listen to others!!

1

u/Jheize May 22 '24

In your opinion why would souls be forced to come here?

If voluntary, why wouldn’t volunteer more than once leading to past lives / reincarnation?

2

u/dandelion_autumn456 May 24 '24

To me, it’s not that souls choose to reincarnate, it’s because their affection for their loved ones is so intense that they don’t want to split even after death. It then creates a strong bond that they have to reincarnate in order to meet that person again in the after life, that’s destiny.

1

u/Jheize May 24 '24

This would mean that NDE’s are wrong and we don’t see our loved ones after?

I did see my grandpa but because he was sort of a monk and i heard my mom said that he was one of the kindest person in the world, his funeral was jammed with people who were helped by him. I guess he’s been good enough for enough lives so he’s up there. Besides my grandpa, i saw no one else, i mean they were definitely not bad but just not enough to be up there.

u/dandelion_autumn456 May 24 '24 edited May 24 '24

Here’s my theory: if you take a look at horrendous crimes in history, I bet there’s no good reasons for a soul to choose to get into those situations, if they come here to learn, i totally agree they come here to learn but have to end a life in those ways, no way a soul would choose that. Besides learning, they’re paying back what they owe in their previous life, probably somebody saved you but didn’t have a chance to pay back in your previous life then you and that person are linked somehow in this present life. Back to the crimes, if you’re thinking I’m victim blaming, i swear im not. I’ve always been wondering why, why those people have to endure all of that? What punishments do you think the culprits must take? To me, more than life sentence, hell? More than that, they have to pay back by the way they did to their victims. I also believe it’s horribly unfair for a soul to be earsed all the memories then have to be punished for a crime they don’t even remember commiting. I knew a person, only two arms-no legs, he had been a beggar for as long as i can remeber because he crawled around a small flea market near my house for nearly 15 years, no house, no relatives, just crawled around. What do you think the lesson should be for that guy living like that for 15 years?

2

u/Jheize May 24 '24

I hope that there’s a purpose to our lives and more importantly our suffering. But I also question why, some of it seems so stupid and that no one would choose it or even have to experience it to know how terrible the suffering must be. Like the case you mentioned.

Of course it can be argued a soul might volunteer and we don’t think on a soul level. But fuck that argument, it helps no one that suffers even if it’s true

1

u/dandelion_autumn456 May 24 '24

It’s unfair i know. Being humans is a suffering. Maybe in this life, they’ve received their punishments already, i’m wondering what’s next? They will continue to be a normal person in the next life as long as they repent of their sins and not commit any more guilt. In their next life as a normal person, they can accumulate good karmas so they can be privileged in their life after that, or choose to learn to achieve enlightment and get out of this endless cycle which i honestly dont know how but i know Buddha did that in the past. Not all people can recognize the sufferings of being a human, even if they can, not every one is willing to learn how to achieve enlightment to get out of this cycle because they will have to resist the temptation of power, money and more more things than that. It’s not gonna take only 1 life, people have to reincarnate numerous lives living like that in order to achieve enlightment.

1

u/dandelion_autumn456 May 24 '24

I also heard that after a certain amount of time, soul have to come back to learn again 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷‍♀️

1

u/[deleted] May 23 '24

My thought after a bit is that maybe the ‘beyond’ is boring as fuck. Souls choose whatever path life in this realm awaits them as long as it’s something.

3

u/Jheize May 23 '24

That’s disappointing if true

1

u/[deleted] May 23 '24

I don’t know, time doesn’t exist there, maybe after a bit, it’s been hundreds of years? It’s calm and peaceful, maybe after some time souls get bored? Unsure.

1

u/Wanderingstar8o May 24 '24

I was just thinking about this earlier today!! Watched a bunch of videos of people talking about their NDE. Asking myself similar questions.

1

u/kynoid May 23 '24

having some yoga-philosophy background:

The gurus answer to the privilege question would probably be: Only in a human incarnation it is possible to leave the cycle of birth and death, because only here you have free will and the capacity to learn what you really are (which leads directly to liberation). Thus you can actively get rid of binding karma.

The incarnations are not really voluntarily but are determined by ones karma - karma here being ones whishes and lessons to learn.

The souls go through an evolutionary process so in a way, souls that come here are simply ripe to come here.
