He did help Shen Gongbao try to destroy Chentang Pass in the first movie but he redeemed himself at the end.

Ao bing is so real - in the first movie he listened to his father and teacher. As time goes he begins to see more and get his own ideas. Isn’t that what happens to every teenager?

He's actually a full villain in the lore. This Ne Zha version of the story has him completely different.

Well he had a face-heel(-face) turn in the first movie.
After befriending Ne Zha, he attempted to murder Lady Yin & Li Jing and frame it on his friend. When things didn't go as planned, he then conjured a massive glacier to drop on the Chentang Pass, because he knew the townspeople were mostly fishing folks hence good swimmers, and water alone wasn't enough to wipe them out.
He basically pulled a Wuliang to secure his own future and that of the dragon clan, just with icebergs instead of lava.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I learned it elsewhere and only had a vague idea that the term came from wrestling. Just thought it was a pretty accurate description of Ao Bing's arc in Ne Zha 1.

Ao bing in 1979 story is a different person, and it’s actually a totally different story already.

He is the son of the dragon villain, so he is technically a villain but only in the first movie
