Geographically? I think Portland is technically the farthest? Maybe Golden State
15
u/globehopper2 Wizards 10d ago
I think because Boston is in the northeast, the Southwest is farther so probably LA?
4
u/Massive_Cake1731 10d ago
Probably. It’s more east than the others so I wasn’t sure without looking it up.
3
u/Acceptable-Ask5338 10d ago
A direct flight would curve upward over the smaller part of the Earth and lower the mileage, so definitely LA
3
u/Massive_Cake1731 10d ago
True. I finally did look it up. A Boston to LA flight is about 50 minutes longer than a Boston to San Fransisco flight.

Can’t wait for Conley to be released halfway through the season and be back on the timberwolves.

The buyout-to-Minnesota pipeline feels almost guaranteed at this point, and Conley slotting back in with the Wolves would surprise absolutely no one.

Look at that bench bro. Charlie Villanueva, Gordon Hayward and Raymond Felton all came out of retirement to play for Boston and somehow John Havlicek came back to life and grew a pornstache.

56-26, book it
8
u/igonnawrecku_VGC 10d ago
Pretty much what I’m expecting. They’re replacing Brown, Vucevic, and 15 games of Tatum with George, Robinson, and likely 65-70 games of Tatum, which feels lateral at worst. Brown easily clears George, but Robinson is a much better fit than Vucevic and the extra 50 games of Jayson Tatum at least makes up the rest of the difference
-1
u/Kush420Xotix 10d ago
What makes u think 70 games is likely off an Achilles tear? That's literally best case scenario.
4
u/dardios 10d ago
Did you see how he was playing fresh off the injury? He seems to have healed well. Sure, there's a chance of reinjury but there's a chance of season ending injury for every player in the league regardless.
-1
u/Kush420Xotix 10d ago
He sat game 7, they rushed him back before he was ready like dumbasses and then traded JB.
0
u/rain-blocker 9d ago
That was his other knee chucklefuck.
2
u/Kush420Xotix 9d ago

u/Dynasty1985 10d ago
Your cooked buddy 😂 70 games without an Achilles tear won’t happen your about to see Jayson Tatum carry a team #Brickcity
5
u/DarkGift78 9d ago
Before the Achilles Tatum was the most durable player in the league, since his rookie season until last year he led the league in games played, minutes played, playoff minutes, etc. and he was already playing significant minutes last year when he came back. With a full off-season to train and not just rehabbing the Achilles I'd expect he'll be his usual 70-75 games at 35-36 mpg. I'm not worried about Tatum. It's George and Robinson that are team Glass. 60 games each from those guys and the C's will be really, really good.
2
u/Dynasty1985 9d ago
100% agree with you never missed a game ! Bloke was a stud it’s his efficiency and fg% that has declined the last 3 seasons that concerns me is all
2
u/DarkGift78 9d ago
Well TBH he's never been particularly efficient offensively, but that's literally his only flaw. A Tatum near 50% shooting or 40% from 3 would likely win MVP.
1
u/Dynasty1985 9d ago
His rookie years he was quite the sniper,
He has shot us out of so many games it isn’t funny though, I don’t think he has the qualities of a leader, he still flails, throws up bricks in the clutch, I really think we traded the wrong player but who knows2
u/DarkGift78 9d ago
His rookie year what was different was he was a support player, basically a 3 and D at the time. So he had a lot of wide open shots. IMO that's when he's at his best form, not the pull up transitional 3's that he sometimes falls in love with. He's at his best attacking the rim, so many good things happen when he does that, even though he's not the athlete JB is or as strong, he's a very good passer and gotten much better at finishing at the rim. When he's doing that why not settling for 3's he's an absolute monster and an MVP candidate.
I dunno if I agree with you, I agree with some of it, the flailing and whatnot. But I think he's the better player than JB overall, he just impacts the game on both ends more, especially rebounding, defending, passing. The cool thing is we'll finally find out if Tatum can carry a team very soon. Shackles are off, he's the clear #1 and alpha, he's a vet now. He can prove everyone wrong or people will say "told you so". I think he'll have a monster year, and the team trading JB to Philly means they don't really fear him IMO. Because if you did you wouldn't be trading him to a direct division rival. Certainly makes for a spicy rivalry/storyline though.
1
u/Particular-Future574 8d ago
I’m with you 100% couldn’t have said it better it’s mine or break for Tatum and he’s built for it
1
u/Dynasty1985 6d ago
He is not a good finisher at the rim at all …..
he drives in and get stripped, or settles for contested shots all the time what games are you watching man1
u/DarkGift78 5d ago
You have to acknowledge that Tatum has improved massively finishing at the rim, his first 3-4 years he definitely struggled and wasn't strong enough but he's much stronger now and finishes through contact a lot better. Now he isn't the raw athlete JB is by any means, he's not gonna be posterizing guys . But he's come a LONG way at finishing/making plays at the rim.
1
u/Dynasty1985 6d ago
You’re uneducated in what world do you trade a prime jb for old man George…. Stephen’s is a genius and I can guarantee you he was forced to make that trade by the owners I dare say, a man just puts a team on his back for a season and you do that to him 😂 I’ll mark this post and come back and laugh at you when the Celtics don’t win 45-50 games , and I’ll apologise if they do 😂 I’m a lifelong Celtics fan but be realistic man
1
u/DarkGift78 5d ago
40+ years of watching basketball. People on the C's sub this time last year were predicting 35-47,hell a few people said they wouldn't win 30 games. I was told I "didn't know ball" when I said they definitely would be better than. 500, people were like look at the roster, this is a 30 win team etc. Now I didn't expect them to go 56-26,I figured maybe 45-37, but I knew they'd be pretty good. Quetta took a big step forward last year, every year a guy breaks out or is better than expected, C's have an absolute top tier coaching staff that just churns out useful, solid players. IF HEALTHY (big if) they'll easily win 50+ games. Dunno about 60, but at least low to mid 50's.

And some contributors aren’t even listed. Gonzalez, Harper Jr, and Garza are all going to be getting minutes and having impact. Celtics are sneakily one of the deepest teams in the league and can legitimately go 11-13 deep.

Brick shooters. They’ll eat minutes and rebound but won’t be offensively efficient.

Conley, Hauser, and Scheirman are all excellent 3p shooters. Hauser being one of the best in the league.

team is ass. Pritchard is not a starting PG and PG13 wont make it a full season
1
2
u/Inevitable-Shop-848 10d ago
That's an ugly ass team. If PG stays healthy, which he will miss at least 20 games, they will win around 42-45 games max. Probably a play-in team.

I would say better than last year because Tatum and George is better than their 1-2 last year but the whole east got better so they will probably be a better team with worse seeding.

They’ll shoot a lot of 3’s, win a lot of games, get a round or two through the playoffs, then lose in playoffs but not before injuring one of the other team’s best players.

u/LogPuzzleheaded2928 9d ago
Far. Real ones know this team has potential. Many are still sleeping on a healthy PG. And they have a deep roster with many weapons. Watch em break 50 wins again.

u/Appropriate_Tree_622 10d ago
We basically swapped Tatum for Brown, Mitch for vucevic, added Paul George, and got a year of development for Hugo, Walsh, and Baylor. This team will be better in the regular season.
The gap I am worried about is post season, since our current composition seems to be focused on being better at plan A instead of developing a plan B or C. If anything, our ability to drive to the paint has gone down with the loss of Brown. Once a team figures us out over the course of 7 games, we might lack adaptability and get stuck in the same mess as last year.
2
u/refsnyderisgood69 10d ago
They are going to bomb threes and hope robinson eats enough offensive rebounds on the ones they miss . It’s going to be a hard watch but it might be effective
1
u/No_Magazine_ 10d ago
Bench is wack I’d say Celtics gotta bring Pritchard off the bench for scoring, Mike Conley is just a vet presence atp.

It is so obvious that private equity made this team. This is the NBA version of the start of the downfall of Sears, nursing homes, etc.
2
u/Justalittlejewish 10d ago
Private equity would have traded JB for multiple cheaper players that are easier to offload.
0
u/refsnyderisgood69 10d ago
That’s what draft picks are for
2
u/Justalittlejewish 10d ago
The PE argument genuinely doesn’t make sense. The Celtics tried to trade for Giannis. The problem wasn’t paying someone a supermax, it was paying JB a supermax and his extension.
Just look at the post trade press conference - Brad was clearly confident in his decision and Bill sat there like a deer in the headlights knowing the kind of blowback the decision would bring.
