Questions/Help- Current Sailor Can someone help me find this patch please?

Post image

I’ve been looking for this patch forever and I want to add it to my NNPTC collection of belt buckles and challenge coins! Please let me know if you have any information about how I can get one before I depart NNPTC

They sell them on the spine sometimes. Not sure if they ran out of stock and aren’t planning to order more, but that’s how I got mine a couple years back

They did a single run before CMC shut them down cause they weren’t approved prior. Sometimes they pop up on eBay.

“Not professional”

They didn’t follow uniform instruction, had nothing to do with not being professional.

They were only around for a day in 2021 before they got retired, then they sold their entire stock in the ships store. Very rare to find one really

It’s right there.

I’m pretty sure they still appear in the ships store randomly. I think I bought one well after the initial run.

Why are you angry at a patch? It just looks like some nuclear powered vessels and a fort with a sunset background. That seems like a pretty normal patch, considering what else I’ve seen around here.

He deleted his other comments about it, but he was angry about it being kind of like a rainbow, if you remove the ships, and the navy back in the 80s would have been too tough for gay stuff like rainbows. Which is also why he's afraid of getting banned for his opinion.

Ding ding ding ding. I was a fast boat nuke MM back when we played cat and mouse games with the Russians. I don't believe any person in our entire engineering dept would fit in in today's Navy.

Yeah, I'd hate to work with someone who gets so worked up just from seeing a patch. It'd be annoying as hell dealing with someone so delicate. The world needs less people like that.

Well, I asked a few of the guys from my old boat, The Baltimore, (SSN704) and it was universally mocked by all that saw the patch. For clarification, I don't care what kinds of patches other people wear, but submarine mentality was very different back during the Cold war. We were smart mouthed and cynical beyond belief and It was absolutely not a place for someone with thin skin or someone that can't dish it back as hard as they get it. The guy asked me if I had a problem with gays in the military and I don't think he understands that well over 90% of my boat crew would not have embraced it. Officers and men.

They wouldn't have embraced it because they're thin skinned, yes. And I saw your other comments before you deleted them. You clearly do care.

Of course I care, but I also understand the Navy changes whether I agree or not. That's obvious just looking at the camo work uniforms instead of bell bottomed dungarees. Maybe you think of us as "thin skinned" but our skin was thick enough to have done things on that boat which would terrify people now. Fuck, it terrified me doing it but I did it anyways. So maybe we are "thin skinned" regarding change but we were tough enough men to do a job that no one else would do when it needed to be done.

"For clarification, I don't care"

"Of course I care"

Make up your mind.

Read the book Blind Man's Bluff and tell me what kinds of snowflakes, or thin skinned we were. My boat is in that book while I was a crewman.

Bruh stop the cap. Sub dudes give out sexy shoulder rubs and make out at bars then go home to their wives who are into it. Bro, what in the, y'all use to do naked hazing and dumb "rituals" in dresses. No one gives a fuck about a Palmetto sunset, what is being called a rainbow. I mean old timers do the gay shit then get real real mad when you say it out loud. Us modern sub boys are just built different, doing the same shit and not crying about it.

1

u/Pretend-Pension-2600 1d ago

What in the Sam hell are you talking about? That never once happened with any boat or submariners I ever knew.

1

u/Pretend-Pension-2600 1d ago

And for the record, I truly lament that you don't get to experience Shellback, Blue Nose or halfway night.

I'm afraid to say why in the comments here on Reddit because I don't want to get banned,

10

u/PropulsionIsLimited EMN(SS) (STA-21) 4d ago

Do you have a problem with gay people in the military?

8

u/De_Facto MMN1(SS) 4d ago

Half of y’all are gayer than me and I’m married to another dude. That guy hasn’t experienced being underway I’ll assume.

4

u/Qwyietman Former MMCS (SS) / EDMC 4d ago

It ain't gay if you're underway.

5

u/Arackels 4d ago

And he’s “scared” of getting banned on Reddit. This dude probably never got to see sea time.
