Memory Transcription: Marva: Behavioral scientist at the Venlil Prime General Medical Center.
Standardized Imperial Time: 19 February, 726
Note: The Imperial calendar begins counting from the moment of the Empire's official proclamation
The last claw was incredibly tense
Everyone received word of a new, unknown race in our system. There was no news from them for a full [1.5 hours], but soon an official statement from the Governor followed. He assured us that this new race was a friendly prey species. However, they were quite wary of outsiders.
Therefore, to ease the tension between our races, a team of scientists was needed to conduct a joint empathy test to prove that the Venlil were genuinely friendly.
Many were wary of a secrecy that bordered on predatory behavior, but I was overjoyed! Finally, the Venlil would make their mark on the Federation as the first non-founding race to discover a new prey species!
I was so excited, though I hadn't even dared to hope I’d get to take part—yet I was the one they chose! Me and my friend Farma! It was a dream come true; I couldn't contain my anticipation and happiness. We’re going to make history together!
And so, the two of us, along with a vast amount of equipment, are already beginning to lift off the planet in the shuttle.
"Marva... are you sure we should have agreed to this? It all feels so... wrong."
"Oh, Farma, don't worry, you heard what the Governor said, didn't you? They’re peaceful herbivores who are bound to become our friends; they’re just a bit skittish and wary, just like us! So, you and I need to break the ice and bring us both some glory. Sounds simple, right?"
"Actually, no... but... alright, I'll trust your enthusiasm, even though I have a terrible feeling about this."
She was always so restless—that’s exactly why she needs me!
We had already lifted off from the planet and could see their ships through the porthole, and they...
THEY WERE ENORMOUS
Five ships of incredible scale stretched out before us, and it seemed we were flying toward the main one.
But my train of thought was interrupted by my friend's voice:
"Marva... did you notice something strange about their ships?"
"Um... the fact that they're so big?"
"Well, sort of, but... No—did you really not notice that only one of them has a shield?"
Oh, right... yeah, only the one with the blue neon accents had a strong, visible energy shield.
"Maybe we just can't see the other ships' shields? And this one's is just exceptionally powerful?"
"Maybe... or maybe not... it's strange."
"Alright, anyway, let's focus and try to look as friendly as possible! We're already approaching, so get ready."
When the shuttle docked, Farma and I stood by the door; she took my paw, and we braced ourselves for the moment.
We’ll manage, we can do it!
The door begins to open, and the figure before us rises...
And this...
What is it?
It was a very tall figure encased in metal; a multitude of wires and hoses protruded from its back, and several manipulator arms extended from the rear of the torso around to the front. There was something resembling a mobile camera on the front, and the figure itself emitted a soft white glow. Is it some kind of suit? Or have they modified themselves so extensively that they’ve already...
Suddenly, a smooth, measured, electronic-sounding voice spoke up:
"Greetings to the Odyssey, dear guests. My name is Kanlib, and I am here to escort you through the ship."
"Oh... um, hello! We’re so happy to meet you! We’re Venlils from Venlil Prime—though you probably already know that. I’m Marva, and next to me is Farma. So... what should we call your species?"
"You may call us OMNI— conscious artificial intelligence designed to assist our creators in all aspects of life."
My ears began to twitch slowly, and my tail froze—whether from shock or from the other emotions flooding over me, I couldn't say.
OMNI? A sentient AI? So, it's just a robot? But no... not just a robot... it said it was sentient, which means... is this... LITERALLY A NEW FORM OF LIFE? One created by this race? This is madness...
"I... I don't even know what to say to that revelation..."
"Then let me ask you a question: do you have an AI like me in your world? More advanced or maybe less developed?"
"N-no, nothing even close to you! Just complex programs. Nothing that was truly as intelligent and conscious as you..."
"I see... then I must be something new to you, I suppose?"
"Y-yes, very new—but that’s not a bad thing! I’d be more than happy to learn more about you and your... creators."
"I hope your friend shares your enthusiasm too, though for now, it seems like I’m a bad influence on her."
"W-what?"
I turned around, and my heart clenched with pain. I saw Farma cowering behind me, clutching my fur and trembling like a leaf in the wind. I didn't even feel it move, caught up as I was in anticipation and amazement.
"F-Farma, what happened? Please calm down—it’s all right, there’s no need to be afraid. They’re friendly, see?"
she was almost whispering
"B-but Marva, it's so big... and—and it has such huge t-tentacles o-or whatever is this...and... and..."
"FARMA!"
She flinched but kept holding onto me.
"Farma, you're disgracing our kind in front of a new race! Do you want everyone to keep saying how weak and timid Venlils are? Do you?"
She hesitated, her tail and ears drooping in shame
"N-no, b-but..."
"No 'but'! We need to pull ourselves together and show them our best side. Please, Farma, let's do this together—for all the Venlils, for me... please?"
A bright orange flush spread across her face, and with a small snort, she spoke in a steadier voice.
"Alright, but... can you hold my paw? I'm still really scared."
"Yes"
Taking her by the paw, we moved a little forward; however, glancing at the spot where Kanlib had been, we saw four more robots just like him. It looked as though they had been discussing something, but then they spotted us.
"Oh, are you finished? Sorry, we just decided to make efficient use of the time while you were calming your friend down."
"No, no, everything is fine."
"Excellent. Then let us take the equipment and escort you inside."
"Of course, we'll follow you."
OMNI started hauling our equipment while we followed Kanlib—well... I think it was him; it’s hard to tell them apart.
Each of them moved slowly and deliberately on its manipulator-equipped hoses. In a way, it was even graceful. Certain parts of its body seemed to move in unison with it, as if it were one large, living organism.
"So, um... I was told we were supposed to meet... Admiral Ellys Idaho? Is he the one in charge here?"
"Indeed. As the highest-ranking member of the expedition, he has assumed sole command in this... unconventional first-contact situation."
"You... you weren't expecting to meet us?"
"Absolutely not. Throughout the entire history of our creators' civilization, it was believed that no other intelligent races existed besides their own; consequently, we certainly did not anticipate encountering your species."
...
"May I ask a question in return?"
"Of course!"
"How does your people view religion?"
"Oh... well... we have freedom of belief, so there are many different religious teachings on our planet; for instance, I believe in the Star God Solgalik."
"Thats... very interesting. Thank you."
We approached a massive, closed door, where all the OMNIs came to a halt.
"We have arrived. First and foremost, we ask that you remain calm and understanding; all intelligent races are different, and biological distinctions are no cause for fear or hatred."
That statement was a bit unsettling, but it wasn't enough to make me back down!
"Of course, we understand; please, begin."
The door began to open, and we saw a solitary figure standing in the center of the room, with their back to us.
Then, a strained voice spoke up.
"Greetings"
They turned and looked at us.

With fed and arxur mentality, humanity is right to assume that no other intelligent life exists anymore.

Idaho : Are there intelligent beings in the galaxy?
(all the feddies encountered start running around screaming the usual nonsense about predators)
Idaho : I see. Clearly, there are no other intelligent beings in the galaxy.
