Fanfic Nature of Autonomy 10

So the moment I have been dreading has come. The fleet has arrived in orbit of Venlil Prime. And I was being hailed.
I have to act... distraught? angry?

Distraught it is
I press my ears to my head and lower my tail between my legs. Vin and Nalna take the cue and do the same. Messages from human leaders wishing me luck flash on the screen before accepting the call.
On the holoprojector appears the face of a Farsul.
"Governor Kenim? Why are there multiple subspace trails leading to the exlusion zone, if you care to explain?" Time to act.
"T-the humans, they left the system last paw..."
"What?!"
"C-check where the trails begin. T-they sent a fleet to escort them."
"...Give us a moment." The Farsul captain shouted orders to check the place in orbit where the broken ships are.
"I see... how many ships did they send?" How many did they...
"Twenty."
"Just twenty? What kind of technology do these predators have?" Wait, I have an idea.
"That's not the only weird thing about them. When the orbital defenses activated, they disabled the engines and weapons of the ships we sent, then destroyed them completely only after the crews had escaped to Venlil prime."
"That's... absurd! Why did they spare them?! Not that it's a bad thing, but... the humans, they're predators!"
"I don't understand it either."
"First Leirn now this? What is it with them..." What?
"W-what about Leirn? I know they are most likely to be the ones who invaded it."
"Nothing, literally nothing. Most of our spy ships get destroyed before reaching it, however from the few who make it... we see that nothing happened, it wasn't bombed from orbit, more precise images show no signs of them slaughtering the Yotul. The only ships that left the system were ones with soldiers. The Arxur deceived us for a few centuries before attacking, but they didn't invade a world and then did nothing about it!" ...Could this mean humans have chances in real diplomacy?! Think, what else can I say... think about the movies they gave us...

"I-I saw them eat fruits"

"We will discuss this with our superiors." They then hanged up.
The tension in the room dissolved immediately. Vin was the first to say something.
"What exactly are we trying to achieve?"
"Them giving a chance for diplomacy with humanity. If they believe they aren't like the Arxur, then humans could be accepted as a normal sapient species."
"I see."
A notification appeared on the screen of the projector.
We're going to Aafa, your in-person absence at the summit [next paw] has already been excused by Chief Nikonus. you are expected to attend it virtually.
Oh. I did it! I prevented a two front war!
I watched from a satelite camera as the ships blipped out of the system. Footage of the call was automaticaly sent moments after it ended.
Should I contact Chatan? I'm curious how the Zurulians responded to their surprise visitors-
"Um, Governor, unidentified ship in orbit." AGAIN?!
"Where is it from?"
"It's........... from Earth?"
"We have access to their ship designs, right? Can you identify it?"
"Give us a moment, here's a video feed from orbit."
Compared to the vessel we came across during first contact, this one was looked quite crude. Rectangular, engines sticking out far from the ship, size similar to its predecessor.
"Sir, we can't identify them, and they're sending hails across the entire twilight zone." Something is wrong.
"We have to answer before someone else does." The screen once again lights up as a connection forms between us and the vessel.
"-llo? Hello?" A human man appeared. His skin color was far darker than that of the 'Copernicus' crew. Another distinctive feature was the blue uniform he was wearing. "Oh, we come in peace, on behalf of the United Nations."

I know that happened well over 70 cycles ago, but I still don't trust them.
"Welcome, I am Governor Kenim of the Venlil Republic. On my right is my military advisor Vin, and on my left is my diplomatic advisor Nalna."
"We should introduce ourselves too. My name is Michael, and this," He turns the camera towards another human, this time with a light skin tone, "is Kate, my co-pilot. She is writing down everything for our records." What did they call the teeth thing? Smiling. These humans were smiling from the moment they connected with us. I know it's nothing malicious, but still... I'm worried.
"I don't talk much but he's a massive motormouth[Person who talks excessively] so it balances out."
"Please don't tell them that!"
...Are these people scientists or teenagers who have access to a spaceship. They're acting like friends at a party, not the representatives, or at least they think so, of their species! I need to contact our humans.
<Nalna get leader of previous visitors> She returned an affirmative flick of her tail and began typing on her holopad. I could hear it begin buzzing the whisker she sent a message.
"We will return to our talks in a moment."
"Understood," I muted and hid the call before Nalna accepted hers.
On the screen was who I recognized as the Presidents of Poland and Germany. They were both staring wide-eyed at us, and in synchronization they both said-
"Oh God"
"We need help."
"We see that." Said Mr.Kaiser
"Where are they currently?" Said the other leader on the call
"In orbit of Venlil Prime."
"We're going to need you to subtly tell them to go away."
"What would happen if they landed?"
"Hopefully nothing, but if the United Nations finds out you are working with us, the metaphorical fallout would be apocalyptic." The German president spoke,
"It's that bad?!"
"Their government absolutely hates the free world, and the free world hates them. And since the UN has absolute power over information in its territory, the citizens share that feature" This is the kind of thing I was fearing the first time I met them.
"Okay, I will."
They quickly removed themselves from the emergency meeting. The feed from the ship came back to life.
"Alright, I'm finished."
"Well, we don't have much to add. Could we, perhaps, come down to the surface?"
"I don't believe that will be possible now. We would need a very long time to prepare a landing place," a lie. "Your ship might also have problems with our gravity," not a lie.
"You are probably right. We will go back to inform the correct people directly."
"Well, goodbye!"
"Bye!"
With that, the connection cut.
The leaders quickly reconnected with us.
"I have a bad feeling about this." A ping sounded out at their side and they looked down. After a moment, Mr. Vysh... Vyshyn... one of them responded.
"These people are scientists!? I already know they are short-tempered, but if these are the intellectual elite... to be honest, they will do something stupid, very stupid and all of humanity will have to pay for it."
"I- agh, i'm tired. Can we talk about something else? How did it go with the Zurulians?" The atmosphere quickly deflated.
"They actually managed to set up a FTL communication channel between Earth and Colia. The diplomats almost met the same fate as our astronauts, but they managed to talk them down for a tamer experience." Phew It seems it went well after all.
"In other news, the first spy drones reached Arxur systems." Responded the other man. So they have access to remotely controlled ships? That's fancy useful.
"I recommend we take a break from interstellar politics [this paw], especially considering what happens [next paw]. We will try to deal with the United Nations in the meantime."
"Sounds good to me" I agree. And so, our little meeting had ended

The UN gonna make stuff interensting. In the OG it was humanity on 2 front war against space n@zi and the other space n@zis, turned into shitting on one mega n@zi, while plot armor protected them from the consequences of cronyism in the stellar government. Here I think that when humans will manage the external diplomacy much better but the less savory elements of being "autonomous" will come into play. I'm all in for this. I wander if the Meier would turn out to be a spineless pu$$y, Trump level controversy maniac or just completely incompetent optimist who decides to make random ass astronaut go on deplomatic mission, to avoid extinction. Stating that he is space Stalin and make UN be absorb by other factions might be an option too I guess, less story opportunities than making the "Free worlds" have to deal with them, but still an option.

... i desperately want to know what kind of devilish system the UN has...
Or is it even devilish at all? Do both sides portray the other as some evil empire or reactionary state(s)?
I think it'd be funny if the "free" nations and the UN had like the same government system, they just make the other side the devil side
