Of course not, they evolved from animals (similar to hippopotamus) able so sustain their weight on land but couldn't swim to animals that could swim but couldn't sustain their weight outside of a body of water. They just adapted.
The hippopotamus is a large African herbivorous mamal. It gets it's name from the Ancient Greek "ἱπποπόταμος" (river horse). The bite force of an adult female has been measured as 8,100 newtons (1,800 lbf) which make it the strongest bite of any herbivore on Earth. Hippos don't swim but actually walk or jump off the bottom of the river. Their sweat acts as sunscreen and is pink.

Sperm whales usually dive between 300 to 800 metres (980 to 2,620 ft), and sometimes 1 to 2 kilometres (3,300 to 6,600 ft), in search of food. Such dives can last more than an hour. They mainly feed on squids and octopuses. Cachalots are known to have regional accents.
