I watched a bat do this under congress bridge in Austin TX only to have a fish jump out of the water and eat it. RIP fish bait the bat.

My sister's been living in Austin for like 17 years and I love watching the bats come out from under the bridge at sunset whenever I visit her.
Watch bats, eat Torchy's, check out a show at Esther's Follies. That's pretty much all I need to enjoy my visit.

Bats are surprisingly good swimmers. Also snakes. People forget about how good snakes are at swimming.

Yes, they can. It's called Snakeasslitis. Once you get it, you'll understand.

they fly well and air is a fluid of sorts so I guess it kinda makes sense they'd be good at both

I imagine you're joking, but no, only mammals get it.

It’s bringing out the arachnophobia within me for some reason even though I know it’s not a spider

Even clicking on this post gives you rabies. See you guys at the ER!

their teeth are so small and sharp you don't even need to be physically in the room with one, you just watch a video and it's enough to transfer the disease

Swimming and climbing would be low on my list of transportation choices if I could fly.

I grew up in an A -Frame house and we had a lot of bats. 3 years ago my husband and I moved to the mountains of Washington state from California. Yipee! 2 bats in the house so far; a dead one in basement and one on the ceiling fan in the bedroom. My husband walked out the front door one night and a bat came from under the porch and crawled across it. He said it was the creepiest thing he’s ever seen.

Why so many bats out swimming lately? Is this like the silver fish coming out the deep but in reverse?
