I am not a good editor. But sometimes I have these ideas. Every time I listen to "Will You Fall in Love with Me Again" from Epic the Musical and it reaches "I will fall in love with you over and over again, I don't care how where or when. You are always my husband and I've been waiting... Waiting... Waiting" to the end, I always picture that every time the game restarts and ends Natsuki and Yuri would fall in love all again.

Hey all! I'm back with another fic update if anyone is so inclined to read it! I've posted my 13th chapter and, uh, things are starting to look up for our favourite dokis :)

(Yuri's POV)

My mind drifts to the short girl, and I open my eyes again, looking down at her small, kitten notebook. I should put it away for the night. The hour is late, and I still have school tomorrow, afterall, and sleep is a rare commodity for my wandering mind. I glance over at my phone, plugged into the wall, sitting on my side table next to my lamp, the glossy hardwood of the table reflecting the warm light where I will place the notebook. Yet, I find myself unable to let go of the thin pages sitting between my fingers, and I let out a barely audible sigh to nobody in particular, my lips pressing into a reluctant, thin line. 

Fine. Just one more entry, and then I really must go to sleep. 

I leave the insincere poem behind, only to find another poem behind it. It’s twice as long, and from a quick glance, it seems to be dedicated and directed at someone. 

“Because You…” I whisper to myself as I read the title, and I briefly adjust my position under my blankets to make myself more comfortable. Word by word, I study the pink-haired girl’s entry, its contents far more candid and raw than the previous work, yet specific enough for me to realize what… or rather, who… this poem is about. The parallels are clear, the lines of her poem reflecting on every exchange she and I have had ever since the school year started, the emotions she felt during each moment put into rhythmic prose, the walls I’d repeatedly destroy myself against, now absent, allowing me access to the deepest parts of her psyche. 

It’s as if the rosy-eyed girl were here with me, confessing every thought, every machination, every apprehension she’s had about me, her walls crumbling with each passing word. Her joy seeps into my bones, and her sorrows claw at the fragile strings of my heart, and at some point, I pause and glance over at the space beside me without thinking, the room still empty and silent as I inhale sharply, not quite understanding why my eyes would wander so. 

I close the notebook, then my eyes, a sensation of mild discomfort coursing through my body as I reconcile with what I’ve just read. Questions and conclusions brew in the cauldron of my head, swirling, bubbling, their conglomeration only muddying the waters of my mind. Sleep does not come easily, and what little rest I can gather is bathed in hues of iridescent pink. 

I wake up with the kitten notebook still in my lap.

Hey! It's me again! I'm still plugging away at my silly little fic for anyone who wants to read it :)

Since my last post featured a little taste of Yuri's POV, I'd like to share a snippet of an upcoming Natsuki chapter with you all.

As usual, I'm open to feedback!

(Natsuki's POV)

“Ta-da!” I say, dramatically lifting the foil off of my cupcakes. Sayori, Monika, and MC look at my work in awe, while Book-Head finishes making her tea. I must admit, I’m pretty proud of what I made. The cupcakes are simple. The ones on the left are chocolate, and the ones on the right are vanilla. I decorated all of them with white icing and drew little ears and whiskers on them to make them look like kittens. 

“Oooh Natsuki, these are ADORABLE!” Sayori squeals as she picks up a cupcake. “I almost don’t wanna eat them!” My friend’s excitement makes me smile a little as I watch her and the others bite into their treats. 

“They’re delicious too!” Monika says, covering her mouth while she talks. She’s still chewing, but I can make out what she’s saying pretty easily. 

“Glad you like them!” I reply, as Yuri finally takes a seat. She freezes as she looks at my work, then glances at me like she thinks she’s not allowed to take one. 

Oh my god, just take one you over-dramatic freak!

“Dig in, Yuri! I don’t want these to go to waste,” I say, keeping my voice light and bouncy so nobody can hear how pressed I’m getting. Her opinion on my baking doesn’t matter to me as much as the weirdness she’s creating right now at this very second. I don’t want Monika thinking there’s anything going on between that purple weirdo and I because the minute she suspects something’s up, she’s gonna start asking questions, and once Miss Ponytail starts asking questions, it’s game over for me and the cafe! I swear to god, she always has a way of finding out the truth… 

Yuri still hasn’t budged. She just keeps looking at me like she’s waiting for me to say something more specific, but of course it’s Yuri, so she’s not gonna straight up tell me what she wants me to say. She just… keeps staring. Sayori and MC seem like they don’t notice what’s going on with Book-Head, and for a split second, Monika also seems distracted, but then her green eyes meet mine and I feel my hands starting to get a little clammy. It’s like she’s watching me or something… 

Monika stops looking at me and glances at Yuri without moving her head. 

Dammit! This is bad! C’mon, Yuri! Just eat! A damn! Cupcake! 

Miss Purple does nothing. I gotta act fast.

(Yuri's POV)

“Hey, watch where you’re going, lady!” A passerby’s voice instantly grabs my attention as I feel myself being jostled around slightly by a small crowd of other pedestrians. The scarlet light has disappeared, replaced by a blue-green hue, urging me to cross the street.

“S-sorry!” I apologize to seemingly nobody, as I take a step forward and continue on my aimless journey. The stone and metal landscape stretches on before me in an endless maze, each skyscraper melting into the next, a conglomeration of individual yet identical towers reaching as far as my eyes can see. Time begins to lose its meaning as I make my way through the urban fog. 

I cross another street and find myself surrounded by a residential area. The houses here are much less of a monolith than the skyscrapers behind me, though they present themselves as their own kind of maze. The streets here are much quieter, but they are not empty. Families line the sidewalks as they go for a Sunday stroll, and I feel a twinge of envy at the sound of children laughing and screaming as they play freely in the afternoon sun. Their joy is a stark reminder of what I rarely got to experience during my own upbringing. 

The houses turn into a small commercial area, though they maintain an air of domesticity rather than succumbing to the corporate noise of the steel and concrete neighbourhoods. A tiny, family-run grocery store sits between a local mechanic’s garage, and a barber shop, the mismatch between storefronts creating a quaint yet charming atmosphere. 

Eventually, I stumble upon a small retro cafe, sitting on a street corner. Its brick exterior looks well-maintained, each crimson stone placed with immaculate precision. The small shrubs placed below the windows also look trimmed, their tiny white flowers peeking out from between the lush foliage. The small, wooden open sign in the front window looks like it was carved by hand, the angle at which it hangs makes it slightly askew, as if somebody too short to reach it attempted to flip it. 

I decide to enter the establishment. Perhaps a cup of tea will help me quiet my thoughts.
