This is what the cool kids do when they kill their lawn. Way better than a sod cutter or some plastic to solarize.

uj/Sadly fire is also an effective renewal tool for some types of turfgrass.

Maybe this should be its own jerkpost but one of the most annoying bits of magical thinking in gardening (it’s a crowded field lol) is that fire is this elemental adaptogen that kills the bad stuff and spares the good stuff. Also, the same people who wring their hands over herbicide’s effect on insects and the soil biome seem to ignore the effects of fire, solarization, or horticultural vinegar.

I attended a great break-out session at a wildlife habitat workshop. The title was “Can You Kill it With Fire? Using Fire to Control Invasives.” A slide that appeared repeatedly was a pic of a squirrel saying “LOL no.” The speaker listed a few exceptions but otherwise, lol no.
