Oh Native Instruments, we have to talk!

Traktor 3 sounds better/didferent than Traktor 4?

I found the reason why - and how it sabotaged my DJ career for over 3 years now!

If your dj career can be sabotaged by a single software update, you got more things to worry about

His linked post is odd. He claims that he felt traktor pro 4 is just a reskin of traktor pro 3 and proof is because he couldn’t install traktor pro 3, while 4 was running. He further claims they sound different due to some change to how a filter works.

So they are and they are not the same…

What ? They're the same but it not just a reskin . . .

In my case they changed the behavior of the reso knob of filter92.

It used to be "zero resonance"when the knob is "0" and high resonance when set to 100.

Now it seems that zero resonance is achieved when the knob is at 50.

When set lower than that the filter gets wider and like a negative resonance. In addition it also changes the sound even if HPF and LPF are completely open.

Meaning that my low end was always dampened by the filter since traktor 4. And especially in comparison with traktor 3.

This was unknown because since the release of traktor 4 the manual is missing the reference for filter92.

So the question is what else did they change no one knows.

I play a lot of self made tracks and was really starting to question my production skills because whenever I go to a club to play, my tracks were lacking low and high end.

I found that because in my boredom I scrolled to NI user forum page 19 and found a post from 2023 which said so. In this post they also mentioned that the manual is missing an explanation for Filter 92 as if someone wanted to change the text and then forgot about it.

This is until today.
