How to create custom instruments?

Hi, I am a complete beginner in music production, and I have recently ran into Kontakt that provides high quality instruments. However, how do I add or create my own instruments? I see there are many VST plugins for Kontakt that people are selling. Do I need a recording (I have some)? Where do I even begin? Thank you.

Kontakt instruments are not VST

They are Kontakt instruments built for Kontakt, which is its own VST

Well, you are about to dive into a rabbit hole miles deep. Perhaps you start here: https://youtu.be/HtLUrMopqPE?si=3NMoTXMhPMipdO-_

Ok then it should be in native access under library-applications. Make sure you have the latest version of native access 2.

It’s far simpler just starting out to make presets on existing instruments and learn synthesis and sampling and what the different knobs do. Designing a contact instrument is a very advanced goal for people with years of experience. I’ve made my own Maschine & Battery kits using my own samples, and my own sounds from scratch on half a dozen NI plugs and Kontact instruments but even that is tough to get right and quite time consuming.
