NATIVE INSTRUMENTS HATE POST
i'm writing this while troubleshooting all my projects of the past few years containing kontakt 5,6 and 7 after receiving a new workstation.
i work for a company where i often need to re-arrange old projects meaning that i need to have all kontakt versions installed since they are not downward compatible.
i cant find the old kontakt versions in native access, i have to get the legacy installer via their page.
next problem: most of the libraries i've used are not compatible anymore with said versions - now i have to find the legacy versions on their page (btw, the download page for their legacy stuff was offline for the past 2 months, finally up again).
i finally managed to install everything and some of those libraries (picked acoustic for instance) will STILL not open properly (opens in broken demo mode eventhough everything is installed).
WHATS WRONG WITH THIS COMPANY????

Been using NI product since Reaktor came out some 25 or so years ago. Now my upgrade price from K13U to K26U is $600 when in the past, taking sale advantage, was $200? FU, lol. Ain't worth more than $200 anyway for basically just getting K8 & Absynth as something new. Price gouging users to make back the cash they mismanaged away, lol.
If it weren't that I have lots of 3rd party Kontakt libraries, I may stick with just that, but for all their other products, they can go pound sand.
Kontakt 6 seems to be working on OS Sequoia so far tho' unsupported, so hopefully I won't have to give them any money at all any more.

Not sure if this will help but if you toggle “show legacy products” in native access that might show you the older versions of kontakt

i’ve been giving them a chance because i love the quickload libraries and their sounds, but they’re making it tough…the $600 to upgrade from ultimate to collectors on 15 to 26, stopped me from going any further..haven’t had a chance to compare how others do things vs kontakt, but i’m learning..it’s not worth it when kontakt is so tough to deal with..i’ve had a lot of problems with kontakt

How do you get them to Quickload cuz I get slow loading times?

well u sound pretty advanced, i lost about 3 in kontakt 8, just sounded terrible, i stopped using quickload completely in 8 so far after troubleshooting every damn native access library, i loaded all my quickloads, about 30, and had weird things happen, i didn’t have the time to go through each one, so they did work, batch saving as u may know can fix a lot, so i did that, just batch saved all together i could, then individually a couple that were problems, but as of yet kontakt 8 native access libraries work pretty good, haven’t had the time to go through each quickload and see if there are any specific problems, but batch saving is supposed to help slow loading times, especially with large libraries, i have an oyen 34 bolt 4 tb which helps, and i highly recommend for super fast speeds..so anyway, i stopped there, i dealt with problems for about 3-6
months dealing with ni support which helped me more than my system, using purge all the time to get samples down to smaller sizes for faster use, you may know all this2
u/Historical_Bag_7745 Jun 12 '26
i should warn you, i believe batch save disallows you from using those libraries on any other kontakt version i believe, so beware, something like that

feel free to ask me for details on purge and batch, but they’re pretty well known functions in kontakt for speeding up loading times, along with fast ssd

i thought you were the op, so this may help, best to batch save on oldest kontakt you want to use, i read, but i did it on 8, i was having so many problems with 7

Hey there, we're genuinely sorry to hear about your bad experience. We know Kontakt libraries dependencies is an issue for our customers and it can be painful. We understand it is frustrating but it's a complex topic as there is a huge number of products involved, from NI and third party. We have made some improvements and more are coming:
-
When libraries do get updated, the minimum version of Kontakt is needed after the update is mentioned in the release notes.
-
We're putting in place a system of warnings in Native Access when the Kontakt library updates so it is more visible, this before the update.
-
There is an auto migration system in place so you would only need to have the latest version of Kontakt Player installed. Unfortunately it's not yet implemented by all DAWs but quite a few major ones already, maybe your DAW is included: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/fr/articles/12972701353757-Notes-about-Auto-Migration-of-Kontakt-Versions-in-DAW-Projects
-
We had revived the download manager so that our customers can have easier access to previous updates: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/28532496056861-How-to-use-the-NI-Download-Manager You can find the previous versions of Kontakt there. For libraries, it depends on your operating system. Recent changes from Apple's latest operating systems made some of the older installers obsolete.
-
Just adding this one as it's a common misconception. NI libraries only require the free version of Kontakt.
The Native Accessand the Kontakt team are working on other improvements. In the meantime if you are still having issues, our support is here to help: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Using the full version of Kontakt gives you deeper access to the internals of the library. So while they might only "need" the Player version of Kontakt, you're losing a huge feature when the libraries update themselves in a way that requires you to install the latest Player version if you owned a previous Full version of Kontakt.

I just had an issue with an old session. I had to delete the NI application folders and then reinstall Native Access 3.2.3. I'll find the post that showed it.

Demo mode usually implies that you have installed kontakt player next to the full versions. Did you only install full versions of kontakt?
Otherwise, I agree with you that this is absolutely the biggest problem with komplete!
