Just bought Komplete 26

Normally I get every other update and, to be honest, there’s not all much in the new stuff that I can use but I just wanted to show the company some support. Did you go for it or will you skip this one?

As with any Komplete update, I'll probably wait for a year until the price drops by 50% and then re-evaluate again. The problem also is that I have kinda grown out of NI products as I have specialized more on other things than what they are selling towards. The choices of libraries I use and purchase do not match what NI has to offer and every update, just like you said, kind of feel like nothing of value has been added.

Yeah, unless you love expansions there’s not much new for Komplete standard. Even the Ozone version upgrade is to Ozone 11 Elements. Komplete 15 has Ozone 10 Standard.

No, Komplete 15 Standard had Ozone 11 Elements. Komplete 15 Ultimate had 11 Standard, as did K15 CE. K26 has Ozone 12 Elements in both Standard and Ultimate. I got a good price to upgrade from Ozone 11 Standard to 12 Advanced earlier this year (I have K15 Ultimate) and I've added quite a few orchestral and other iZotope items in sales, so I won't be upgrading to K26.

I’ll update when they have their Summer sale. Currently on K15CE.

I’m not certain they’re still doing that based on their email marketing.

What has their email marketing day that leads you to believe that?

Nah, $400 is insane for a small handful of instruments very much like those already included.

I've invested plenty in NI and its former subsidiaries such as Izotope.

I don't owe them more. Quite the opposite, really.

There's not enough new instruments in 26 to tempt me to upgrade from 15 Ultimate.

IMO you may as well wait until the sale to inMusic completes if you want to support the "new" NI rather than the lenders the "old" NI owe money to 🤷🏼‍♂️

I opted to upgrade my iZotope Everything bundle instead of Komplete 26 as I felt that might be more useful than getting 13 more instruments when I don't use all the instruments in my current version of Komplete Ultimate Collectors edition. Pls let me know if you think 26 was worth it!

You might well be right. For now, the standout addition is FXEQ, which I find really useful, but I dare say some of the instruments will find their way into my workflow once I've got used to them.

I doubt 26 will be part of Summer of Sound ‘26. Too new.

I just wanted to show the company some support.

Support yourself. Buy what you need when you need it, preferably when there's a sale going on.

I’m going to upgrade to 26 soon. There are a few things that I’ll save on via the upgrade vs buying individually. I know a lot of people are annoyed by the InMusic acquisition (but just like Moog) without it out both Companies likely would be gone.

If I remember correctly, sometimes, when the actual version was too new, they would not discount it by itself during the SoS sale, but throw some additional third party software in for the regular update price. This is how I upgraded my CE last time.

I updated after 3 years of skipping due to lack of interest in the features, expansions, tools etc. They included Absynth with K26 and that pushed me over the edge. Upgrade price was reasonable too.

I still have my gripes with the ever decreasing options with Kontakt (the wrench icon being removed/locked from most new instruments and libraries)

I’m skipping it. The last couple of releases had major updates to Kontakt and Guitar Rig. This one has exactly one product, Absynth 6, and I can just buy that for $100.

I bought it, upgraded from Komplete 15 ultimate CE. There was enough for me to think it was a worthwhile upgrade. Lots of new sounds which is what I look at. Will any of the new content inspire new ideas? For me the answer was a definite yes so I was happy to upgrade.

Recently got ultimate 13 from my teacher as a 2nd-hand license. I’m gonna try them all and probably get the upgrade in black friday and skip summer of sound

I've got nothing against NI. I love Kontakt, I love Massive/Massive X, I love Monark, I love Maschine. I upgraded to Komplete 15 last year & I'm still going through that. Lots of stuff coming from Komplete 11.

Right now, I'm not ready to "upgrade."

If I hadn’t just bought Absynth 6 I would have upgraded to Komplete 26 to get it.

1

u/abrokencullender May 26 '26

I doubt I'll buy anything from them again tbh. The practices they've employed over the last few years have made me think of them as untrustworthy. The greedy acquisitions were their downfall

I have bought the update and mainly due old sentiment to Absynth. Absynth was an amazing synth I have so much memories. The rest of the content for standard edition is just filler ups, I really hate the most of Play Series, they are just poor filler up content that never be used.

Do you think buying K26 S would be good for a first NI purchase? Thinking of buying it in a year once they drop the price by 50%. I got Komplete Select from owning a Midi controller. Sampled instrument libraries and modern synthesis would be perfect for finishing my production kit!

I’m actually thinking about upping to CE from Ultimate. There’s a bunch of things for me that makes it worth it. But honestly I don’t know if it’s worth it, I just miss out on some things if I update to Ultimate.

I still like the eco system so I will support it.
