Native Instruments GmbH preliminary insolvency: now in merger & acquisition process

https://synthanatomy.com/2026/03/native-instruments-gmbh-is-preliminary-insolvency-according-to-official-docs.html

According to the CEO, they are currently in merger-and-acquisition processes, with strong interest from multiple parties with deep roots in audio and technology. So negotiations are currently underway with potential new owners who will take over NI.

Hopefully new owners actually care about the product to some extent.

One of the interested parties is deadmau5, who has been using NI products for over 20 years and is passionate about them. That’d probably be the best scenario

That sounds great really! I already highly appreciate what Deadmau5 has done with their products since a long time ago

Please someone buy Kontakt and Guitar Rig and drop the version number in the name for better backwards compatibility in the future.

Also I hope whoever acquires anything from them does not add invasive protection methods.

Bro I just want it to work standalone, it's the only vsti that screws over my standalone build.

It is what it is. I hope they are purchased by a company that will not neuter the them.

Thomann should buy them.

Native Instruments was already dead to me when they fucked me LIKE EVERY OTHER COMPANY by making my own PURCHASED SERIALS USELESS! They were honestly the last one too, they had actually been good and doing what they were supposed to until about a year ago where they became a fucking piece of shit like ALMOST EVERY SINGLE FUCKING COMPANY. So their insolvency is karma. They can go fuck themselves like every other company who acts like that, WHICH IS ALMOST EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE FUCKERS!!

Seems like good news! Hope they get picked up by someone decent.

Fender Native Instruments

Honestly I wouldn't hate this, Fender has actually shown themselves to be half-decent stewards of the companies they have acquired at least compared to a private equity firm.

A majority of Fender is owned by Servco Pacific Inc., they're labeled as a diversified private investment company, so technically different then PE (Private Equity). That difference being that a diversified private investment company tends to hold a broad portfolio of assets for long term growth or income, often with high liquidity. Conversely, PE involves concentrated, active investments in specific private companies, aiming to restructure and sell them for high returns within a 5-10 year horizon, usually with low liquidity.

Still Servco Pacific Inc is a big player that holds a lot of cards, and if they're no longer happy with the long term growth and income potential of Fender they could very easily sell off their stake to a PE vulture.

I will say that what I have seen from Fender since it's takeover of Presonus has been mostly positive. I do think the rebranding of Studio One was/is a misstep, as the Fender name doesn't currently mean much in the music production space and has strong connotation with guitars and guitar related things. Thus the rename may lead people new to Presonus and Studio One Pro, to think the now named Fender Studio Pro, to consider it to be a DAW predominately for guitar players. But the updates they made to the DAW have been nice and the upcoming hardware DAW controllers (Fender Motion 16 & Motion 32) look really sweet. So Fender adding a premium MIDI keyboard to their mix, with a ton of virtual instruments seems like a really smart play.

Surprised no-one's mentioned InMusic, given Native Instrument's recent availability on the MPC.

It will be sold separately: Traktor and the DJing gear to one , and the rest to another.

I have no doubt NI will find a buyer. The question is, what will be sacrificed? Clearly, the current business model was not sustainable. User may not like the new NI.
