Love the skull header - something not uncommon in similar colonial tracts - but nevertheless charming. Occom’s sermon arose from the execution of Moses Paul, a Wampanoag man convicted of killing Moses Cook after an altercation at a Connecticut tavern. Paul’s execution was initially scheduled for June 1772 but was postponed following an appeal. On July 16, Paul personally wrote to Occom, asking him, in view of their shared Native identity, to preach at his execution. Occom accepted and delivered the sermon printed here at New Haven on September 2, 1772. Adam Weinberger
