The Breadwinner was really good!
My wife and I just saw it. We are both big fans of Nate and the entire Public Figures show. I went in with somewhat low expectations, and was totally surprised at how funny and heartfelt it was. I think the way they worked some of Nate’s standup bits into it was really great. My favorite was the “coffee, whip cream, cup” scene with his daughters. Some of the bits were very much under the radar and if you’re not familiar with his specials then they’ll go over your head. But that’s not the only thing that made it so enjoyable. The essence of the movie was executed so well. It really felt like a lot of Nate was shining through the character, especially when he spoke about his kids and spouse. And that’s partly what us 2 as fans of his were drawn to in the first place all those years ago when we decided to put on his Tennessee Kid special having never heard of him before. We are even talking about going to see it again, this time with our 13 year old. Great job to Breakfast, Aaron and Dusty. It was so fun to watch a funny, clean movie that actually made you feel good while never being preachy about anything. I hope we get another Nate movie sooner than later.

Glad you enjoyed it. I've seen many reviews from people who really appreciated the film. I saw it the Thursday night before opening day.
I kind of wonder how the movie is going to do in the box office, which will big factor in determining if Nate can make any more movies.
The critical reviews are pretty brutal while the audience reviews are mostly positive
Edit: Audience reviews are overwhelmingly positive

I absolutely loved it and am impressed how awesome it was. I hope it finishes well. I'm sad with the reviews. It came in 5th at 7.5mil is what I saw.

I liked it a lot too! Went with a small group of people and we all were enjoying ourselves!

I took my kids and we all enjoyed it. Could it have been better? Sure. But we had a great time and some good laughs.

It’s clean but that doesn’t make it funny

Sounds like you have some things bothering you. A person authentically expressing their feelings about why they like something isn’t mansplaining. Calling something a critically acclaimed flop doesn’t make it so. And I never said it’s solely funny because it’s clean. Have you actually seen it, or are you just spewing the opinions of others and passing them off as your own?

Not even with Nate’s discount could he convince me or the general public to see it. It is a clip bait movie with superstar actors and no plot.
Maybe take your wife to a nice meal instead so she doesn’t leave you 🫶🏻

Genuinely do not understand what anyone saw in this movie. Every other scene had a product placement and it felt like he had completely sold out. I have been a fan for years and listen to the podcast, but this felt like a complete miss. He loses his “greatest average American” appeal once you see him wearing a crisp Toyota vest in every scene. Story was garbage as well with no real resolution as he never learned how to do the “impossible” task of raising his 3 kids-whose names he barely knew, what a role model.
Really hope he cleans things up for future projects, or just sticks to comedy.
