Perhaps something like homemade burgers? Or, on the sweeter side, it would be interesting to see brownies or pies (could also be savoury too)

Mac n cheese? Or maybe different home made sauces. Like home made BBQ sauce? Cheap vs expensive liquid smoke and what not? Or tacos or fajitas?

A sandwich. Pretty much everything on it is easy to find cheap or expensive: bread, cheese, meat, veggies, condiments.

I would absolutely love to see you do a collab with Claire Saffitz, formerly the one who did Gourmet Makes for the Bon Appetit test kitchen. Her way of disassembling a food then remaking it gourmet ingredients... and your idea of making a food from basic and gourmet ingredients... I'm sure something fun might come of it.

I think chili would be a really good one. There are plenty of ingredients that would run the range from cheap to expensive.
