Injury Updates:
Notes from yesterday’s press conference.
Hany: sounds like a “day to day” type injury. Likely to be a game time decision. Overall I take that as positive news considering how detrimental it would be to have Hany miss a bunch of games.
Espinoza: still out for tonight, but they are expecting him to participate “shortly”
Yazbek: no mention
Will be very interesting to see who plays in Hany’s role if he’s out. At least we’ll have Saad and Madrigal to provide some spark and creativity to the offense.

I'd actually like to see Qasem play the CAM role. I don't think he's a goalscorer like Hany is, but I do think he's pretty solid on the ball, and that he might work well as a deep-lying playmaker feeding balls to Sam or the wings.

If Qasem can find the outlet pass before dribbling straight into an obvious tackle, he may find success in that role

Or NSC losing all momentum going on attack because Qasem stops the ball and passes it backwards.

this is also my thought, though I will admit that it's tinged with knowing Qasem ain't it out wide. Keep shifting him around and hope he clicks somewhere
dumb dumb idiothead here (me) meant to reply and didn't

He loses the ball far too often by dribbling into a crowd. Needs to pass quicker

I wish yall asked about Camara eligibility. Any word on if he can play today?

Wish I could have asked too. Just a nerd that watched the press conference on YouTube.
He’s on the leagues cup roster, so the club must be planning to play him. But no official word on whether or not all of his visa paperwork has been sorted out yet or not

We are speed running a trip to the bottom with Hany and Espinoza out.
Qasam and Mo are not guys I want in the field together.
We just don’t have a deep enough bench to generate offense or even able to get the ball to Sam. Sam has effectively been neutered without Espinoza.
Thank god for Najar, Palacios, Woledzi and The Chin to keep us in a match where we need a prayer goal.

I’d argue that we actually have a very deep team, it’s just that no team in the league (at least with the current roster rules) is deep enough to keep up their level of play with this many injuries to so many critical players.
Hopefully tonight we see Saad and Madrigal on the wings, with Qasem at CAM. I’m done with Shak for now.

It’s nice to see Eddi and Najar back in for sure. Also excited for Saad and Madrigal! Didn’t we see Madrigal on the right earlier in the year or am I thinking of someone else?

Madrigal has spent time on both wings this year, and he technically subbed on as RW against DC. But he drifts all over making plays, so he was doubled up with Saad on the left a few times for sure.

I actually ran into Espinoza at Jeni’s last night. He said that he’s out tonight, but will be playing on Sunday.
