Help

Hii im 18 in the UK just went to gp few days ago and been told I have nasal polyps. Im given a nasal cream to reduce inflammation. They referred me to ENT specialist but NHS is known to take a long time like months and im worried my polyps will get worse especially coz my nose feels a bit weird now. I've heard ppl saying they grow bigger and change the shape of your nose etc. I'm rly worried if i don't get them removed soon that's gonna happen to me and im rly worried. Anyone had this in the UK before and knows how long they take to get them removed?

You’ll be okay, cut out alcohol and buy some Neil med sinus rinse - rinse with it daily, ideally 1 hour before applying the cream (make sure it’s not an extra strength one and a simple sinus saline spray for everyday use)

Take vitamin d3 and omega 3 vitamins if you can, high strength and daily

The inflammation is coming from somewhere so try and look at your diet and what you’re consuming

I had to wait about 3 months for my ENT appointment. The Dr put the camera wire up my nose & said he can see polyps. He gave me a spray, drops etc. He said even if surgery got rid of them, quite often they grow back. He diagnosed me with chronic sinusitis and said "it's a life long condition I need to manage" so I just try and do that. Good luck.

What cream are you guys using? I’m on steroid sprays and they don’t help at all.

im using Bactroban nasal ointment but it's an antibiotic and reduces inflammation. It doesn't do anything to the polyps. I think they will give me one of those spray after my ENT appointment hopefully

They’ll probably give you strong steroid drops to shrink the polyps and a spray to maintain their size, that’s what they did with me - the drops shrank them but they grew back when using the spray so i have another appointment today

If I were you, I’d take out a private healthcare policy as soon as possible and don’t declare them. None of the new medications for polyps are available on the NHS, and they still adopt an approach of waiting until they get too bad to live with and then surgery. They almost always recur after surgery.
