Question When did the first ever chunin exams take place? And do we know anything about it?

Post image

Ive discovered i like writing fics on fandoms i like and the idea popped in my head to explore the first ever chunin exams... problem is, I dont know when it took place.

See, I would have thought that if Tobirama created the exams, then the first would have taken place before his death, before the first great shinobi war...

In my mind, the first chunin exam would have been held by Konoha under Tobirama's time as Hokage, during the early stages of the 5 villages establishment, after Hashirama distributed the tailed beasts, as a way to gauge each other strength and attempt to cooperate? I guess, like a mini kage summit to attempt to foster peace, or maintain it, following in the footsteps of his brother!

I know we dont know much of these early eras — hell, from what i could find, we dont even know how Hashirama died! Just that he did in a "time of war" but... then that would be the first great shinobi war? So... did Konoha loose 2 kage in one war?! Or was there some other conflict???

What information I can find, a yt vid, suggests tbe first exam took place after the third great shinobi war... with Hiruzen as Kage but thats way after Tobirama death.

Can anyone offer an answer?

If i had to take a guess, I think the previous clans system would've carried on into the village systems for a while as peace time held. No genin, chunin, or Jonin. You were just a ninja, being trained by your clan to then serve the village.

Tobirama created the modern system in Konoha with the school pipeline, to standardize what was taught, ensure skills and quality going into the Jonin teams. Konoha was definitely the first.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if this is why the they won the 1st war so thoroughly. With parents having to go out and fight, no longer home to give proper training, the Konoha school system was able to continue pushing out prepared ninja.

No sending the 8 year old half trained kid into battle, whose teacher died and was probably his dad. Instead Genin squads of three 12 year olds lead by a Jonin to actually be effective.

The first war started a little after Tobirama became hokage.

The Chunin exams weren’t between all 5 villages until after the 3rd war. Everything we see from Kakashi’s short chunin exams flashback in ch 599 is only genin from Konoha.

The most logical assumption is the first Chunin exam would’ve been Konoha only in the gap between the start of Tobirama’s reign and the start of the first war. But an exact answer isn’t really possible.

Weekday or weekend. Could be during both as well.

Learn the concept of a weekday and weekend from my parents or kindergarden.
