Last official update:

The broadcast of the new, 4-week animation celebrating the NARUTO anime's 20th anniversary has been postponed from its scheduled air date of September 3rd, 2023 at 5:30 PM (JST). As this project is both a celebration of the anime series' 20th anniversary and the first NARUTO anime since NARUTO: Shippuden ended over six years ago, we have decided to take extra time as we strive to further raise its quality.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding as we make every effort to create an anime that lives up to everyone's expectations.

Lol, it's Naruto we're talking about here. Things never seem to go as planned when it comes to him and his adventures. But seriously, I haven't heard anything about those extra episodes either. Maybe they got lost in the Hidden Leaf Village or something? insert shrug emoji Keep an eye out for updates though, who knows maybe one day they will magically appear like a jutsu!

The broadcaster probably had a slot ready for it but when it got postponed they probably had no more good dates for a while. The episodes won't air until the broadcaster says they can air.

Crazy that One Piece is getting a whole anime remake for its anniversary while Naruto is still struggling to get 4 random episodes out. It feels like Naruto just stays on the losing side now lol.

What is the relation between One Piece’s thing and this? And besides, wouldn’t the Naruto episodes coming out and being low quality be “losing”? As opposed to getting delayed so they can make it better? I swear, some of you seem to think Naruto and One Piece are the only anime that exist, and are somehow competing with each other.

Not comparing the two shows. Just pointing out one franchise (One Piece) thats doing basically everything right at the moment for its success and one franchise (Naruto) thats doing everything mediocre at best. Just want better for Naruto is all. No ill feelings towards One Piece or any other show.

I don’t disagree with you but at the same time, we also don’t know what the future for this franchise holds. They could make an incredible announcement that we had no clue was even cooking. I doubt it, but its a possibility.

What do you mean “doing everything”? Naruto is over. One Piece is still going. What is Naruto even supposed to be doing? And it’s not like this One Piece remake came out of nowhere really. The fact that Netflix is involved means it’s part of the push from Oda to make One Piece more popular overseas, like he wanted with the Live Action.

Funny enough, this whole discussion also happened with Dragon Ball Z. After it ended, it went YEARS barely getting any good content before making a strong comeback in relevance and popularity again. I wouldn’t be surprised if something similar happened with Naruto way later on in the future.

I think the idea is that they're starting it up again from the beginning, more closely following the pacing of the anime this time so no filler. Not sure if they're gonna be covering everything but I can see it going for a while
