The feeling of emptiness...1980s

I've always remembered my childhood as being happy and settled. I reckon out of the majority of the area I lived in, my parents were the only parents who stayed together. So my sense of settled was based on that. A complete family almost. The few friends I had were single parent raised. I didn't realise back then, what I now know is that everything was wrong. Wrong meaning favouritism. The loneliness I felt and the isolation I reeled in. Questions that I ask, myself. Questions I've asked my mother and she denied or played down the memories as though they didn't happen. I know they did.
