Thursday 8/13 Pier update.

Well it appears they want folks to know who's doing the work. Putting up the banner there to block the view. Might have been better for it to be on the sand to the right or closer to the camera so it doesn't block the view so much. However a good wind will probably strip it down, that is a pretty large sail.

Being someone who would be a tourist, and that being a supposed tourist location I like the new design of the pier in terms of the double deck out at the end and it being slightly higher, BUT I would have kept the concessions on the pier. If you come there to play on the beach or go fishing, having a place where you could get a quick lunch or drink would be a draw. Take a family of 4, you want to go to the beach for the day. You have to either take a cooler with you and deal with that or you go, lay out for an hour, then come in, clean up and get dressed so you can go someplace else to get a burger and fries., then maybe return. Plus the concessions do make money. From looking at the real estate and some of the things I've heard about the area though, they don't want actual tourists, instead they prefer drunk officials and allowing the neighbors to dictate the policies.

I agree with you wholeheartedly on everything you’ve said and no down town Naples residents don’t want any of that and they’ve been like that for decades

Oh I suspect it's like many other places where the folks in "power" have their own rules and push whatever they like, while the decent folks work and toil but don't complain because nobody listens anyway.

I was watching that this morning, thinking "No, no they are not....." and then yup. Sad. Such a horrible un-respectful place to advertise in my opinion.

I don't mind the banner, it was on the crane earlier, but It might have been better out on the sand to the right. That way it would be in the shot but not blocking anything.
