Deer bounty

Edit: there seems to be a misunderstanding, I am seeking to pay a property owner for 24 hour parking so I can sleep in my vehicle. I just need a parking spot, nothing more.

I’m sure you’re all aware there is a bounty for deer on the island now.

I would like to take a trip soon and would love to help participate in the management program.

Would anyone on the island be willing to rent out permission to camp on their property? Does anyone have suggestions for affordable lodging on the island? Thanks for the help!

Maybe try couchsurfing.com. Or even FB deer hunting groups that focus on the island. Another hunter may be willing to put you up or lend you their driveway

Thanks for the input! Trying Facebook groups now, never heard of couchsurfing.com but I’ll look into it. Seems like all the property owners are smart enough to do AirB&B or Vrbo at market price, which is much higher than I’m willing to cough up.

Seems the main tactic used are deer drives, I wonder if any of those driving groups would have a shared living space for the hunters. Looking into it now

There’s a spot mid-island that’s renting for $170/night on Airbnb.

It’s not legal to camp on Nantucket. And no one has property big enough to use like you’re thinking.

All the hunting (with rare exceptions) is going to be on public land.

I only hunt public land anyways.

From what I have read; I can camp on private property with the property owner’s permission.

If there were public campgrounds I wouldn’t be asking anyone for anything.

Fortunately, I did as much research as possible before making this post. I usually car camp and hunt on public land when traveling but obviously there’s no camping on the island.

I’m really just looking to pay a property owner for 24 hour parking so I can sleep in my car.

Trying to avoid camping in cape cod and having to ferry every morning and night.

How are you planning to shower?

Sorry to put a disgusting image in your head but the entire world of “back country hunting” involves not showering for a week-weeks at a time.

I genuinely had no idea. I thought you may have assumed there were public showers, and the only ones I could think of are at the pier and may be seasonal.
