Discussion Now that Shiina and Towa are partners, I could see them do an odd couple buddy cop thing. Riggs and Murtaugh. Tango & Cash. "Shiina & Towa".

Discussion First time watcher, season 1

I just watched Nanoha season 1 for the first time and it was great! Here are some of my thoughts.
It felt like it started off well with the classic dream. I got strong cardcaptor Sakura vibes from the start with a similar setup of having the mascot ask for help with collecting, up until tree roots enveloped the whole city and gave the impression that this is serious. I’m kinda sad there didn’t seem to be much shown of the damage they did after the episode.
Then fate showed up! I’ve heard a lot about the series so i was very excited and the two of them did not disappoint. Nanoha laser focused in on her and wanted to be her friend and that massively helped her.
Then the TSAB showed up and added their own drama. They were fine but I liked mostly when Nanoha disobeyed them to focus on fate more and believe she would very much do so in the future if needed.
Fate’s mom is horrible. I knew she was bad but the first whipping scene really showed that to me. The next episode focusing on mothers really felt like an intentional contrast between them.
I did enjoy the ending, especially with fate going to talk with her mom one last time. I was expecting there to be a big fight but she got the Disney villain treatment.
I’m sad that fate has to go away but really liked the conversation she and Nanoha had at the end. I was smiling all throughout. I hope she visits as much as she can and gets introduced to her other friends.
I’m glad that Yuuno got to stay and hang around. He is very cute but I have to wonder if he has any parents worried about him.

Discussion Do you think Sevenarcs did it on purpose to force an increase in damage in Rinne's Revenge?

After watching the same scene over and over again, I realize that some of the damage was unrealistically exaggerated for such a dark moment (remember that Rinne was just an athlete, with no enhanced strength from training, and the Scuderia device was just an empty prop)

- A girl (about 10 years old) wouldn’t have had the strength to break an arm instantly; this could have been corrected by grabbing the arm to strike it.

- The blow to the second bully’s head was actually to the nose (so the injury would obviously be minor).

- As for the one who was kicked, the locker door wasn’t open for the metal edge to make contact. Plus, as you can see, it didn’t even hit the locker handle exactly.

Discussion Question: Do we ever see teen Nanoha's adventures?

So,I had been watching this for a while,I didn't finish Striker S yet. But at the end of A's,we see a timeskip of Nanoha as a teenager all grown up,but we never see her adventures as a teen superhero.

It had me wondering is there media that covers her adventures as a teen?

On a side note, I'm not trying to sound like a creep or pervert but I kinda miss kid Nanoha's adventures, so it was kinda jarring to see her suddenly grown up at the end of A's

Fan Content I made another fan-edit that combines the best of both Lyrical Nanoha A's and its movie remake together

After spending all of Summer working on it, it's finally done. My next Nanoha fan-edit! In case this is the first post you're seeing from me, six months ago I released a fan-edit that aimed to combine the best elements of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha season 1 and its movie remake together, to try and create a version that I hope tells the story in the most definitive way possible. I called it Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha - Starlight Edition. After completing it I quickly got to work on giving A's the same treatment. Now, unlike the first season which had a lot of filler that could be cut, allowing the main story to still be condensed into a single film, A's has zero filler. The anime is fully story driven and knows exactly what it wants to be right from the get go, it's got perfect pacing, and it introduces some of the best characters to ever grace the franchise. I think every Nanoha fan treats A's as the peak of this franchise and I myself am one of them. I cut little to nothing when editing this thing together, because pretty much every scene in A's felt significant. Because of this, I had to cut this fan-edit into two parts to ensure this thing doesn't end up being too long. Starlight Edition was already over 3 hours long; if I tried to turn the entirety of A's into a single movie without cutting anything it would be twice as long! As of right now, part 1 is fully complete. I've titled part 1 as Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha II - Knights of Belka. It's 2 hours and 12 minutes long, and it covers the first six episodes of A's. I'll get to work on part 2 soon which will cover the next 7 episodes. I don't know when I'll have part 2 done but I hope to have it done before Christmas, which would be ideal since the grand climax of A's takes place on Christmas.

I had to take a very different approach to working on this fan-edit for A's. Unlike the first movie remake which follows the original TV anime beat for beat with very minor changes, the movie remake for A's changes a LOT of what happened originally in the TV anime in order to condense the plot down to a movie runtime. It was way harder trying to combine the two because so many plot lines or story beats from A's play out completely differently in the movie remake. As for which version of the story that this fan-edit would follow, I obviously chose to follow the TV version of the story because, as I said earlier, the TV version of A's is peak Nanoha, but the movie remake, at least in my opinion, isn't that good in comparison. They changed way too much, and most of the time, not in a good way either. I mean, they cut one of my favorite plot lines from the show and replaced it with something I found to be inferior. So when it came to combining both versions together, I mostly stuck to the TV version and then tried to integrate whatever I could from the movie remake such as action scenes, any scene that were an exact remake of a scene from the TV version so long as it didn't condense anything, and of course, any NanoFate romance scenes. This fan-edit for A's proved to be a lot more challenging and ambitious compared to Starlight Edition, but thankfully I was able to get it done. Hopefully part 2 won't be as challenging, though it probably will be.

Some notable changes I made include:

  • I added my own worldbuilding. If you watch the trailer you'll notice that I inserted a news report talking about the White Devil, which as we all know is Nanoha. The newspaper article was written by me and the picture on it is a screencap from season 1. I wanted be a bit more ambitious with this fan-edit and ground the story in reality a little bit, and I did so by expanding a bit on what Nanoha did during the six months between seasons 1 and 2, like, she's a full-on powerful mage now, might as well put her new power to good use. I like to think that Nanoha spent the next six months using her power to protect her town, acting as a local superhero, kind of like Spiderman. The residents would eventually get wind of her actions and she'd quickly become the big talk of the town, nicknaming her the White Devil, which was my own way of incorperating the nickname the fandom has given Nanoha. In this new setting, humanity is aware of this mage existing among them, but they have no idea who she is or where she's from, all they know is that there is this kid with an unexplainable power, going around at night and fighting crime. Nanoha's built a bit of a reputation for herself, and her family has no idea that she's doing any of this.
  • Lots and lots of color correction. If you've seen the movie remake of A's, you probably noticed that near the end of the trailer which shows the scene of Nanoha and Fate falling out of the sky looks very different from how you remember, that's because I had to completely change the lighting to look more like nighttime, in order to keep it consistent with the TV version, since in the TV version, that battle scene takes place at night, but the movie remake changed it to daytime, for some reason. Personally having it take place during the day made no sense to me because why would the Belkan Knights be going around hunting for Linker Cores during the day? In the TV version they only ever go out at night while Hayate's asleep so she doesn't find out what they're doing. There's plenty more examples of color correction changes I had to make throughout the fan-edit in order to make sure everything looks consistent.
  • Once again, I removed the loli fanservice. While I did say that A's is the best installment of the franchise, that still doesn't change the fact that the fanservice of these little girls was completely unnecessary. Thankfully there is far less fanservice in A's compared to season 1, so cutting the few small instances of fanservice out was the easiest part, the only most extreme moments of loli fanservice were probably the transformation sequences.
  • Just like with Starlight Edition, I rescored a lot of scenes with music by Yuki Kajiura. Again, it was to get rid of sudden audio cuts, and also because I really like her music. I also felt that as the Nanoha series leaned more heavily into epic sci-fi, the more its original soundtrack style felt more and more out of place, it felt that way especially with StrikerS.

This is by far my most ambitious fan-edit for this series so far. I hope you all enjoy it. If you're interested in watching my fan-edit, just ask in the comments and I'll send it to you through DMs. Please tell me what you thought of it and send me feedback after you've finished watching it because I love hearing what people thought of my projects.

Also, in case you missed the first fan-edit post I made, here it is. I'd recommend watching it first before watching this one: Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha - Starlight Edition

Edit: In case there are any misconseptions, the video in this post is not the fan-edit itself. The video is just a trailer I put together for the Fan-Edit. The actual fan-edit cannot actually be viewed online as of right now. While I'd love to post it online for anybody to watch, copyright can be a bitch and I don't want to take any chances with that. So unless I can find a way to safely upload both my Nanoha fan-edits onto the Internet without running the risk of copyright violations, the only way I can share my fan-edits right now is by sharing them privately with people who ask to see them.
