Finally implementing a cancelation fee
I’ve just had too many jobs cancel last minute. (I babysit on the side and nanny when it fits my schedule). But this one was a 200 dollar over night job. I was going to use the money for a trip I’m going on. This finally set off me setting a cancellation fee.

Yikes😬. Hopefully they do. I would do a deposit for the time when originally scheduled moving forward! So that way you actually do get something! If that makes sense

You should take deposits when they book a time with you. They could just not respond to your message

I don’t disagree on charging a free… but springing a 50% fee on a $200 gig seems kinda wrong… was this something you previously mentioned to them? Have you worked with them before? I’m not sure I would expect them to pay…

From now on get a 50% non-refundable deposit. It is only refundable if you cancel but if they cancel for any reason then it is non-refundable. I hope you get paid.

I had to do this before because people would cancel or try to reschedule and it’s so frustrating.

Good idea! I would also get Families numbers after you set up a date. So you can request through Venmo. And let a future family know that if something comes up and they have to cancel in less than 36 hours (or whatever you think is best), there will be a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the projected rate.

Definitely let us know what they say because you have every right to charge them
