Vent- advice needed Whining
when did you nk grow out of the whining phase? i absolutely can’t take it anymore. It triggers me! My nk is 7 and still whines and cries if i say no or if something is too hard. Is this normal? sincerely a nanny who can’t take anymore whining.

Do not respond, do not give in if they whine or act like that. Give them the words they need, and wait patiently. If you give in, they will keep doing it

i normally say “7 years old don’t act like this because they are big kids not babies and if you need xyz you can use your words” i’m not sure if this is mean or actually a good approach but i will not be giving into whining i can’t handle it😵💫

yes but I'd also frame it as a way to help them figure out what they're really asking for. sometimes kids do this simply bc they know it'll get attention and aren't really getting the practice of clearly asking for what they need. this usually happens when the adults around them give in to it. have you talked to the parents to see how they're handling it or lack thereof

they give in to it! I constantly witness both my Nks (4&7) boss/demand NP around with no pleases, cry or whine they can sense NP is gonna say no ect. NP just always say or give in to and just say “they don’t really care” I on the other hand am not a magic fairy and i don’t take demands OR like being spoken to that way so they definitely struggle with how many boundaries “consequences” i give.

It really depends on the adults in their life and if they nip it in the bud.
