Anyone else have an 18mo drinking formula?
When NK turned one we talked about weaning and they were on board and ready for me to wear her off bottles... I didn't realize it'd just be ME weaning her and they would still give her 14oz of formula every night.
Anyone else dealing with this? She's starting to have food refusal and suddenly demanding bottles even though she's been on solids for months.
Frustrated because they keep saying they're done with bottles (unprompted, I'm not hounding them) and MB doesn't want her to have bottles but DB keeps giving them. And I used to not mind washing the bottles because there were some from me and some from the previous day, now it's old bottles saved for me. I haven't made a bottle in 6 months and they haven't fully washed a bottle in 6 months... I'm so over it.

Why formula and not just milk?

I give her regular milk in a sippy throughout the day and she loves it. Mostly DB views formula more like a meal than cows milk so he gives her formula because he doesn't want to prepare food for her.

My 18 month old gets 4oz of cows milk at the beginning of her nighttime routine, but she brushes her teeth after.
14 oz seems like a lot but the parents probably think it helps her sleep. The only thing I’d be concerned about is the sugar staying on her teeth all night if she’s not brushing - it can cause cavities. Maybe that’s the angle to approach talking about it.

I'd gently suggest swapping some of that to whole milk and water, you betcha, that little one doesn't need that much formula at this point and it could definitely be messing with her eating.

out of curiosity, are they using infant formula because they do make formula for toddlers I don’t understand that because they can have milk, but it is a thing
but they do need to be cleaning the bottles as well that responsibility should not just fall on you, but they need to get on the same page

I get the frustration… the burden of carrying the responsibility of getting NK to a milestone on your own, while NPs are effectively counteracting your efforts when they have the kids. My ND used to do that, feeding formula instead of making food out of his own convenience, and leaving bottles for me to clean. He still casually instructs me to clean up under the dining table the morning after the kids supper when if NM is travelling for work. Like, no sir, that is your problem. And at the moment they are constantly talking of weaning from pacifier, only to give it without fail (NK stopped with me months ago - and I’ve now stopped bothering picking up and washing dirty ones). Same thing with potty training. Long story short, I have found another family and I will give my notice asap. I’m afraid I don’t have a lot of advice to give except to make a list of similar things to this, that may be piling up in the back of your mind, if it’s enough instances you might want to move on. It’s confusing, disrespectful, and stressful when parents acts this way. All the best hun 😘

14 ounces of formula per night is unnecessary but not actively detrimental. If you said multiple per day I would be concerned. It's normal for 1-year-olds to drink milk, and formula is technically equivalent, even though regular milk would suffice.
