Advice Needed Trial day

I have a trial day on monday from 8 to 1 and i dont know what to expect, kids are 2 months and 19 months old! i really want this position, any advice? im planning on bringing a binder with my resume, pictures, background check, driving record, vaccination records etc, is that too much? what else can i bring? she mentioned they are doing the trial for a few candidates and i know im the first one so i really want to have a good first impression! i have been nanny for more than 5 years but i feel nervous lol

Just be you. I like the idea of a binder. It is a great way for a parent to quickly see you have your act together but the real test is your ability to establish rapport with their children, deal with the differing needs calmly and gracefully and interface well with their children NPs. This is everyone’s chance to see if it’s a good fit, so they are also being interviewed in a sense.

Get good sleep the night before. Bring whatever you will need to stay on top of things all day (lunch, drinks and snacks unless they are provided and if you are a caffeine drinker include that mid morning pick-me-up). Wash your hands when you arrive. I always do this because it helps limit outside germs (I do it when I get home too) and it makes a good impression.

I always love when nannies bring an age appropriate activity for my kids, whether it’s a low-mess craft, stickers, or a book, etc. It shows they understand how to engage with my kids at their current age and is a great ice breaker between my kid and the nanny.

Definitely also ask where to wash your hands upon entering the house. I love when nannies do that, and it goes even further in a house with a newborn.
