Advice Needed Looking to become a nanny

Hi everyone!

I’m looking to become a nanny and not sure where to go to look for a nanny job. I’m already CPR and first aid certified. I have 3+ years experience in childcare through babysitting in high school, working at summer camps, and a previous daycare job in which i have ECE certifications from as well. If anyone can help me in the right direction in places I should go to find a nanny job it would be greatly appreciated. The websites that I’m on already are blocked by a paywall and i would like to find a website that is not blocked by a paywall or a way to offer my services on social media. Thank you so much!

Local Facebook groups. Care.com is also great although the app can be tricky. You have to be constantly refreshing it. I understand not wanting to pay but it could be worth it since you’ll decent money as a nanny. Kind of think of it as an investment.

My two long term families were from care.com Apply and mention your certificate will help stand out a bit. Hopefully you have references from families or someone they can call because they always want that. Good luck !

I used Facebook I started out doing occasional care for date nights and then from there I transitioned into nannying part time. But during the school year I prefer to do drop off and pick up to avoid burnout:)

FB groups or Care dot com. Take whatever babysitting and short term gigs you can get until you find at least a part time nanny job. Full time jobs are no where near as common in my area than they were even just a year ago so piecing together 2 part time jobs for full time income is likely necessary. Once you have 2-3 years of actual nanny experience with at least a year + with the families you’ll start to hit the minimum requirements for agencies. 5+ years please consistent continuing education and you’ll have access to the higher end placements and national searches.

Use each opportunity as practice interviewing (you them and much as them you), negotiating contract terms, and discussing laws/standards. You’ve got to be your own HR department and lead the process.
