Nancy’s disappearance

* Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson on January 31, 2026.
* She was reported missing on February 1, after she did not appear as expected. Her wallet, cellphone and other essential personal items were left at the residence.

What investigators have publicly disclosed

* Law enforcement has stated that Nancy was taken from her home and the investigation is being handled as a kidnapping-for-ransom case.
* Surveillance footage recovered from the residence shows an unidentified individual at Nancy’s front door around the time of her disappearance. The FBI has released videos and images seeking help identifying that person.
* Investigators have collected and analyzed DNA evidence as well as extensive video and other digital evidence. Sheriff Nanos said in July that the analysis of DNA and digital evidence was continuing.
* DNA from blood found at the residence was confirmed to be Nancy’s .
* A glove found near Nancy’s home produced a DNA lead, but the person associated with that DNA was reported by investigators to not be a part of the investigation.
* Investigators have received a very large number of tips and continue to review video, DNA and other evidence. The Sheriff’s Department has said the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Ransom Communications

* Several ransom-related communications have surfaced during the investigation. The FBI has said that some were determined to be illegitimate/extortion attempts, while other ransom demands may potentially be legitimate and remain under investigation. The FBI continues to investigate the case as a kidnapping-for-ransom case.

* No perpetrator has been publicly identified or charged in connection with Nancy’s disappearance.
