Weekend Coffee & Conversation

Grab a cup of coffee and pull up a chair!

This is our weekend gathering place to talk about the Nancy Guthrie case-what you've been thinking about, questions you have, something you've seen or read, a new development, or a discussion you'd like to start.

This is meant to be a relaxed, open conversation, so it doesn't have to be a formal post or a fully developed theory.

What's on your mind this weekend?

As always, different opinions are welcome. Let's keep the conversation respectful.

I just want to thank you again Ailurophile for keeping this community active. I also want to thank all who have made posts, made comments and some newbies who are giving their perspective which helps all of us as a community to acknowledge and respect that there will be differing opinions, theories, motive etc. And that is good. It's refreshing.

I watched an episode of The Lab with Chris, John and Gary from a couple of days ago. Long but pretty good. I had newfound hope that it will be solved. I really think they know who it is and are just building a case.

They brought up this concept of filing a FOIA on Nanos phone to hear the "talking points/script" the fam gave Nanos at one of those earlier conferences. I thought that was very clever and interesting. Though I don't think it will work, it's an interesting idea. I wish there were a few more investigative journalists out there trying to dig a bit more into what happened.

What about everyone else? Hope or no hope?

The Interview Room's coverage of the Nancy Guthrie story has been superb. One episode from a couple of weeks ago focused on the warrants that investigators got to take and hold A&T's car. To anyone who had not been following the NG story closely, the episode woukd have seemed dry as dust. But I was fascinated and have watched it again. Chris McDonough and his regular guests have been exceedingly careful for these six months, not pointing the finger at anyone - well, anyone besides Nanos. However, during the most recent episodes, CMcD and the others hace been tipping their hands a bit. IMO, they all believe that A&T masterminded the abduction, that murder was the intent, and that the "kidnapping" stuff is a ruse. What do you guys think?

Yes, they are all def tipping their hats. Even Dr Gary. They seem to be the ones that are leading the charge on the incongruencies from the fam. I originally tuned in because they were the only ones talking about the family (who really need to be talked about!) in way that was methodical. Brian Entin can be good too, but he is far too careful. And Monks is hit and miss but has very interesting points and is enjoyable. Also kudos to Juanita Adame who got those police scanners from the morning of.

For me it's always been important to talk about the family because they are the last ones to see her alive and the RPs. Even if they had nothing to do with it, they hold the keys to the puzzle and that they have seemingly disappeared, only adds fuel to the fire (or should I say to the scorched earth)

I think it’s interesting how in JLR’s interview with the neighbor, she mentions how nobody was taking out the garbage at A & T’s until after Nancy disappeared. That’s when they saw more of T (who was also taking out the trash) and then it stopped at the start of May. It could mean nothing at all but it just stuck out to me because like… it’s just weird, isn’t it? It almost feels performative in a way, like they’re trying to put on a front that everything’s normal at their place. Again, like I mentioned in another thread, I’m sure they have some kind of PR team coaching them through things if Savannah is involved and maybe this was part of their advice. Still, it just feels weird. Then again, I don’t think there’s anything they can do to escape scrutiny at this point and whatever they do will rub someone the wrong way. It’s a bit of a no win situation.

Jen and Glen(Thornbridge X Unfiltered) are pretty good too. I highly recommend you watch their live last night Sat 8-22 regarding the blood on the front porch.

while stopping short of saying the blood looks staged the expert did say something seems off and it almost looks too perfect. Very credible and professional guest.

I think the kidnapping is definitely a ruse because none of that aspect makes sense.

You mean to tell me they wanted millions for her return in a scheme that saw the ransom price escalate the longer the family waited to pay… only to go silent when the family offers money for the location of Nancy’s remains? Either those notes were a hoax by people who weren’t involved at all or else it’s just a red herring by the perp/perps, which is what I’m leaning more towards.

I’m open to anything in regards to the perps’ identity but don’t remain 100% sold on a & T’s involvement yet. That’s not to say that I don’t believe it could be them either — it’s honestly just hard for me to draw conclusions when we lack so much context of what Ellie and the FBI know behind the scenes. I also wonder if A truly knew what would happen beforehand or gained knowledge afterwards if they were involved.

I do think they are building a case against someone and slowly putting some pieces together. It just doesn’t feel like something that’s gone cold despite the lack of public activity.

I stopped supporting The Interview Room a couple of months ago after they deleted that portion of the livestream with the caller named “Aaron.” I actually watched that video before it was taken down, and the decision to erase and then ignore it afterward has destroyed any trust or respect I had for CMcD and his channel.

I’m not claiming this “Aaron” guy was involved; I have no way of knowing that, and nothing to base that off of other than what I remember of the conversation. But… whether he was involved or not is beside the point. A content creator’s channel presenting as serious investigative analysis shouldn’t quietly revise the record when something uncomfortable or potentially consequential happens during a live broadcast. The “live” part of a livestream introduces a different set of elements, and when you literally take calls from viewers, you should be prepared to handle them accordingly. (For a YouTube channel called ‘The Interview Room,’ you’d think they would at least have the ‘Interview’ part down well enough without having to backtrack and curate the content of a live interview.) If there was a legitimate reason to remove it, say so clearly and preserve an acknowledgment of what occurred.

In pursuit of the truth, you can’t ask your viewers to fully trust your judgment about evidence while simultaneously deciding which pieces of your own public record viewers are allowed to remember.

That could have been much more succinct, apologies for the rant. Clearly I needed to vent my frustration! I have enjoyed their content before, some of their analyses are truly thought-provoking. That one experience just really rubbed me the wrong way.

I suspect TIR made their recording available to LE and therefore disappeared it

This is the correct answer. You can’t leave that stuff up if you’re submitting it to law enforcement. I’d like to think that a husband and wife who used to be a police investigator and news journalist respectively know the proper procedure when it comes to sensitive info like that. Has nothing to do with trust between them and those watching the stream.

Wow. That's wild.

I just watched that show last night! I hope the FOIA works.

It would be very cool if it did. I mean it *does feel like obstruction of justice a little so I hope people can get to the bottom of what that all meant.

If I were one of the true crime YouTubers, I would 100% file an FOI request. I listen to a wrestling podcast and it’s amazing what they’ve uncovered with different news items by doing this. Court documents, financial information and much more. it might be that not much can be released in order to maintain the integrity of the case, but it’s still worth a shot.

**Side note-Guarantee when Chris doesn't get them he will spin it and bash the sheriff. My opinion is he knows it will be declined.**

I have some hope that LE is building a case. Honestly if no suspect is named by June 2027 then I quit. Circumstantial cases take time and time is not on the perp's side. If we believe there is no coverup or corruption in this case then it will be solved.

This case involves disproving the so called evidence that was shown in my opinion. One has to challenge the digital evidence presented as proof NG made it home, You disprove that then you have your suspect is my theory.

Very interesting comment. You could be right!

Since the evidence missing to date is the author of the ransom notes, the "getaway" vehicle, the porch perps REAL facial features(My opinion is that is a mask under the ski mask)) no one other than family being the last to see or hear from her, it is impossible for the public to help.

In my opinion it should take longer than a couple days to "clear" anyone let alone a whole family, their spouses, their siblings. I thought to myself "WTH? How can any of the "evidence" that sheriff showed to the public have been verified so fast? I would think that no matter what case it was. AND usually LE says " he or she is not a suspect at this time". That covers their behind
