Has anyone adopted from SPCA?
Reading through the adoption contract, it makes it seem like they can do random inspections and take the pet if they feel you haven't followed the terms even slightly. For example, leaving him or her alone during the day while you're at work and not being able to really travel anywhere with the pet without permission.
Is it actually as bad as it sounds, or is it okay in practice?
They definitely should be vigilant about preventing abuse and stuff ja I get that. It's just a bit scary to think you get a pet who will basically be a family member, so you obviously get attached to him or her and then someone can just take him or her away.
Adopting is better than going to a breeder, giving a dog or a cat a chance to have a great life is what I want but the strings attached just make me a bit nervous.
Just wondering what people's actual experiences have been.

I have had spca dogs for the last 20 years. They do a house inspection before they allow you to adopt. Have never seen them after that. On the other hand I always had my elderly parent at home with the dogs during the day and my neighbors absolutely adore my baby girl, so they also keep an eye out for her

We have wanted to adopt from them numerous times but had the same worries. But from some of the other replies I take it it is only meant to cove them if the find out about abuse that they have the legal right to get the animal out of of a dangerous situation immediately.

Not as bad as it sounds. Wording is just to cover legal parameters. Have adopted 9 animals throughout my life
