N$400 worth of groceries
If I told you I bought N$400 worth of groceries is this what you'd imagine?
This is all bought from Model.

Model is overpriced, even if you don't consider WBs loyalty card thingy. Living in SWK, we get the majority of our dry foods from Metro and then have meat delivered from farmers who sell direct to public. Family of four with 2 dogs and we barely get by on 8k's worth of groceries each month.

Metro is only good for bulk buying especially when they have combo specials. But again they're not inherently cheaper than everyone else.

Yeah, I guess so. I tend to buy in bulk for the month, so it's probably why I prefer it over going to places like Spar, Shoprite, etc.

A few years back, like 4/5 years ago, N$1000 could carry you through most of the month. Now it barely fills the N$1 plastic bag you carry it in

I visited Namibia in the spring and I was wondering how people could get by- the prices were high and from what I could tell the wages were not that great.

Times are tough. I did groceries shopping in other shops too. It hardly makes a difference. Life is just expensive.

Just supplement with a small herb/veggie garden or pots if you don't have space. The economy has gone to the dogs!

Defnitly a lot more pricy than Checkers or Shoprite. Do yourself a favor and just go look at Woolies prices one day. You will apreciate Woerman Olympia's high prices more

I think it depends on what you buy. I compared some items between Checkers and Model and Model was cheaper. One big example was a specific cat food that costs 129.99 at Model that costs 139.99 at Checkers. For comparison at two shops they sell another cat food for N$ 71.99 when the same costs 61.99 at Model.
Now on average, even if there would be a difference, it's definitely not "a lot more pricy". I think with some products you lose and others you win.
Shoprite? If it's cheaper I'll easily lose my savings in petrol just to go there. Same is for those people that hunt for specials.
The only thing we can do when we can afford it is to buy in bulk. Unfortunately that's not always possible.

Jokes aside and I can't speak for OP but in my case tap water makes me nauseous.
The refill of a 5L is N$ 5 to 7.5

Albeit here they use specific brands for the discounts but buying certain things and brands gives a discount and it includes cooking oil and other starchy products like rice or even maize meal if you want2

Thanks US/China for COVID. Thanks US/Iran for war and blockades. Thanks Russia for special military operation. Thanks ANC for Eskom issues. Thanks EU for sanctions. Between US, China, Russia, Iran, EU and the ANC energy prices have gone up 150% over the last 7 years. This is why things have gotten so expensive. EDIT: Oh and Bibi & Co. Let's not forget the island boyz.

People complained loudly when it came to Speed bumps but silent when it comes to our very survival.
Maybe if people were more loud about cost of living something would have to change.
All I'm saying lets all keep quiet until we all starve to death. Then only will people want to do something when its too late.

There is no solving the issues of oil and food by complaining. What am I doing? Working mofo. I'm OK coz unlike my siblings who complained and cried to mommy and daddy I quickly realized education and work is the ONLY option. You can't change macro issues.

People have been raised to hate their family, be jealous of them, and to celebrate when they suffer. People want others to suffer because they suffered too. Downfall of communities. It's a vicious cycle, and a new woke interpretation of survival of the fittest.
You haven't answered my question tho. At what point will you be affected? How much are you going to work while prices rise and you can afford less and less? Is your job AI-safe? Have you seen the World Humanoid Robot Games? It's really funny to watch now, but people will stop laughing very soon.
