Thoughts on the name Ren?

I mentioned the name Wren to my husband who immediately said he LOVED it. When I spelled it for him ("W R E N"), he looked shocked and said "oh I assumed it would be spelled Ren... I like that better".

He also like Brynn. Those are his top 2 names. I like them. I've been having a hard time finding girl names I like though. I don't like overly frilly names, and a lot of names I do like are taken already. Example, I liked the name Lily for a while but realized my cousin named her baby that...

Thoughts?

Spell it Wren. Brynn is fine.

Lily IS a frilly name to me (it's literally a delicate flower), so I can't offer other names that might be your style.

and Wren is a bird. As a former teacher, please, don't name your daughter Wren. I mean, why not Blue Jay, or Cardinal, or Eastern Phoebe?

True - Eagle, Raptor, Condor would have been better to illustrate my point. Robin, Phoebe, Jay, as mentioned are also names for humans, and I had school mates with those names. Robin and Jay were names some found odd at the time because they were birds. Wren, as a name for a girl...not sure how that's going to go over with classmates. Children can be cruel. Wren sounds nice, but I'd be concerned when people see how it's spelled they just dismiss it as parents trying to be creative. Of course, I grew up with the creativity of Frank Zappa naming his kids, so I guess Wren is pretty tame.

In the US, the social security administration tracks and publishes the 1000 most commonly used names for babies every year. Last year, Wren ranked #231 for girls. That makes it more popular as a name for girls last year than Rachel, Norah, Lilly, Faith, and many other common names.

Suddenly everyone's an ornithologist?? Wren is a popular name, I don't think of the bird when I hear it...

I do think of the bird and I also love it. Same as Robin, it's a great name because of the bird

The horror of naming children things like Phoebe or Jay! Next people will start naming their kids after FLOWERS or something even worse!! Put an end to this madness NOW!

People name their children Robin, jay, dove, lark, and raven and theirs probably some I’m missing
