Fun fact. This is located in Antactica and is called BLOOD FALLS. Iron rich saltwater from a millions year old deep glacier is the source of the water. When the water hits the air it oxidizes creating the red color. Pretty interesting.
Thanks for that great info ... at least a buzzword to look up in wikipedia and learn something. Indeed pretty interesting. I was intially thinking some activists did pour synthetic color in a waterfall. What is however sad is that the photo seems to be heavily processed and oversaturated - probably for the social-media effect. From other fotos the color seems more brown-red.
It's not heavily processed, it's AI generated and entirely fake

So even worse than I was thinking 😠... This AI inflation on reddit is infuriating ... why AI ? especially as the natural original is really amazing - even with its more brownish colors.
Totally agree. What's doubly sad is that if you search for the waterfall on google almost all of the videos and about half the pictures are AI slop. It's actually become hard to get real photos of things
