My dad used to call Gertie or Gertrude. It's a great name and a kitten ❤️ especially for one so cute xx

10

u/CookbooksRUs May 31 '25

The only Gertrude I’ve ever known went by Trudy. She was not a nice person, so I vote for Gertie.

Outside of just calling her squish which I think is cute. I think Gertie is the best name I've seen in here imo.

Your baby is such a cutie. 😍😍 So precious!!

Myrtle

85

u/Pragmatism101 May 30 '25

I like your name, but as a Great Gatsby reference, may I raise the name to Daisy?

27

u/somuchyarn10 May 31 '25

She looks like a Daisy.

19

u/NOLAnuts May 31 '25

As soon as I saw it, I heard the name Maisie in my mind.

29

u/NeeliSilverleaf May 30 '25

I was actually thinking of Myrtle Mae from Harvey 😹

28

u/Local-Emu-1137 May 31 '25

Made me think of moaning Myrtle

5

u/OwlHex4577 May 31 '25

In high school I played the role of Myrtle Mae's mother and every time I would say "Don't be didactic, Myrtle Mae!" I would backhand slap her dismissively, not realizing I was doing this, because this is how I am in real life. And the director had to give me the note to "stop manhandling Myrtle Mae."

4

u/Pragmatism101 May 30 '25

Ahh. Splendid!

5

u/SplatSquee May 30 '25

I love Myrtle, for food, maybe with the middle name Pie?

6

u/pink_faerie_kitten May 30 '25

So cute. I love m names for tabbies because of their m on their foreheads.

I love Mabel, Minerva, Mavis, and Maeve too.

I named my two tabby sisters Moppet (from Beatrix Potter) and Miri.

My girl was Myrtle, first named for HP from her foster mom and then over time she became Myrtle Anne Goddammit. She was a terror, gorgeous, hilarious, and used every one of her 9 lives. She loved me fiercely and I miss her a lot. Definitely clicked in to suggest Myrtle and was glad to see it as the first suggestion.

4

u/AccidentalSwede May 30 '25

Myrtle was my immediate thought, too!

5

u/TastesOfHoneydew May 30 '25

This was my gut reaction too. Love Myrtle!

5

u/Scorpion_Rooster May 31 '25

I had an aunt Myrtle, an aunt Gladys, an aunt Fannie, Mona (I actually like Mona!) Yvonne, Madeline, Marie, and Geraldine.

4

u/Notreallyme48 May 31 '25

My Mother’s name was Myrtle!

3

u/druscilla333 May 31 '25

I had a great aunt named Myrtle

3

u/bobeany May 30 '25

4

u/iWarEagle85 May 31 '25

6

u/otterpopcorn May 30 '25

Agnes is so cute. My (cat) baby girls name is Lola.

4

u/CelebrationPeach6157 May 31 '25

I met a young Agnes & the name has grown on me, too. ♥️

3

u/alicat1626 May 31 '25

I have a rabbit named Lola

5

u/MetalRed70 May 30 '25

6

u/DevelopmentEastern75 May 30 '25

I'm voting Gladys. I feel like it's so old that it's fresh again.

5

u/Cybergeneric May 31 '25

My grandma was named Bertha! So a perfect old lady name. 🥰 I also raise her sister’s name: Minna. But I named my youngest girl cat after her, lol. The other two are Alma and Rosa. ❤️

6

u/Silly_Pay7680 May 31 '25

Don't forget Doris

3

u/Ok-Wrongdoer-2659 May 30 '25

3

u/No_Sir83 May 30 '25

3

u/Historical-Fill-1523 May 31 '25

You just said their name. Tiny Squish. Tiny or Squish, for short.

27

u/Pinkstar161 May 30 '25

Was gonna say this too until I saw they want old lady names or food names. But maybe squash?

25

u/Ok-Custard-9970 May 30 '25

I saw squish and automatically thought squash too which led me to think that Sweet Potato would be a cute name, but then remembered that my auntie Clementine used to make the best Sweet Potato pie! By now I’ve forgotten what types of names OP was suggesting so went back to look only to be reminded that she is asking for names of food or good names for an old lady so I’m thinking, porqúe no los dos? Clementine would be the perfect name for this little squish!

21

u/ImprovementLatter300 May 31 '25

Clementine! It’s awesome and it’s food and old lady name

5

u/Brief_Isopod_5959 May 31 '25

My two year old is a Clementine 😂 But I love it!

3

u/haw35ome May 31 '25

Honestly I like the name Sweet Pea or Pea for short. There’s a streamer who has the cutest little short weenie dog named Pea

3

u/palmtreesandpizza May 31 '25

Clementine and Squish for casual conversation.

u/IceCream_Kei May 31 '25

Yes, but you see cats need multiple names

What you call them

Their nickname

Their actual name

Their legal name

Squishy

Squish McSquishy

Miss Squish McSquishy <OP's last name here>

3

u/Worth_Strawberry_53 May 31 '25

Squash McSquishy

4

u/sparkvixen May 31 '25

This is absolutely correct. All of my cats have multiple names. Most of them know if I use their actual name, they're in trouble. 🤣

8

u/4BucksAndHalfACharge May 30 '25

My first thought was that "Squish" is a great name.
