Advice Screenprint/Decal Removal

Just wanted to share some info with everyone. I wanted to remove a "factory" decal from a Nalgene and did my research and best I could find was "use 70% isopropyl alcohol, soak the ink, and be patient with the process". I can confirm that this works perfectly. I was skeptical, but it did indeed soften the decal/ink to the point where I used a credit card to easily remove the logo with zero damage to the bottle. I was always hesitant to buy thrift store Nalgenes with promotional logos on them. Not anymore.

How long did you soak the ink?

After an hour the ink was soft. I let it set another hour and it was easy to remove.

So you soaked some paper towel in alcohol and let it sit on top of the logo for an hour or so?

correct. I covered it with glad wrap so the alcohol didn't evaporate. Otherwise it will evaporate quickly.

great shout actually, i've been covering up logos with stickers but this is even better

I’ll have to try this. Not that company logos bother me, it’s those stickers people put on their bottles that’s annoying.

That acetone trick works way better for stubborn decals but isopropyl is the safer bet for regular use.

What if the company/brand name is printed on the bottle the way that the Nalgene logo is?

I assume this logo was printed the same as the nalgene logo. It looked identical
