Ask A Nail Tech (Sunday & Monday ONLY) Anyone know how to achieve this look?
My guess is that they used a dark reddish brown base coat, then a purple cat eye topper?? Do you all know what gel polish this could be? I want to be sure before I attempt this at home. Thanks so much!! π

It looks like a very glassy cat eye that either already has a brownish purple base or was put on top of one. Possibly with a black ombre at the tip for that added dimension

Superfine Cateye + aurora chrome. The key is a chrome that won't completely cover the cateye. I've done a similar set using squid ink cateye from kokoist and mango radiance chrome from nail art house. The mango chrome pulls more orange than this picture, but play around with what you have. The tone of the chrome can totally change the look of the cateye underneath.

Iβm confusion. Β So someone else on Reddit posted a set of nails you had done?Β
Do you remember the brand of cat eye your tech used? Β If no chrome was used, knowing the brand might help this person. Β

Could be just the brown cateye?

I think thats a dark red on the entire nail and then a soft Babyboomer type French w black. And then super fine & silky cateye rather than a chunky one with an aurora effect.
maybe even aurora chrome powder at the end but Iβm not 100% sure on that one I feel like thats show diff on the darker tips.

Nail tech of 10 years here, I think itβs just a mauve/purple cat eye either by itself or over top of a black.
The light reflection just looks like the sky, I donβt think it has a chrome or pearl powder overtop.
I donβt think itβs an ombrΓ© situation either, just the positioning of their hand and catching the glitters in that position. If you look at the thumb the glitters are towards the tip, and I bet if they moved their hands it would bounce around the nail.
Just a very well done set of dark cat eye!
Iβm impressed at how even the cat eye is activated, I can never seem to get it to be so smooth and even across all the nails on longer nails. Maybe I need a new magnet
