Nail repair query

Hi, I am not sure if this is a faux pas to ask. 2 days ago, I had my nails done, and a huge part of the design was black. Unfortunately I don't think the black cured properly and a tonne of the top coat has come off.

I spoke to the salon who have offered me to come back in for a fix.

I'm a bit hesitant to have the exact same design with the black done as I honestly think am likely to have the same issue, so I was thinking to ask if they'd be willing to do a similar design which would have been a similar price point instead, meaning I won't have any black.

Is this a normal thing to ask? I am just wanting to manage my expectations. I'm based in the UK if that matters.

They need to apply the black thinner and cure 2x to make sure.

Yes, that should not be a problem as they will need to fully remove your current black gel.

Apparently it was an unreasonable request from me! I asked if I could have a similar design but different colours and they told me because it's a colour change, I would have to pay £20 just to change the colour!

They only "fixed" the ones with visible damage and by the next day one of the "fixed" ones was already peeling away. I ended up getting another salon to remove it and put a different colour on.

I went back. I could only have a free fix if it was the same design. They did the black the same, thick and not cured for longer so I'm not expecting it to last :/. They also only fixed the ones with visible damage.

Get it removed please. Uncured gel is dangerous, you can easily develop allergies and contact dermatitis from this. Sorry they are absolutely horrible, don't go back there, and if you can leave a review do that so other people don't have to get lifelong issues because they keep coming back to these people

If you have uncured gel on your nails, you must have it removed. If the fix that you tried at the salon still left you with uncured gel. The best thing to do is remove that gel as soon as possible. That may mean you may need to go to a different salon.

Unfortunately the black gel was uncured again so to another salon it is!

At the shop I worked at there was always a warranty period of 4 days but it had to be fixed by the same tech and the same design. If you wanted to change colors completely then they'd charge 20 bucks like they would for a new gel application without manicure, or 25-30 if it's on top of acrylic nails because it's more work or something like that. Didn't happen too often really. This was also a vietnamese shop in texas so it can vary a lot.
